Marvel: I Made the SCP Foundation Real
Chapter 42 The Chaos Insurgency Surrenders
Ophelia’s Despair 42: The Chaos Insurgency Surrenders?
Ophelia’s Despair Ophelia surrendered.
And she did so with remarkable decisiveness.
Ethan had calculated many possibilities, but even he hadn’t expected the commander of the Chaos Insurgency to surrender so cleanly.
If Ophelia knew what he was thinking, she would’ve felt deeply wronged.
The only reason they had surrendered so quickly was because their opponent was the Foundation—an organization whose strength seemed both overwhelming and bottomless.
Faced with such a crushing disparity in power, they simply couldn’t muster the courage to continue resisting.
2B alone had practically wiped out the Hunters the Chaos Insurgency had painstakingly accumulated.
Even their elite trump-card unit, the Chaos Infiltrators, had lost more than half its personnel.
The moment Ophelia witnessed 2B’s terrifying combat strength, she knew their entire operation had failed.
In less than fifteen minutes of direct contact, they had suffered catastrophic losses.
Against the overwhelming combat power of a YoRHa android, ordinary manpower was simply incapable of resisting.
And that was despite the Chaos Insurgency deploying an entire force of 120 Hunters.
Under normal circumstances, even a handful of Hunters could use terrain like this to annihilate several times their number in lightly equipped human troops.
Yet now— Two entire Hunter squadrons had been wiped out in less than ten minutes.
One hundred and twenty Hunters.
Along with dozens of Chaos Infiltrators.
Every Chaos Infiltrator was among the finest soldiers the organization possessed.
But in front of 2B…
Their combat effectiveness was barely worth mentioning.
For the first time in many years, Ophelia felt a profound sense of helplessness.
The last time she’d experienced something like this was when she had still been a HYDRA operative known as Viper, only to suffer HYDRA’s merciless betrayal.
Now, confronted with 2B’s overwhelming strength, she once again felt that same powerlessness— And the humiliation of absolute defeat.
One person.
Just one person had destroyed everything she had been so proud of and shattered her psychological defenses.
Ophelia knew that even if she multiplied the forces she’d brought several times over, the result would be exactly the same.
After all…
Their opponent was the Foundation.
How could an organization like the Foundation possess only this much strength?
They had deployed only a single YoRHa android today.
But who could guarantee that the Foundation had only one?
If there was one— Then there could be a second.
A third.
Perhaps even an entire unit of them.
Ophelia stared at the silver-haired beauty in the black dress, thigh-high heeled boots, and combat visor.
2B looked less like a battlefield weapon and more like an aristocratic young lady out for a leisurely excursion.
And that only deepened Ophelia’s despair.
Only someone from the Chaos Insurgency could truly understand what it meant if this Foundation was…
The real Foundation.
If so, every attempt at resistance was meaningless.
Even the original Chaos Insurgency had once been nothing more than an offshoot of the Foundation.
So what did that make their organization in this world?
They were merely inheritors of fragments left behind.
It was like a tribe armed with spears and swords trying to fight an enemy equipped with aircraft and tanks.
Other than surrender— What other choice was there?
If her opponent had been HYDRA or S.H.I.E.L.D., Ophelia would’ve remained confident even in this situation.
She would’ve searched for an opening.
Looked for an opportunity to reverse the situation.
But against the Foundation— She felt only despair.
Precisely because she had once been Madame Hydra, she understood both HYDRA and S.H.I.E.L.D.
extremely well.
She knew how deep their foundations ran.
She knew roughly where their limits were.
The Foundation was different.
Even now, Ophelia understood that everything the Foundation had revealed was merely the tip of the iceberg.
Yet that tiny fraction alone was already enough to make her feel overwhelming despair.
Seeing Ophelia surrender, 2B lost interest.
She casually released both swords.
The two weapons immediately floated back behind her under the support field.
Watching this, the bitterness on Ophelia’s face deepened.
Ethan, meanwhile, had no intention of executing the prisoners on the spot merely for a little extra system reward.
For one thing, he believed they still had plenty of value.
And secondly— The system had just issued another notification.
[New Side Mission triggered: Bring this world’s Chaos Insurgency under your control.] Ethan looked at the captured insurgents with growing interest.
Aside from the woman who seemed to be their commander, most of the prisoners looked deeply unwilling to accept defeat.
But faced with overwhelming force—and their commander’s order— They had still surrendered.
Ethan looked directly at Ophelia.
“Commander of the Chaos Insurgency.” “Since you’ve surrendered, give me your name.” Ophelia reluctantly lowered her head.
Humiliation filled her expression.
“Ophelia Sarkissian.” Ethan looked puzzled.
“Ophelia?” Seeing his reaction, Ophelia assumed he was deliberately pretending not to recognize her.
She took a deep breath before replying coldly, “The name Ophelia may not mean much to you.” “But surely the titles Viper and Madame Hydra do?” Hearing those names, fragments of Ethan’s memories from Marvel suddenly surfaced.
His expression changed in realization.
“Madame Hydra?” “Aren’t you supposed to be leading HYDRA?” “How did you end up commanding the Chaos Insurgency?” Ophelia took several deep breaths.
Her chest rose and fell sharply before she finally calmed herself.
She gritted her teeth.
“That’s a very long story.” “Commander Ethan…” “You’re not planning to interrogate me right here, are you?” “How rude of me.” Ethan smiled.
“In that case, perhaps the famous Madame Hydra would care to visit one of the Foundation’s bases as our guest?” As he finished speaking, three V-44X Blackfish transports slowly descended toward the ground.
Mobile Task Force operators began escorting the dejected Chaos Insurgency prisoners aboard.
Ophelia followed Ethan into one of the aircraft, her face still filled with unwillingness and frustration.
