Chapter 70: Chapter 70: Future Adventure

"Hey, Susan! Come on, let’s go for a drive!"

Wearing a pair of sunglasses and sitting behind the wheel of a Lamborghini, Daniel called out enthusiastically.

Daniel was finally rich. Now eighteen years old and officially an adult, he’d spent a long time reflecting on his future after his birthday. In the end, he made a serious decision.

He was going to earn some money, that too legally. So, he went into the sea, and he literally went salvaging shipwrecks.

With his vision, he could see the ocean floor as clearly as if it were right in front of him. Water pressure wasn’t an issue either. A man who could survive in the vacuum of space certainly wasn’t going to have trouble at the bottom of the ocean.

It didn’t take long. In just two days, Daniel had pulled several shipwrecks out of the sea. One of them appeared to have been dedicated to transporting antiques and jewelry.

Daniel made a fortune, an absolute fortune. Even after paying taxes and giving Tony some commission for handling the sales, Daniel still achieved his small goal.

One hundred million dollar that too in the 1990s.

Tony spent several months quietly selling off the antiques and jewelry. Even then, it happened a little too quickly. For a period of time, antique and jewelry prices around the world actually dropped because so much treasure had suddenly entered the market, as there had simply been too much of it.

The moment Daniel became wealthy, he immediately ordered a Lamborghini, the same dream car he used to drool over in his previous life but could never afford.

Then he got his driver’s license. The car had arrived today, and he couldn’t resist showing it off. Unfortunately, he couldn’t show off to Tony or T’Challa, as one owned countless luxury cars, and the other’s personal ride was a ridiculously cool aircraft.

Trying to brag in front of those two would only result in him getting embarrassed. So, Susan became his only option.

"Sure."

Susan agreed without hesitation. For her, opportunities to spend time alone with Daniel weren’t exactly common. Once she got into the passenger seat, Daniel started the engine and drove off proudly.

A few minutes later, an extremely strange scene appeared on the streets of Boston. A sleek, gorgeous Lamborghini was moving slower than a bicycle. It was practically crawling. The roads weren’t even crowded, and this wasn’t a rush hour.

The street ahead was wide open, yet a supercar worth a fortune was inching forward at turtle speed. If lane changes had been easier, every car behind them would have already sped past and showered the Lamborghini with exhaust fumes.

Inside the car, Susan watched Daniel grip the steering wheel with complete concentration. She felt helpless, after getting in, Daniel hadn’t said a single word. He looked as if he were taking an advanced physics exam rather than driving a car.

Seeing how serious he was, Susan didn’t know what to say. But she was dying inside. Can this guy actually drive?

Finally, after suffering through five miles of torture, Susan reached her limit. She grabbed Daniel and physically pulled him out of the driver’s seat. Then she took over herself.

Daniel sat in the passenger seat looking deeply wronged. He hadn’t even enjoyed himself yet, and Susan had already banned him from driving.

At last, the Lamborghini was moving at a speed worthy of being called a Lamborghini. Although Susan usually appeared gentle and reserved, her driving style was surprisingly aggressive.

The car shot forward. Soon they were racing out of the city.

"Now this is driving."

Susan glanced at him.

"What exactly was that earlier?"

Daniel immediately defended himself.

"There were too many cars in the city, and I was a little nervous that I might crash my new Lamborghini."

He nodded seriously.

"I couldn’t show my true abilities." Then he pointed at himself confidently. "But now? Now I’m definitely good."

"So, let me drive again. You’ll get to witness the skills of a true veteran driver."

Susan rolled her eyes; she didn’t believe a word of it, not one word.

Still, after Daniel spent several minutes pestering her, she reluctantly handed the driver’s seat back to him. Mostly because the way he tried to hide his offense behind a restrained expression was unexpectedly endearing.

She couldn’t help being softened by it. The moment his hands touched the steering wheel again, Daniel became excited.

"You know, my driving talent is actually incredible." He began bragging immediately. "I can learn any vehicle instantly."

"Cars, trucks, whatever, as long as I touch it once, I can drive it perfectly and I’ve never had an accident before."

Susan couldn’t even be bothered arguing. Gradually, Daniel increased the speed. The car went faster and faster.

"See?" Daniel grinned proudly. "I told you I have natural talent."

Susan pointed at the steering wheel.

"Really? Then what’s with those fingerprints?"

