Master's Untamed Wife

Chapter 1355 Till The Sun Comes Up

Chapter 1355  Till The Sun Comes Up

“It wasn’t worth it?” repeated Xia Zhao as he gave her an incredulous look. “I don’t even deserve to know this?”

“It didn’t have anything to do with you,” said Mu Chenyan. “So, I never thought about telling you about this.”

“Really?” he asked. “Why do I think there is more to it than you are telling me? It’s not like you keep things to yourself. You’d love to find reasons to beat me. Then why didn’t you take the chance to do so regarding this? Wasn’t it a very good opportunity to make me bow down before you?”

Mu Chenyan licked her lips and took a deep breath, “And why would I do that?” She rubbed her temples before adding, “Fine. You want to know why I didn’t come to beat you. It’s because my godmother didn’t let me do so. She said whatever your mother did has nothing to do with you and I should not let you know about it because it would only make the distance between you and your mother grow. She didn’t want me to become the reason for that distance. Even if my silence won’t fix the problems between you too, she still didn’t want me to add to those problems either and become a reason for you to hate your mother.” She sighed to herself as she went on, “Besides, I never wanted to make you feel guilty for something that you didn’t do. And I knew if I told you what your mother has to say about me, it’d only make you feel guilty just like you are feeling right now.”

Xia Zhao took her into his arms and hugged her tightly saying, “Yes, I do feel guilty right now. I have never been this much embarrassed and ashamed of my own mother. I did not think she would use your worst memories to hurt you. But I would like to tell you, Yanzi, you are not a curse. Your parents’ death had nothing to do with you. Your godmother’s death had nothing to do with you too. You know that right?”

Mu Chenyan felt a bit choked up and her throat burned but she still nodded and told him, “Indeed, I know that.”

“You don’t sound that believable right now,” he remarked. “Is it because deep down you have started to believe in those words too?”

“Why would I believe in those words?” she retorted. “But that doesn’t mean it doesn’t hurt when people say that whoever loves me only has one end and it’s death. Why? What have I done? I didn’t kill my parents. So, why am I blamed for it?”

Xia Zhao could feel his chest getting damp from her tears and he felt even worse right now. He tried to soothe her emotions while his own were getting out of hand right now. “Yanzi, you just have to know that you have nothing to do with anyone’s death. If you had been bad luck, why would you have so many people who love you so much, me included? The people who love you do so willingly. So, you don’t have to think about the opinions of those who hate you. They have nothing to do with you. And their words should not get to you. Not even on a subconscious level.”

“You think I want them to affect me?” she asked. “It’s only that I have heard the same things so many times that some times I do get affected by such words. Even if you speak a lie enough times, it starts to resemble the truth. How can you blame me for taking it to heart?”

“I’m not blaming you,” said Xia Zhao. “I would never blame you for anything and you know that very well. I’m just asking you to ignore these people and their opinions. You are everyone’s favorite and strongest Mu Chenyan. How can anyone get to you?”

“I wasn’t gonna let this get to me. But one thing your mother did say right. When the last time she said those words, my godmother was right there protecting me behind her and didn’t let me say a word. She almost dislocated your mother’s jaw with her heavy-handed slaps. You should be glad that she didn’t get disfigured by my godmother. She was really mad that day and was out for blood. I had never seen her that mad. However, Zhao, she is not here anymore to protect me.”

“But I am here. Would you please let me protect you? I don’t need to hide behind you,” he said sincerely. “I want to protect you too.”

“I know that. But I couldn’t let you do that earlier. No matter what kind of a woman she is, she is still your mother at the end of the day. It won’t look good if you go against her for me. I didn’t want things to get uglier than they already were at that time.” She took a pause and added, “You better not let anyone know about what conspired here tonight. Especially not my Elle. It won’t end well if she knew. So, please, don’t let anyone know. Okay?”

“Why are you still thinking about others? Think about yourself! You’re the one who got hurt the most tonight,” he reminded her.

Mu Chenyan hugged him tighter as she said, “Then you should heal me. Hug me all night and make me forget it.”

Xia Zhao coughed when he heard her say that, “And here you were saying that young people have gone wild. What do you have to say about yourself?”

“I’m talking to my husband! Who has opinions?”

Xia Zhao chuckled softly, “No one has any opinions. Come, let’s go home now!”

“Yes, let’s go,” she readily agreed. “We have already wasted so much of our wedding night. Let’s not waste it anymore. I should let everyone know not to disturb us since we have business until the sun comes up.”

“Okay, there is no need for that,” Xia Zhao stopped her from doing that with difficulty. She was quite persistent in letting everyone know about their plans for the rest of the night. But he didn’t think they needed to know such details.
