Chapter 829: Chapter 829: The Mutant Team Annihilated

William Stryker’s mutant team was highly unusual. They were not only fearless in the face of death, but also incredibly persistent.

Given the strength Wild Boar armor had demonstrated, the American soldiers who had been taken down earlier, so long as they were still conscious, had all chosen to flee the scene. None of them had tried to pick up a rifle and launch a sneak attack from behind while already missing an arm or leg.

But the mutants before him seemed to have no fear at all. They were simply loyal to their orders, willing to fight to the death to eliminate the enemy.

No wonder William Stryker hadn’t dared to control Professor X using the same method. What if it damaged his abilities?

So after Wild Boar armor swung Lady Deathstrike around and smashed her through the mutants with a series of utterly unreasonable blows, the entire mutant team went down.

None of them possessed abilities that were overwhelmingly powerful. At the very least, none of them had any way to stop Wild Boar armor while he was wielding Lady Deathstrike.

Those who had been fortunate enough to be hit by anesthetic darts were now sleeping peacefully. As for the other unlucky ones, they were hovering on the brink of death.

Although Wild Boar armor had not taken their lives directly, the minimum requirement was to deprive them of any ability to resist.

With the most troublesome mutants dealt with, only the last one in his hands remained.

Wild Boar swung Lady Deathstrike down onto the floor once more, smashing a crater into it that spread out like a spiderweb.

Her body had been twisted into a horrifying mess, with the joints of her arms and legs stretched out at bizarre angles. If it weren’t for the flesh still holding her together, she probably would have been torn into pieces already.

Her face looked even worse.

Aside from her flattened nose, even her eyeballs had been knocked out of their sockets, dangling by nothing more than a bit of tissue.

As for her clothes, only a few lonely scraps of fabric remained, barely covering her battered body.

The tiny wounds, however, were already healing rapidly. Even her limbs were automatically returning to their proper positions, while her eyeballs were being pulled back into their sockets.

Her healing ability was truly astonishing.

Wild Boar armor obviously wasn’t going to let Lady Deathstrike fully recover.

He planted a foot on her face and, with ferocious speed and force, repeatedly stomped down more than a hundred times!

It was as if he intended to drive that adamantium skull directly into the concrete floor. Once again, the brain that was on the verge of healing was shaken into mush.

He then made use of whatever was available at the scene, finding various pieces of rebar, sharp metal fragments, and iron rods.

He drove one end through Lady Deathstrike’s body and embedded the other end into the concrete floor.

It was like driving nails or piling foundations. He literally pinned this extremely powerful regenerative mutant to the ground.

Her skeleton might have been made of adamantium, but her skin and internal organs weren’t. Anything that needed to be pierced could still be pierced.

He then dragged over several cabinets from nearby and piled them haphazardly on top of Lady Deathstrike.

Only after this powerful mutant had been suppressed like Sun Wukong beneath the Five Elements Mountain did he finally leave the battlefield.

Even if Lady Deathstrike’s physical abilities were far beyond those of an ordinary human, without room to exert force, it would be difficult for her to escape from underneath such a pile of heavy objects even after fully recovering.

Wild Boar didn’t want this troublesome mutant interfering again while he was dealing with his targets.

Only after confirming that Lady Deathstrike could not escape on her own without someone else helping her did Wild Boar armor continue deeper into the base.

Everything that happened had been transmitted through the visual feed of Aetos armor, allowing the three long-lived beings watching from the sidelines to see it all.

When they reached the pile of debris stacked like a small mountain, they looked at Lady Deathstrike with only her head exposed.

Although it was hard to believe, the armor’s sensors showed that the woman was still alive, and her vital signs were actually growing stronger.

"Is this what mutants are like? Such terrifying vitality."

Gilgamesh answered over the internal communications channel. "There aren’t many of them, but some mutants are extremely powerful. Still, if you find the right method, even these mutants can become very fragile. The difficult part is avoiding being taken down by an unexpected ability the first time you encounter one."

Looking at the chaotic battlefield, this was probably the most brutal battle Wild Boar armor had fought since infiltrating the dam.

Earlier, dealing with the American soldiers had been a simple matter of anesthetic darts and a kukri.

This time, he had directly picked up a humanoid weapon and smashed his way through the opposition.

The mutant whose abdomen had been ripped open had already stopped breathing due to massive blood loss.

He wasn’t the first person to die because his blood loss had not been properly treated.

Henry had originally promised that he wasn’t there to carry out a massacre, and technically, he had kept that promise.

But he wasn’t kind-hearted enough to preserve every enemy’s life either. There would always be some unlucky people who died for one reason or another.

For example, Aetos armor had witnessed two wounded soldiers helping each other, only for one of them to accidentally kill the other through clumsy handling.

If they had stayed where they were, or if the less severely injured man had refrained from moving his companion, the wounded soldier might have survived.

Unfortunately, the man who still had enough strength to act had wanted to carry his comrade somewhere safe, only to turn his good intentions into a fatal mistake.

Aetos armor had not intervened from beginning to end. Cassandra had no obligation to rescue these soldiers.

She also remembered that one of Henry’s reasons for not having them join the battle was that he didn’t want the appearance of the armor they were using to be exposed, so there was no reason for her to indulge in excessive compassion.

Besides, Cassandra was a Spartan to the bone.

She hadn’t forgotten how these American soldiers had been wounded. They had been standing there with guns, firing at Wild Boar armor, and had been taken down as a result.

As for those who hadn’t attacked, Wild Boar hadn’t even bothered to look at them.

Since none of the wounded were innocent, sympathy was unnecessary.

Aetos armor followed Wild Boar and continued deeper into the base.

Perhaps the base commander had not yet issued an evacuation order, because the two Eternal heavyweights guarding the exits outside had not seen anyone escape.

More likely, the American soldiers who had personally witnessed the terrifying strength of Wild Boar armor had either been knocked out by anesthetics or had lost limbs and were struggling on the brink of death.

Everyone else who didn’t know what was happening remained at their posts, waiting for the next order.

After defeating the base’s mutant team, there were considerably fewer obstacles in Wild Boar armor’s path.

However, the silence from the U.S. military also created a certain amount of trouble for Wild Boar, because he had no idea where his targets had gone.

The earlier chaotic movement and redeployment of troops had indeed disrupted Wild Boar armor’s ability to keep track of their positions.

Now the situation had become somewhat murky.

The two Sparrow spy drones that had been stationed outside the dam were also called inside.

All three Sparrow drones searched the secret military base beneath the dam at full capacity for the targets.

Wild Boar himself joined in as well, turning the operation into a game of hide-and-seek.

With no one obstructing them, the Sparrow drones worked together with Wild Boar armor to search the entire military base. It didn’t take them particularly long.

But they couldn’t find any of the conspicuous targets.

After all, one of the people Wild Boar armor intended to kill was a patient confined to a wheelchair.

Yet this time, they couldn’t find Mastermind, nor could they find Professor X, who was likewise confined to a wheelchair.

Could they have escaped through some secret passage?
