Master's Untamed Wife

Chapter 1313 Age Appropriate

Chapter 1313  Age Appropriate

“Oh, stop dawdling and tell the story already,” said Raelle.

Xiang Wai finally stopped bickering and turned to Justin. She softened her expression and said, “I’ll tell you the most recent one. It happened a couple of years ago. It was purely an accident. We were not exactly on a treasure hunt. We were on a mission to find someone. But things go out of control on missions like that and in the end, we had to run into the forest to hide. It was a long mountain range. We walked for four days but still weren’t able to find an escape route that could be considered safe. So, while hiding, we found a cave.”

“This is the worst storytelling I have ever heard,” commented Hyson.

Xiang Wai gave him a look, “You can’t blame me. It’s a code of conduct. I can’t explain the details of my mission or my mission target. In fact, I can’t even tell you who my teammates were. Honestly speaking, I shouldn’t even be talking vaguely about this right now. I’m already going against my conscience to speak just for my nephew.”

“You don’t have to go against your conscience,” said Raelle. “I believe, Justin just wants to know about the treasure.”

“Yes!” came Justin’s response. “What happened in the cave?”

“Actually, we didn’t think there was anything special about the cave. It was quite narrow and my team could barely fit into it to take shelter from rain. It happened on the second morning when we were planning on scouting the next route. The youngest member of the team accidentally slipped and held on to the wall of the cave. But guess what? Suddenly, a small part of the wall went in from the push and we were faced with a complicated ancient mechanism. Took a whole day to crack it and when we did, well, the stuff inside was worth it.”

“What was inside?”

“Gold, lots of gold bars. Then there was silver, and jade of all kinds. There were also some ancient relics. Vases, calligraphy, paintings. You name it. Everything in that secret room was worth a lot of money.”

Justin looked thoughtful, “Did someone hide it there during the war years?”

Xiang Wai gave him a surprised look, “Oh, how does our kiddo know about the war time?”

“I have been reading a lot about the history of our country lately.” action

“Why?”

“Because dad is a soldier. I need to know what country he is protecting and what kind of people live in it.”

Everyone was surprised to hear that answer from Justin and Xiang Weimin felt his heart swelling up with pride. He picked up his son and kissed his face, “My son is really great.”

“Indeed, you are good, kid,” said Xiang Wai. “And to answer your question, no. Those things were not hidden during the war years. We found some of that stuff too before. This one looked different. It was more grand I would say. So, we did some digging and it was later learned that was the secret treasure safe of a prince from a certain dynasty. He seemed to have hidden all those assets for his rebellion but he was killed before he could act on it. We gave everything to the state and got commendations for our work too. The story ends here.”

Justin looked at her strangely before saying, “Next time, don’t tell me a story. You really aren’t good at it. There was no suspense, no up and down, no excitement. Everything was so bland in your words. Who tells a story like this? How did you pass your language exam?”

“How do you know I always struggled with my language exam?” asked Xiang Wai curiously.

“I can tell.”

Hyson laughed out loud and rubbed Justin’s head, “Even a kid can tell you’re no good, Major!”

“Well, nephew. Your little aunt is worse than me. I can assure you that,” said Xiang Wai.

“Why am I being dragged into this again? What does this have to do with me? I didn’t even offer to tell a story,” said Raelle.

“Your day will come. Be prepared for it, sis,” said Xiang Wai.

Justin also looked at Raelle and asked, “Do you have any interesting stories, little aunt?”

Raelle shook her head, “No. My life had been very boring. I don’t go on adventures in real life. I spent my life in the library. I seemed to like the smell of books better than the nature.”

“I can vouch for that,” said Hyson as he raised his head. “The only adventure is her life might be the kidnappings she had to go through or escape from.”

“Kidnappings?” asked Justin.

Raelle gave him a look, “That was unnecessary.”

Seeing Justin’s curiosity, Hyson bit his tongue. Indeed, he also felt it was very unnecessary. He slapped his mouth so that couldn’t stay quiet and spill the beans.

“You are too young to know,” said Raelle to Justin. “When you grow up, I will share my experience with you. Is that okay?”

Justin was also a very understanding kid and nodded obediently, “Then I’ll be waiting, little aunt.”

“Don’t worry, I won’t go back on my words.”

“I know that.”

“Why don’t you ask your father for some adventure stories?” suggested Shui Xian. “I believe he has a lot to share. Don’t you, Weimin Ge?”

“I don’t particularly recall anything interesting enough,” said Xiang Weimin. In fact, he had been thinking about this since Justin started asking Xiang Wai to share her stories. But what could he possibly say? Everything seemed inappropriate for someone of Justin’s age. It was either too bloody or too dangerous. And he didn’t want to tell this to Justin at all. It didn’t feel right. But he couldn’t stay quiet either. After all, he had to say something to his own son about his own heroic deeds. How else would his son look up to him? But what was age appropriate and also interesting? Hmmm…
