Chapter 1282 Keep Your Pace
Chapter 1282 Keep Your Pace
“Did Justin take it all in so easily?” asked Mu Chenyan to Xiang Weimin. She didn’t think it would go so easily. There was so much thunder or rain and it passed without a sound. It’s not that she wanted to see some thunder and rain but she just found it a bit weird.
“He is smarter than we give him credit for,” told Xiang Weimin. “He said he is a year older and a year smarter now. So, I should take him seriously.”
“He said that?” asked Mu Chenyan in utter shock.
“Why are you so shocked, Aunt?”
Mu Chenyan looked dazed for a while, “I just recalled someone saying the same thing to me once.”
Xiang Weimin paused, “Are you talking about Raelle?”
Mu Chenyan nodded her head, “Yeah. It was her. She was also Justin’s age at that time. And she asked me about what happened to her grandmother. When I said I’d tell her later, she said she was a year older and a year wiser. I should take her very seriously now.” She had a smile on her face as she recalled that time. “I almost pinched her face at that time. She was so cute with her chubby cheeks but spoke so seriously that the contrast made me love her more and more.”
“I can imagine,” said Xiang Weimin.
“What else did he say?” asked Tang Hebe who came to join them. “Sorry for listening in. I’m just curious about his reaction. He seems to be so normal that I thought you didn’t tell him the truth. But then I heard him calling you Dad and I have been confused until now.”
“I think I should give some credit to Raelle for this. She seemed to have prepared Justin for this scene already,” said Xiang Weimin.
“Huh? How?” asked Tang Hebe.
“She told him to observe things if he feels uncertain about something and it turned out her advice was applied to all of us. Because Justin had been observing our strange reactions these days. He vaguely realized that we were related. Especially when he found the similarities between himself and me.”
“That’s really the Xiang family’s kid,” commented Mu Chenyan. “He has keen senses already. I don’t think I have to worry about the next generation of our family anymore.”
Tang Hebe was still a bit surprised. She couldn’t believe that her tiny son was so capable already. She never doubted Justin’s IQ even when he was so withdrawn from the world. But she was surprised that his EQ wasn’t a joke too.
“You didn’t expect it?” asked Xiang Weimin to Tang Hebe bringing her out of her daze.
“Right. I didn’t doubt for a second that he won’t be able to comprehend the complicated connection between you and him just because he is young. That’s why I let you freely talk to him too. However, I didn’t think he’d be able to deduce the truth on his own. I suddenly feel like he had realized that my intelligence couldn’t keep up with his so he never embarrassed me by asking unnecessary questions. I thought he just wasn’t purely interested in knowing. Now, it seemed he could just find clues on his own.”
Xiang Weimin smiled to himself, “Actually, I was also surprised by his intelligence. Don’t feel so low. He is a sensible kid.”
“He is also a sensitive kid too,” said Mu Chenyan who was listening silently to them. “Don’t look down kids. They are very sensitive to feelings. I didn’t know that until I raised a kid myself. I also thought kids didn’t know anything. But strangely enough, kids know who is good or bad to them. They are very clear about the kindness and the malice of the world. This is even more true for kids like Justin who are born with a higher intelligence than an average person.” She took a pause and added, “I can understand your feelings better than anyone right now. I also felt like a fool when I stood in front of Raelle. She had questions that I had no answers too. I had to learn a lot to keep up with her pace but in the end, she stopped me saying that I should stop running after her just to keep up with her. It’s good to want to keep up the pace with your child but remember, you can’t always do that. You can try your best but don’t lose your own pace of life in the process.”
Tang Hebe looked at Mu Chenyan thankfully. She genuinely felt her concern and was happy too to listen to this valuable advice that came through Mu Chenyan’s own experience.
“I’ll do that,” said Tang Hebe.
“And if you can’t answer a question, tell him to look for his father,” added Mu Chenyan. “If Weimin can’t answer, we have so many family members, someone will be able to handle his questions. You aren’t alone now.”
Tang Hebe smiled widely, “Yes, I understand that.”
“Good. Don’t take so much pressure now. I told you before, you aren’t alone. We owe you a lot for taking care of Justin. The least we can do now is to take care of you and be your support.”
“I’m just glad that you said I’m not alone anymore. That already means a lot to me. Especially when I know that you have some complicated feelings towards me because of the past connection between me and Shui Xian.”
“I’ll ignore that from now on for my grand nephew’s sake. Nothing is above the grace of raising someone. You gave this grace to Justin and he calls you mother. You gave him a home when you didn’t even have a home of your own. It says a lot about your character. You might have flaws but I don’t doubt your character. Don’t worry so much.”
“Thank you! You’re a very nice person.”
“I refuse to take that compliment,” said Mu Chenyan as she walked away.
Xiang Weimin laughed at his aunt and told the confused Tang Hebe, “My Aunt doesn’t like people saying she is a nice person. Because she genuinely thinks she isn’t one.”
“Strange,” said Tang Hebe.
“Yeah. But then again, everyone is strange in this family.”
“I agree.”
Xiang Weimin gave her a look but didn’t say anything else.
