Martial Saint with Passives
Chapter 469 - 240: Daoist Wu Wei’s Gift
Five imposing towers were arranged in a five-element formation, connected by covered walkways and wreathed in mist, resembling an Immortal Palace.
Standing at the entrance, Jiang Che gazed at the gold-lettered plaques hanging from each tower and couldn’t help but marvel once again at the profound resources of a top-tier Sect.
He hadn’t taken a close look when he’d come with Bao Da and the others before.
Now that he was back, it was the perfect opportunity to familiarize himself with the layout of the towers, which would make it easier to redeem Cultivation Techniques later on.
After a quick tour, Jiang Che had a general understanding of the place.
The tower to the east was the Ten Thousand Laws Tower. It housed a vast sea of Martial Arts Techniques and Divine Secret Techniques and was the most frequented by disciples.
The southern tower was the Danxia Tower, filled with everything related to Alchemy and Pharmacology, Herb and Plant Atlases, and the personal notes of past Pill Masters. Many disciples, scented with herbs, were currently coming and going.
The western tower, the Celestial Craft Tower, was a treasure trove of knowledge on Artifact Refining, Weapon Casting, and the art of Arrays.
The northern tower, the Bo Wen Tower, contained records of the world’s strange tales, Exotic Beast Atlases, and geographical gazetteers. While it didn’t directly improve one’s combat strength, its contents were an indispensable library for anyone traveling the Jianghu.
The central tower, the most mysterious of all, was the Wendao Tower. It was said to house the Cultivation Insights and epiphanies of the Sect’s patriarchs and Great Powers. No one but Core Disciples could enter.
’What a treasure trove...’
Jiang Che’s eyes burned with fervor. Without a moment’s hesitation, he walked straight toward the eastern Ten Thousand Laws Tower.
As he stepped inside the tower, the ancient, heavy scent of ink washed over him.
The main hall was spacious and bright. Hundreds of disciples moved about, yet it didn’t feel crowded at all.
Behind a counter, a lean-faced old Daoist in a gray robe was engrossed in an ancient tome, a pot of tea resting beside his hand.
Jiang Che approached and bowed respectfully.
"I am the disciple Jiang Che. Greetings, Elder."
The old Daoist didn’t even look up, his gaze remaining on the page as he spoke flatly,
"Your Token. The first floor has Mortal Martial Arts and Qi Blood Realm Techniques. The second floor has Low-Tier True Skills for those below the True Master Realm. The third floor has High-Tier True Skills for the True Master Realm, and the fourth floor has the Sect’s Ultimate Skills... Which floor are you headed to?"
Jiang Che handed over his Identity Token. After a moment’s thought, he said,
"I would like to go to the first floor to browse Weapon-type Qi Blood Realm Techniques."
"Hm?"
The old Daoist’s finger paused on the page. He looked up, sizing up Jiang Che with a flash of surprise in his eyes.
"The Qi Blood Realm?"
He could sense the potent, restrained fluctuations of True Qi within Jiang Che’s body; he was clearly at the True Master Realm of Cultivation.
"You’ve already reached the True Master Realm. Why look at the run-of-the-mill stuff used to build the foundations of Outer Sect kids instead of going upstairs to find some powerful Ultimate Techniques?"
Jiang Che’s expression remained calm as he explained,
"As I’ve only just arrived, I feel my foundation has some deficiencies. I wish to study a wide range of techniques and draw parallels between them to further consolidate my own Martial Dao."
Hearing this, the old Daoist gave him a long look but didn’t press the matter.
Disciples with such ideas were rare, but not unheard of.
It was just that most of them eventually found it to be a waste of time.
"Very well. Suit yourself."
The old Daoist took the Token, swiped it through an Array on the counter, and casually explained the rules.
"For these Low-Tier Cultivation Techniques, you can choose to redeem a scribed copy to take with you. Each copy costs five points."
"Or, if you think you have a good memory, you can choose to read them here."
The old Daoist pointed to a row of quiet rooms at the back of the hall. "You can read them inside, but the original manuals can’t be taken out. It costs twenty points an hour."
"Twenty points an hour?"
Jiang Che quickly did the math in his head.
Redeeming them one by one, even at the cheap price for Low-Tier Cultivation Techniques, would cost a hundred points for twenty manuals.
But he had a photographic memory. And with his now-powerful Divine Soul, he could practically read ten lines at a glance when it came to these low-tier manuals.
In one hour, even reading carefully, he could easily memorize a dozen or two!
"I’ll choose to read them here," Jiang Che said decisively.
"It’s been deducted."
The old Daoist tossed the Token back to Jiang Che and gestured to a row of bookshelves in the far corner of the hall. "The Weapon-type Qi Blood Realm Techniques are in Zone C. Go find them yourself."
"Thank you, Elder."
Jiang Che accepted the Token and headed for Zone C.
The rows of bookshelves were thick with dust, clearly having been neglected for a long time.
After all, any disciple who could enter the Myriad Phenomena Dao Sect was a top prodigy. They all trained in the Sect’s Ultimate Skills; who would bother with such inferior material?
But to Jiang Che, this place was an untapped gold mine!
*Plum Blossom Spear Technique*, *Mountain Opening Axe Technique*, *Life-taking Linked Spear*, *Flowing Cloud Swordsmanship*, *Eight Trigrams Saber*...
As Jiang Che’s gaze swept over the book spines, his eyes grew even more fervent.
He quickly pulled out several Secret Manuals he’d never seen before and strode into a nearby quiet room designated for reading.
Inside the quiet room, the light was bright, and all outside noise was silenced.
Jiang Che took a deep breath and opened the first manual: *Plum Blossom Spear Technique*.
His True: All-Seeing Eye silently activated.
FLIP, FLIP, FLIP—
The sound of the turning pages was incredibly rhythmic.
He wasn’t just skimming. Instead, his powerful Divine Soul was instantly deconstructing the words and images, engraving them directly into his mind.
As soon as he finished one manual, he immediately moved on to the next.
Time ticked by, second by second.
One manual... five manuals... ten manuals...
Jiang Che was completely lost in the thrill of absorbing knowledge at this frantic pace.
Although these techniques were low-level, each one contained a unique method for generating force or a novel approach to wielding a weapon, all of which slowly but surely enriched his Martial Dao foundation.
Finally.
When the last grain of sand trickled through the hourglass in the quiet room, Jiang Che closed the *Soul-Seeking Life-Seizing Sword* manual in his hands and let out a long sigh of relief.
