Master's Untamed Wife

Chapter 1295 Difficult Time

Chapter 1295 Difficult Time

“Where is Wai? Didn’t she wake up yet?” asked Grandfather Xiang when he didn’t see her at the breakfast table. “Is she still sleeping?”

“I’m here!” Xiang Wai ran over in a hurry and took a seat.

“I think you had a very good sleep last night,” said Grandfather Xiang.

Xiang Wai smiled at him, “Yeah. I slept way too well.”

Lao Jiangou laughed as he said, “Miss doesn’t have to be embarrassed about such a thing.”

“Yes, there is no need,” agreed Grandfather Xiang. “It’s not my fault,” said Xiang Wai. “Grandpa, I think this is the fault of this place. I just couldn’t wake up.”

Grandfather Xiang and Lao Jiangou shared a look before a heart laughter rang out.

Grandfather Xiang pinched her nose, “You’re really Grandmother’s granddaughter.” Seeing her confused look, he added, “Your Grandma couldn’t get up early when we first got married. She’d also use the same excuse that this place was at fault otherwise, she was a very diligent person.”

Xiang Wai pursed her lips in response.

“Let’s eat now,” said Grandfather Xiang.

Grandfather Xiang was sitting in front of the window, looking at the rain falling down outside in a daze. No one disturbed his thoughts and gave him space at the moment.

“I think rain loves my godmother as much as my godmother loved rain.”

Grandfather Xiang was pulled out of his daze and he looked at Mu Chenyan who appeared beside him.

“What do you say, Elder Xiang?” asked Mu Chenyan.

“I don’t know if the rain loves her but she did love rain with a passion,” replied Grandfather Xiang with a gentle smile on his face. “You’re finally here. Usually, you’re the first person to come.”

“Sorry, I got stuck with things,” answered Mu Chenyan. “Anyway, I didn’t have to worry about leaving you alone. I sent three people to accompany you and even sent an extra later on to brighten up this place.”

Grandfather Xiang shook his head at her, “You did well.”

“I know that. I always do well.”

“Narcissist,” commented Grandfather Xiang.

Mu Chenyan shrugged and happily took the compliment. “How are you feeling?” asked Mu Chenyan.

“Don’t worry about me.”

“How can I not? Whenever we come here, you fall ill. I have to worry about your health because you don’t take care of yourself.”

“That’s an exaggeration. Even if I forget to take care. Aren’t you always around like a shadow? And even if you aren’t around, you leave your people around me. Do you know how uncomfortable it is being watched all the time?”

“Can you blame me for that? I looked away once and trusted you too. What happened? You ended up in the hospital and scared the hell out of me.”

“Chenyan…”

“Yes?”

“You should slowly start getting used to it.”

Mu Chenyan paused and then turned to him, “I don’t want to. You know that.”

“I’m already very old.”

“People are older than you.”

“I suffered a lot of injuries in my youth on the battlefield. You can’t just pretend like everything is okay around you. You need to start accepting the fact that one day in the future, I won’t be around you.”

Mu Chenyan turned her face away as if she didn’t want to look at him right now. She took a deep breath and crouched down in front of his wheelchair. She put her hands on his hands and said, “You know I think I’m one of luckiest people in this world. I got two pairs of parents who loved me very much. Even if I lost one pair, I still had the other around me. But now, I only have you. You remind me every step of the way that you’re gonna leave me, isn’t gonna prepare me for the future. It only hurts me more and more. It hurts me a lot. Do you understand that, BàBà?”

Grandfather Xiang touched her head lovingly and with a bit of guilt, “I’m sorry! I know it hurts you. I will try not to bring this topic up.”

“You know today is the worst day to bring this topic up. It’s my godmother’s birthday. I don’t have her around. And you’re talking about this for what? To me feel even worse?”

“I said, I’m sorry!”

“I don’t need you to apologize to me. I just want you to stop talking about this.”

“Okay. Okay, my dear ancestor! I won’t say a word. Can you calm down? Don’t you dare let those tears fall.”

“If you don’t want me to cry then don’t say things like that. I’m gonna file a complaint with my godmother. You can’t make me cry like this.”

Grandfather Xiang felt very distressed seeing her like this but he also felt like laughing at the same time. What was he supposed to do with this woman? She was already so old and still threatened him the same way she did when she was a kid.

“Okay, you can file a complaint. You can do whatever you want. Just don’t let those tears fall. I really can’t handle your tears.”

Mu Chenyan stubbornly held in her tears and really didn’t let them fall. It’s not like she wanted to cry. She would like to blame it all on him. She had no other excuse for these tears. “Everyone is here this time. You really need to keep your composure this year. If the kids saw you cry, imagine the impact. Your image will collapse. Don’t you wanna be the cool and calm aunt anymore? Why are you rushing to destroy your own persona now?”

“Isn’t it your fault,” she retorted. “Who asked you talk nonsense? You always do this to me. You don’t say this to any one else but me.”

Grandfather Xiang gave her a small smile, “Silly, because I know. My daughter is gonna have the most difficult time when I’m not around.”