Daniel froze. Several distinct finger impressions had been crushed into the steering wheel. Apparently, he’d squeezed a little too hard.

"Cough."

Daniel cleared his throat awkwardly.

"The quality of this car is terrible, also it can’t handle my power."

Susan stared at him, then nodded.

"Sure."

At this point, she was beginning to regret getting into Daniel’s car. She’d imagined the two of them happily enjoying a relaxing drive together. Instead, she discovered that, thanks to the unfamiliar Lamborghini, Daniel was driving cautiously, almost too cautiously and she found herself guiding him through nearly every turn.

"A turn is coming up." Susan pointed ahead.

"Yes there," she said as a right-hand curve was approaching.

"Susan just relax and trust my skills." Daniel waved confidently. He turned the steering wheel.

At least he turned it the correct direction. Unfortunately, he turned far too aggressively. Combined with their speed, the Lamborghini instantly lifted onto its side.

The car started rolling and seeing disaster about to happen, Daniel reacted immediately. He opened the door and jumped out. Then grabbed the car and forcibly stopped it before it could flip over. Standing outside, he looked through the window at Susan.

"See?"

"I told you I wouldn’t crash." He proudly pointed at the Lamborghini. "I can stop it anytime I want."

Inside the vehicle, Susan sat there, shaken badly by the sudden stunt. She was furious and no matter what Daniel said after that, she refused to let him touch the steering wheel again. She drove them straight back to MIT.

The car stopped and the engine shut off. Susan then turned towards him.

"Daniel."

"Yeah?"

"You’re not suited for driving."

"How is that possible?"

Daniel immediately objected.

"I have a super brain and I learn everything quickly."

"It’s just driving, I could master it after looking at it once."

He pointed at her confidently.

"Actually, I was just messing with you earlier."

"Heh."

Susan left him with a cold laugh. Then she got out of the car, she was exhausted. After she left, Daniel simply climbed back into the driver’s seat. Then, at a breathtaking speed of ten miles per hour he drove lap after lap around MIT campus.

That night, the four friends gathered on the rooftop as usual.

"How’s the new car?" Tony asked.

Daniel immediately brightened.

"It feels amazing."

He nodded enthusiastically.

"Next time, you absolutely have to ride with me. The experience is perfect."

Susan sat nearby without saying anything. Personally, she felt Tony and T’Challa definitely deserved the same experience she’d suffered through, everyone should share the pain.

"Oh, right."

Tony suddenly remembered something.

"Daniel, are you graduating soon?"

"Yeah."

Daniel nodded.

"I’ve finished my PhDs in Physics and Engineering."

"I’m not planning to pursue any other degrees."

After spending three years at MIT, he’d finally managed to earn two doctoral degrees. At least it sounded impressive when mentioned out loud. That was enough for him, as he had no desire to continue studying. Books made him sleepy, every single time.

"So, you’re leaving school soon?" Susan asked.

She had only recently completed her master’s degree and was planning to continue toward a doctorate. Among the four of them, T’Challa actually had the lowest academic standing. He hadn’t even finished his undergraduate credits yet.

"Yeah."

Daniel leaned back slightly.

"What I told you before was true."

"I honestly don’t know what I should do next."

He looked toward the distant city lights.

"So, I want to go out into the world. I want to find my direction."

"Then go." Tony smiled.

"I’ll probably spend another six months getting a PhD in Biology before graduating myself."

"That’s right."

Susan nodded along. "We support you." Then she added, "As for me, I probably won’t stay at MIT for my doctorate. I’m going back to New York."

A smile appeared on her face.

"Columbia already sent me an invitation."

Listening to three academic geniuses discuss their future degrees, T’Challa quietly remained silent. He was still worrying about how to graduate from college.

If he failed to graduate, it would be unbelievably embarrassing.

’No more going out to have fun.’

T’Challa silently made a promise.

’I’m going to study seriously from now on.’

A few seconds later, another thought appeared.

’Actually, one last time tonight. I’ll start studying tomorrow.’

After careful consideration, T’Challa decided to invite Tony out one more time later that evening. Just one final trip, definitely the last one.

"So where are you planning to go?" Susan asked Daniel.

Daniel thought about it for a moment.

Then shook his head. "I don’t know. At the moment..."

A smile appeared on his face.

"My plan is to travel across the entire Earth. Every continent, every country, I just want to see the whole world for myself."
