Chapter 783: Chapter 783: The Green Goblin Reappears

The homemade heavy-duty winch went up against Spider-Man’s strength.

Unfortunately, technology lost.

The Wild Boar failed to launch himself onto the apartment rooftop and was instead dragged back down to the ground. He stared speechlessly at Spider-Man as the latter pounced toward him.

"What exactly are you? Is there a person inside? Is your body made of mechanical devices?

"Do you have a grudge against the Green Goblin? Did one of your friends die or get hurt at the Osborn Carnival?

"Did your gun just backfire and explode, or did it self-destruct? How did you embed those glowing lines into your armor?

"And why did you make yourself a pig? Isn’t it stuffy inside that mask?"

There were two kinds of chatterboxes.

One was the kind who loved playing teacher. They would tirelessly lecture others about highly specialized or profound knowledge, showing off their extensive learning.

The other kind had thoughts that constantly jumped from one subject to another. They were good at finding topics and asking questions, and sometimes even answering their own questions.

If they got even the slightest reaction, they would assume the other person was interested in the subject and immediately dig deeper into it, eager to pour out everything they knew.

The first type was commonly found among people who lacked social awareness and thought highly of themselves. They were usually annoying.

The second type depended on the situation. In a pleasant setting, they were excellent at creating a lively atmosphere and preventing things from becoming awkward.

But in the wrong setting—say, when two people were currently beating the crap out of each other—it was nothing short of psychological interference!

Could they please let him have a proper fight?

The Wild Boar’s punches and kicks came faster and faster.

Spider-Man’s counterattacks never stopped either, and they were not lacking in power.

The two were nothing like WWE wrestlers exchanging blows in a ring, one move at a time.

Instead, they flew and leaped through the air, relying on grappling hooks and webs to engage in three-dimensional combat along all kinds of incredible angles and trajectories.

When the Wild Boar’s second pneumatic gun was snatched away by Spider-Man’s web and subsequently self-destructed, the only ranged weapon he had left was the small crossbow mounted on his arm.

Unfortunately, even this little thing failed to accomplish anything.

Almost the instant the bow arms deployed, Spider-Man’s webbing would stick to them.

If the Wild Boar spent time clearing away the webs, Spider-Man would take the opportunity to land several punches and kicks.

This guy was not only a chatterbox; he fought dirty too. He especially loved jumping into his opponent’s blind spots and attacking.

The Wild Boar was not nearly as agile.

The only weapon he had that posed much of a threat to Spider-Man was the dog-leg blade in his right hand.

The two fought from the streets onto the rooftops, crossing one apartment building after another.

Spider-Man never stopped talking, asking question after question that went straight to the soul, demanding to know why the metal man had killed the Green Goblin.

No matter how the Wild Boar explained that he had not killed the Green Goblin and that the man had simply vanished into thin air on his own, Spider-Man refused to believe him.

After saying it several times without getting through to him, the Wild Boar simply stopped bothering.

The man who had always relied on leaving no bodies behind to keep the police running around in circles had finally suffered the downside of having "no corpse."

If he had actually killed the Green Goblin, all it would cost him was abandoning the Wild Boar identity.

But he had not done it!

Being falsely accused by Spider-Man made the person inside the armor grind his teeth in frustration.

Fighting Spider-Man was completely different from fighting the Green Goblin.

At the very least, whenever the Wild Boar tried to use a charged attack, having it interrupted or miss was practically inevitable.

That Spider-Sense was simply too absurdly overpowered.

Ordinary attacks barely fazed Spider-Man.

The dog-leg blade might be razor-sharp, but it was useless if it could not hit its target.

The Wild Boar simply retracted the blade back into his leg armor.

At this point, he could neither escape nor win.

Unless he used his own innate abilities, this hastily assembled Isu Wild Boar Armor simply could not deal with Spider-Man.

All of his preparations had been made specifically to fight the Green Goblin, and they had been designed for a surprise attack.

His plan had been to strike before the Green Goblin had time to adapt to his abilities and finish him off in one decisive blow.

He had never considered how to deal with the red-and-blue kid in skintight clothing standing before him.

So should he use his own abilities in full view of everyone?

The reporters who had originally gathered around the fire had already followed the battle here, along with the police and firefighters who had arrived afterward. Several cameras had appeared nearby as well.

Was the Wild Boar Armor about to become the second openly identified supervillain in the Marvel universe after the Green Goblin?

After all, he was fighting New York’s friendly neighborhood Spider-Man.

There was no way anyone could possibly associate the word "good guy" with him.

And with the Daily Bugle constantly pushing its lifelong anti-Spider-Man agenda, insisting that anyone wearing a mask was no good, it would practically defy heaven itself if the Wild Boar Armor’s reputation did not stink.

Regardless, his objective had failed, and he was now being hounded by the young Spider-Man.

The anger of the person inside the Wild Boar Armor gradually rose.

He was beginning to consider abandoning all restraint.

"Look! What’s that?"

A cry from one of the bystanders made Spider-Man, who had just been forced to put some distance between himself and the pig-headed metal man, pause instead of immediately continuing the fight.

The Wild Boar had originally intended to take the opportunity to escape.

But his eyesight had not yet recovered, while the armor’s detection systems were still functioning perfectly well.

The object falling from the sky was none other than the Green Goblin who had disappeared more than ten minutes ago!

There was no need to run now.

The mission was back on.

The Wild Boar and Spider-Man exchanged a glance.

Then, as if they had reached the same conclusion without saying a word, they simultaneously fired their grappling hooks and webs toward roughly the same location and launched themselves into the air.

Both wanted to intercept the falling Green Goblin.

The dog-leg blade was back in the Wild Boar’s hand.

His intention was obvious.

The enlarged image showed that the Green Goblin was not wearing his signature helmet, meaning the Wild Boar could simply chop his head off.

Spider-Man, of course, intended to rescue the man and capture him, then hand him over to the police.

Whatever happened, he could not let that strange metal man kill him.

The falling Green Goblin had not lost consciousness.

He was also aware of his predicament.

Unfortunately, his flight glider seemed to have broken down and was tumbling downward beside him.

The fact that he was not panicking, screaming, or making a fuss was already an extraordinary display of composure.

The reason he could remain so calm was because the Green Goblin saw both Spider-Man and the strange man who wanted to kill him rushing toward him.

At this point, even if he wanted to die, it would be difficult to do so.

At least he would not be dying from the fall.

Spider-Man’s web was still a step faster than the Wild Boar Armor’s grappling hook, catching the falling Green Goblin first.

The powerless flight glider was ignored by both of them.

Whatever the case, a living person was more important than an inanimate object.

Simply sticking someone with a web, of course, would not slow their free fall.

Spider-Man’s original plan was to weave a web at the Green Goblin’s landing point, using it like a spring mattress or an air cushion to catch him.

But the pig-headed humanoid metal man was right beside him.

That web would probably be destroyed the moment it was woven.

The Green Goblin did not have enough time to wait for Spider-Man and the metal man to finish fighting each other.

So Spider-Man used another method to deal with the Green Goblin’s predicament.

Using his own body as the axis, he imparted angular momentum to the Green Goblin, changing his direction from a vertical fall into a horizontal throw.

The price was that Spider-Man himself was flung in the opposite direction.

But then he fired another web at a nearby building and yanked hard!

Not only did the web change Spider-Man’s direction, its elastic force also accelerated him, allowing him to catch up with the Green Goblin before the less agile metal man could reach him.
