Chapter 219: Chapter 217: A Night of Fish and Dragon Dance (10)

The two-meter-tall cyborg swayed unsteadily, white steam billowing from its body, inside and out. The air filled with the sound of countless, subtle pops, like metal fracturing, as if it were a steam boiler about to lose control and explode.

A thick cloud of white steam washed over him, carrying a searing heat and the distinct, metallic stench of machinery. Yet within it, Fu Juemin was surprised to "smell" the faint aura of a Demon Fiend.

His eyes flickered.

BAM!

Like a bolt of lightning, his right arm, as thick as a python, plunged into the chest of the cyborg before him!

SCREECH—

Accompanied by a teeth-grinding screech of twisting and tearing metal, Fu Juemin slowly pulled his arm from the cyborg’s body. It emerged slick with a thick, unknown fluid like molten iron that sizzled and corroded the ground where it dripped.

Fu Juemin’s attention, however, was completely captivated by the object now clutched in his hand.

It was a small, hard, jet-black object that resembled a lump of coal. Despite its size, it was astonishingly heavy, and it seared with such heat that even he found it uncomfortably hot to the touch.

The Demon Fiend aura he had sensed was emanating from this very "lump of coal."

Channeled through his Vitality, which was fused with the Snake Demon Soul, the "coal" in Fu Juemin’s hand cracked apart with a SNAP. The hard outer shell contained not stone, but a strange, gelatinous flesh.

In Fu Juemin’s palm, the flesh rapidly decayed and withered away as a formless power surged into his body.

On his character panel, the Golden Energy in his Skill Energy Slot instantly surged!

From just that small piece of flesh, Fu Juemin’s entire Energy Slot had filled by nearly a quarter—even more than what he had gained from killing Luo Zhengxiong’s Demon Fiend test subject.

Even... the area after his Talent Bar flickered indistinctly.

Though no words ultimately materialized, it was enough to make Fu Juemin’s eyes light up with a pleasant surprise.

Just then, a piercing shriek split the air beside his ear.

Fu Juemin barely lifted an eyelid. Forming his right hand into a blade, he swung it diagonally with a motion as casual as swatting a fly.

WHOOSH—

As his arm swung, the layer of Vitality surrounding him naturally extended, coalescing in the air into a blurry, narrow, black arc of light. It shot forth from his body, sweeping horizontally before him.

A terrifying aura of severance spread out, creating ripples visible to the naked eye, and in the next instant, it slammed into the Western gentleman who was now just a hair’s breadth away.

With a sharp CRACK, the gentleman’s chest burst open, and his entire body was flung backward.

The momentum of Fu Juemin’s Pharmacist Master’s Great Aspiration Slash didn’t diminish, continuing on a path to engulf the silver-clad old man from Toad Palace behind him.

The old man’s expression had soured the moment Fu Juemin punched a hole through the cyborg; now, his face was a mask of terror as he scrambled back in a hasty retreat.

BAM!

The Western gentleman, sent flying by Fu Juemin’s projected blade, hit the ground only to unnaturally spring back up, lunging at Fu Juemin again without a moment’s hesitation.

The gray-white Bone Blades on his arms, which Fu Juemin had shattered, had somehow regrown. His eyes flashed with scarlet light as he unleashed a frenzied, chaotic storm of attacks against Fu Juemin.

Fu Juemin used only one hand to nonchalantly parry every single blow.

Suddenly, seeing his assault was failing, the Western gentleman raised his arms, revealing the dark muzzles of two gun barrels hidden at his elbows.

RAT-A-TAT-TAT—

A violent, staccato burst of gunfire, like popping beans, erupted!

Muzzles flashed, and a metal storm of bullets poured down on Fu Juemin’s face and chest!

Fu Juemin lowered his gaze. The bullets struck his face and body, only to bounce off harmlessly, clattering to the ground with a series of PINGS and CLANGS.

His Protective Qi Membrane was simply too dense, many times stronger than that of an ordinary Tongxuan. At this range, the kinetic energy of a standard pistol round was exhausted before it could even begin to penetrate his Protective Qi.

WHOOSH—

Suddenly, Fu Juemin’s hands shot out like lightning, batting aside the stream of bullets as he descended upon the Western gentleman.

His hands clamped down on the man’s shoulders, and with a sudden surge of power, he tore them apart!

RRRIP—

The Western gentleman’s face twisted in a silent scream as Fu Juemin tore his entire left shoulder from his torso!

However, the expected gruesome scene of flying flesh and gore never came. Where the Western gentleman’s body had been ripped apart, there was no blood, only a mass of strange, deathly-pale sinews stubbornly holding him together.

A powerful wave of a Demon Fiend’s aura washed over Fu Juemin’s face.

Fu Juemin’s eyes flashed. He noticed at once that these sinews, all emitting the Demon Fiend’s aura, originated from the man’s spine and were squirming like living creatures.

Just as he reached out to tear them away, the Western gentleman in his grasp suddenly gave him a savage grin and softly spat out a single word: "Die!"

Beneath his tattered tailcoat, the man’s chest split open, revealing a hidden launch port. Several finger-length, solid-black conical projectiles shot out, slamming directly into Fu Juemin.

BOOM!

A terrifying explosion roared to life. A blinding fireball erupted at the center of the confrontation, its dreadful heatwave sweeping across the dam and ripping bluestone slabs from the ground. For a moment, everyone was frozen in shock.

"Heh... heh heh..."

The Western gentleman, thrown aside by the blast wave, lay on the ground a short distance away. He stared at the roiling ball of flame and smoke, a cold, continuous laugh issuing from his lips.

The ghastly, torn wounds on his body were already showing signs of healing.

He pushed himself up with one hand, as if trying to climb back to his feet.
