Chapter 3012: 3012. Formations And Learning

"This is the first major formation we are using to continue an expanding elemental dome. We also believe that using a rune dispersion formation will allow us to disperse the excess mana in to the greenhouse itself."

The exhumation was happening in front of Onyx and the golem that Walker controlled. He’d gone this way since Onyx had suggested checking in on this project.

"Would it be able to guide manas in to an alternative mana storage to be used to train elemental resistances?" This was yet another question from Onyx that surprised Walker and also appeared to excite the rune carver explaining the current state of the project.

The small floating shed had been lowered the other day so they could see the wear and tear on the rune formations. After they had done this, they had realized that they had an inefficient rune formation that was wasting a lot of mana.

Too much mana to be called a success for the longevity that they needed.

"That is plausible but you would need to develop more rune rods, additional mana gems, and a specialized area that can filter that mana in one direction to test an individual or a group." Onyx nodded slightly and Walker continued to look about with the mana senses.

He could see the wasted mana bleeding away and knew that this was just in the quality of the rune formation itself. Once it gathered the mana and created the circuit, it was theoretically perfect. It worked well enough in the tests too.

But where the problems came in were the manas that naturally moved across the world.

The additional mana could be dragged in to the elemental manas created and cause higher stress on the rune formation. Making a simple protective rune formation also didn’t properly solve this since it would block too much mana from the outside and cause there to be too high of mana cost on the additional formations too. Causing another break down in the formation as a whole.

"You want to train the younger hatchlings against other manas, right?" Walker asked and saw that Onyx was glad he caught on.

"They will have to be better than just resistant naturally to dark and light mana. We eat the light mana and can manipulate the dark easily. But when some of us want to travel further, they will need to be able to handle it."

This would be a bit of training from the time they were in eggs all the way through their hatchling phase. It would be tough on the parents and even tougher since it might cause stress to the hatchlings.

However, it would ensure that they could survive the environments outside of the world or even the toughest places that the world has to offer.

Ideally, there would also be a change to the generations later in the family lines.

Hatchlings born with naturally resistant bodies to all manas. From there, they would have more opportunity and would be able to better achieve the goals they had.

"It’s going to be tough to keep it up but you are making the right choice for your people. I am proud." Onyx bobbed his head a few times enjoying the praise from Walker.

"Can you golem bodies resist manas well enough?" Onyx could already sense that Walker could easily control these golem bodies and that they would be able to handle the mana stress from the elemental planes. But he wanted to ensure that nothing would be able to interfere with Walker’s growth too.

"You can already tell. It was made for resistance both in maa and physical strength. I already figured out that I can buff the golems in the same ways as I would for you or my own body. But I need to smooth the flow of mana when I am in combat or crafting. Remey is helping me make potions to keep me tested. Su and Midnight met up and the two golem bodies are being tested in their own ways too."

"Is sister making you store things and then move them here and there?"

"I have no idea how you know that she would do that. She has been making me help bring food to the different nests of a few parent dragons while Su attacks the other golem to train my defensive skills. Those two younger crafters are naming parts of the tools we use to move food and on the golem bodies. They are also naming techniques and where materials come from and what manas flow through them."

Walker was surprised that onyx was so clever. However, he also felt the changes in his lean ring.

Each golem was moving more smoothly. He was also feeling closer to them and less like they were different bodies. More so, he was feeling like he was looking through them and no longer sensing the area around them with his mana senses.

He’d refined the skills and his own perception even more in just a couple more hours.

All the while his real body was meditating within the forge where the mad golem crafter and the wandering blacksmith had left behind to work on other things.

The two had been interested in the results but also had their own things to do. The mad golem crafter wanted to make more miniature golems based on what he had seen. Onyx was still the focus since he was inspired by the scales and his movements. The wandering blacksmith was going to find a few materials and see if he could define a new hammer for himself by mixing his mana within the materials for a couple of days.

It might just make another tool capable of crafting another item beyond the norm.

"I believe the newest development in the rune formations being used are directly copied from one of the rune rods discovered and currently being used to repair one of the multiple fallen floating angel islands. I understand that the runes are made specifically to use wind mana to counter the gravity of the world."

Both Onyx and Walker looked carefully at the rine carver explaining the state of the projects and then looked over toward an area where the rune formation in question was carved out of soft clay so it could be examined in its full size.

It was not functional but Walker saw the multitude of covered wind runes within the formation. He also spotted a few fire and water mana based runes that would cause the wind to heat or cool and fight against itself like a tornado did.

His interest was temporary though since this rune formation was more of a back up. Not a focus.

"I believe it would be better to prepare a stronger gravitation based rune formation like in the flying ships. That way you can have this formation as a cushion for any landing. The strength of the wind used would cause damage to the land below even more than landing or crashing down would. There isn’t a delicate flow, it’s blunt." Walker could tell just on the minute amounts of mana following the formation.

The examiners who heard this stuttered in their steps before beginning to talk rapidly.

They had not seen tornados or what happens when wind is forced in to one direction.

In essence, this would work to cushion the floating object and to propel it. But it would not be without cost on the ground or on anything nearby that wind created.

"It’s a good idea though. But we have seen better advancements. Unless there is another formation that was layered on this to fix the problem?" Onyx knew that Walker had seen the layers of rune formations on the angel city and knew exactly why they were there.

"You should be right. We need to find the carved rune formations in layers on top of it so that we can decide what they did to fix the problems. The angels could still access the lands below and had villages on the ground. Their entire race did not live within the floating cities."

Both Onyx and Walker watched their conversation changing what the rune carvers and scholars thought. Their outside perspective and knowledge of what manas did when reacting to one another was exactly why they should visit projects like these. It would save days of testing and practicing certain formations.

"I need to go!" The rune craver rushed off and Onyx felt like the man was now in the thick of it. He would be very busy for the next few days.

"That was enlightening. I feel like I understand the benefits this study is having. It won’t just be for making floating islands or medical camps. It will be perfect for increasing the potential other aspects that runes can bring to eveyr day life."

Walker nodded. The golem acting more and more as he would without him needing to think about it actively.
