Mated To My Best Friend's Lycan Alpha Brothers
Chapter 592: Envy, Embarassement, All At Once
(Author’s POV)
"DON’T DIE, NOOO .... NOOOOOO~~~~~~~~" An ear piercing shrill tore through the pin-drop-silent infirmary, shaking the entire building. Myra was jolted awake from her deep slumber.
Startled by the sudden uproar, the brothers, who were busy talking among themselves, looked at her at once. They rushed to her side to calm her down. Brave and Alaric stood to the right side of her bed, and Dion and Elio to her left, their eyes showing anxiety and deep worry.
With veiny, hazy vision, Myra looked at all of them, her eyes trembling, as if searching for someone.
When her eyes landed on Elio, impulsive desperation took over her. Without thinking about anything else, she pushed the quilt aside and got out of bed. She didn’t even see Dion, who was standing close, had extended his hand to check on her. Her feet staggered, and she was about to lose her balance, yet she somehow managed to reach Elio. She threw herself, wrapping her arms fiercely around him. Her hands wandered wildly on his back as if confirming something.
Burying her face in his warm, bare chest, she wept, looking like her entire world had just collapsed. Her voice came out broken as she blubbered, "You are alive. You are alive, Eli. You are really alive. I thought~ .... I thought~ ...I lost you for good." She whimpered between her sobs and squeezed him even more frantically, almost clinging to him.
All the brothers were left shell shocked to see her like that. They were left frozen in their respective spots.
Elio didn’t respond immediately; he was so surprised that his mind went completely blank, and his body went rigid. He could hear his own heartbeat pounding violently in his ears. Once he understood what was going on, he reciprocated the hug, gripping her with intense longing, inhaling her sweet, magnetic orange jasmine scent.
Placing his chin on the top of her head, Leo mumbled with giddiness, thumping his paws in excitement, ’Myra cares about us, more than others. She is worried about us; she chose us.’ Elio’s face burned cherry. His heart rate got even more erratic.
But the same wasn’t the case for his three older brothers. Brave, Alaric and Dion’s emotions were running complicated; their bodies remained glued to their places. They kept staring at their youngest and their mate’s torrid embrace. The sight was like a thousand needles pricking their hearts. It was gnawing at their minds, torturing their souls.
Drey grumbled inside Dion, thoroughly irritated, ’Mate~ .... our mate, sh~e just ignored us. She is only worried about Elio. Arghhh~ ... We were in danger as well. Our lives were at stake as well." Dion didn’t reply; he just clenched his extended hand tightly and pulled it back, his slightly blackened eyes never leaving Myra.
"Watching our mate weeping inconsolably, seeing her being so close to someone who is not us, is making me restless. It is maddening me to the point of destroying something, Rave. I don’t like this; I don’t like this one bit,’ Raw muttered, clearly pissed by Elio and Myra’s proximity.
’Myra and Elio are of the same age. And she has been friends with him from the day she visited the pack house. It is only natural she is worried about him.’ Brave replied, trying to reason with his wolf, though his expression turned hard. He, too, was feeling uncomfortable, suffocated.
Alex was roaring inside Alaric. He stomped his feet, fuming, ’Al, are you going to keep standing like a damn statue? Our mate is in someone else’s arms. Pull her away. Do something. Whether the other person is our brother or not, I am not sharing my mate with anyone. I. WILL. NOT.’
Alaric’s eyes were shifting between glowing red and arctic sapphires, his jaw clenched as he kept on looking in Myra’s direction with an icy glare. He was trying his best to suppress this unknown emotion.
Myra was still sobbing out of sorts. She had no clue what was going on around her or that her other mates were burning with envy and jealousy. Their possessiveness was building up inside them.
Elio’s palm reached the back of her head. Patting it, he tried to soothe her vulnerable state, his voice low and utterly gentle, "I am alright, Myra. I am fine. What could possibly happen to a strong Lycan wolf like me? You must have seen a nightmare."
Hearing his raspy, lively voice, breathing his familiar cedarwood in, feeling his raw skin on her tear stricken cheeks, and his mention of the words, ’Lycan wolf,’ made her stop abruptly. She finally realized what she was actually doing.
As the haziness in her mind started to disperse, the first thing she felt was his solid, lean, naked body and the heat radiating from it. Her face instantly turned red. But then she sensed something hot and hard pressed firmly against her lower abdomen. Her hazels darted down on pure instinct, and she gasped and gulped at the same time. Her eyes resembled saucers, and her face shifted to a deeper shade of crimson.
She whipped backwards at blinding speed, feeling as though the tense heat of their bodies attached would singe her if she didn’t escape.
She quickly turned her face away from him, trying to look elsewhere, trying to focus on something else, but her other mates made it harder for her. Whichever way she tilted her face, one brother was standing, looking at her intently, posing with not even an inch of fabric wrapped around their body.
The crimson was now the brightest, reaching her ears and neck. Elio tried to touch her, but she retreated instantly. She didn’t want to faint nor have a nosebleed again. So, she shrouded her face with both her hands and uttered, her words fumbling a little, "Why are~ ... why are you all naked? Co~ ...c~o~ ... cover yourselves up."
All of them snapped out of their jealousy at her statement. They looked down at themselves and each other and then at their mate.
Between worrying for their complicatedly intertwined mate bonds and waiting for her to wake up and get an answer from her, they had completely forgotten to wear clothes. After all, it wasn’t new for them to be unclothed or be seen by others. They were wolves; whenever they transformed back from their animal form to human, they were always unclad.
But right now, being pointed out by Myra so specifically and seeing her brightly tinted face, their own faces flushed.
Only Dion dared to reply, "Like what you see~ .... sweetheart?"
"What~ ... what are you saying?" Myra uncovered her face on reflex, inhaling sharply; she quickly shielded her eyes again, completing her words, "It’s not like that."
