Marvel: Reincarnated as the Fire Goddess of Asgard
Chapter 228 229 Cersei
The four walked up the stairs to the third floor, where the ancient civilization exhibition displayed artifacts from around the World: Egyptian sarcophagi, Greek pottery, Chinese bronzes, and Mayan reliefs.
The soft lights of the display cases illuminated those objects that had been sleeping for thousands of years.
A woman stood in front of a display case, her back to them; she wore a light blue shirt, dark trousers, and her long brown hair draped over her shoulders.
Her posture was relaxed, hands in her pockets, head slightly bowed, looking at an artifact in the case—a Babylonian clay tablet engraved with cuneiform.
Sersi, a member of the Eternal, lived on Earth as an ancient history Professor; having lived for thousands of years, she still retained the appearance of a woman in her thirties.
Mavuika raised his hand and gave a gentle wave, and golden-red flames surged from his palm like an invisible wind, sweeping across the entire floor.
The tourists, staff, and security guards who had been in the building all began to walk downstairs unconsciously; it was not because they were ordered to, but because they were guided by some gentle force, like water flowing to a lower place.
Sersi sensed something unusual; she raised her head and looked around, noticing the corridor had suddenly become very quiet, with no human voices, no footsteps, and not even the sound of breathing.
She turned around and saw four people standing at the other end of the corridor.
There were two men and two women, and the woman standing at the very front had long golden-red hair, amber eyes, and a faint golden glow surrounding her.
The woman to her left had long, raven-black hair, deep green eyes, and skin as pale as jade; her entire being exuded a cold aura that made Sersi instinctively want to retreat.
Behind them were two men, one blond and one dark-haired, with one carrying a hammer and the other having empty hands.
Sersi did not recognize them, but she could feel that these four were not simple.
Her hands lifted slightly, ready to release power at any moment, as she was an Eternal possessing the ability to manipulate matter, transforming one material into another and changing the form and properties of objects.
On the battlefield, she was the support core for her teammates.
"Who are you?" Sersi's voice was steady but carried a hint of vigilance.
Mavuika walked forward and stopped about five meters from Sersi.
He looked at Sersi, his amber eyes devoid of hostility, holding only a calm, scrutinizing light, and he spoke directly, without pleasantries or preamble.
"You are a member of the Eternal, aren't you?"
Sersi's expression changed, her body retreated half a step, and her hand had already been pulled from her pocket, fingertips glowing faintly.
"I don't know what you are talking about. Please move aside." Sersi's voice grew colder.
Hela grew impatient; she stepped forward, Death Energy condensing in her palm like a thundercloud about to erupt.
"Why waste words with these people? Wouldn't it be better to just finish them off?"
Sersi sensed that energy—it was something purer, more essential: Death; that aura made her blood run cold.
She looked at Hela, her pupils slightly constricted.
But Mavuika reached out, stopping Hela.
"Don't be so reckless, Hela."
Hela glanced at Mavuika; the Death Energy in her hand did not dissipate, but it didn't advance either, and she took half a step back, arms crossed over her chest, watching Sersi coldly.
Mavuika turned his head back to look at Sersi; his gaze was calm, but his tone was flat, as if stating the most ordinary fact.
"The God is about to be born, isn't it?"
Sersi froze. "What?"
She instinctively asked back; a God—was it the kind of God she was thinking of? The God who created the Eternal and sent them to Earth to eliminate the Deviant?
What did it mean that a God was about to be born? Where?
Sersi's gaze followed Mavuika's line of sight toward the ground, her brow slowly furrowing.
Wait...
Did he mean... there was a God embryo inside Earth? And it was about to be born?
Sersi's brain was racing as she thought of her mission over the last few thousand years: eliminate the Deviant and protect humanity.
This was the instruction conveyed by Ajak, their leader; Ajak said this was the will of the God and the meaning of their existence.
But the matter of a "God being born" was something Ajak had never mentioned.
"You..." Sersi's voice tightened. "What are you talking about? What God?"
Mavuika looked at her, his eyes becoming meaningful. "It seems you don't know about this."
Sersi shook her head. "Should I know?"
Mavuika smiled lightly. "That is interesting. As an Eternal tasked with protecting the God embryo so it can successfully hatch and complete the 'Emergence,' you are completely unaware of this?"
Sersi was full of questions; her mind was like a tangled mess, with countless thoughts colliding.
Protect the birth of a God? Weren't we, the Eternal, sent here to deal with the Deviant? Ajak said the Deviant were failed experiments of the God, threatening human survival, so they needed to be cleared.
This was the mission of the Eternal: to protect humanity, and that was all.
But this man said there was a God embryo inside Earth, and the true mission of the Eternal was to protect the birth of that embryo.
How could this be possible?
Sersi quickly regained her composure; she didn't even know these people, so how could she be sure if what they said was true or false?
They could be enemies, accomplices of the Deviant, or some faction wanting to use her.
"Who are you people exactly?" Sersi's voice became vigilant again, the energy at her fingertips glowing brighter.
Loki glanced at Mavuika, and seeing Mavuika nod slightly, he stepped forward.
He was wearing that ink-green shirt, his posture elegant, a faint smile on his lips; he bowed slightly to Sersi, as if saluting a noblewoman in a royal court.
"My lady, we come from Asgard."
Sersi's eyes widened slightly; Asgard—she certainly knew of Asgard, as the Eternal had been on Earth for thousands of years, so she naturally understood the layout of the Nine Realms.
Asgard was the ruler of the Nine Realms, Odin was the King of the Gods, and norse mythology had circulated among humans for thousands of years, but Sersi knew there were real shadows behind those myths.
"Asgardian..." Sersi murmured.
Thor carried his hammer and grinned. "You've heard of us?"
Sersi didn't answer; her gaze moved from Thor to Loki, from Loki to Hela, and finally landed on Mavuika.
Asgardians had come to her in person and even spoke of a "God embryo"—it didn't seem like a lie.
"What did you mean by your words just now?" Sersi asked, her voice steadier than before, but her vigilance remained.
"What do you mean a God is about to be born? What do you mean by the true mission of the Eternal?"
Mavuika looked at her, a glimmer of sympathy in those amber eyes.
