Chapter 6498: Shangguan Fengquan’s Goal
“The true dragon will notice me if I get too close to its lair. You’ll have to head there by yourself,” Shangguan Fengquan replied.
“Elder, how do I lure the true dragon out?” Chu Feng asked.
“You’ll have to figure a way out yourself. I wouldn’t have to seek your help if I knew. However, you should know that no one has ever succeeded in this feat,” Shangguan Fengquan warned.
“Please wait here, elder,” Chu Feng said before he began flying toward the dragon lair.
Sikong Changsheng suddenly interjected, “Chu Feng, you ought to think things through. This true dragon’s fragmented consciousness is extremely cunning and vicious. Countless have died in its hands, and most of them were stronger than you.”
“I’ll be careful,” Chu Feng replied. He began making his way toward the dragon lair while constructing a concealment formation.
“What’s wrong? You find it a waste of his talents?” Shangguan Fengquan smiled, but her eyes were as sharp as daggers.
“My apologies, Lord Sectmaster. Chu Feng is indeed a rare talent. I fear that the odds aren’t in his favor.” Sikong Changsheng bowed deeply, not daring to conceal his thoughts.
“Do you have alcohol?” Shangguan Fengquan asked.
“Lord Sectmaster, I don’t have alcohol as I don’t drink, but I do have some Dragon Spring,” Sikong Changsheng said as he took out a gourd.
“The Dragon Breath Clan’s Dragon Spring?” Shangguan Fengquan asked.
“Yes. It’s a more refined version.”
“I’ll have a taste.”
Shangguan Fengquan uncorked the gourd and poured its contents into her mouth. She sputtered a second later and spat it all out.
“It tastes as horrendous as ever.” She tossed the gourd back to Sikong Changsheng. “I left behind a treasure that is connected to my main body, but I have refrained from activating it thus far because it will only last at most twenty days after it is activated. Once its energy dissipates, I’ll lose all connection with this part of the world of cultivation.”
Sikong Changsheng widened his eyes in astonishment. He didn’t know Shangguan Fengquan had left such a means behind. He had thought that Shangguan Fengquan was dead, which was why he was moved to tears when he saw her.
“Lord Sectmaster, did you activate that treasure for Chu Feng?”
Shangguan Fengquan didn’t answer the question directly. “Since the Seven Realms Sacred Mansion entered the Ninth Galaxy, they have been recruiting talents and growing swiftly. They have secured a place for themselves in the Ninth Galaxy, though they have been overshadowed by our Ancestral Martial Spiritist Sect. However, there has been a change recently.”
“What is it?” Sikong Changsheng was worried.
“A powerful helper has joined the Seven Realms Sacred Mansion. Her existence threatens the standing of our Ancestral Martial Spiritist Sect. I wanted to recruit her, but I couldn’t stop her from joining the Seven Realms Sacred Mansion.”
Sikong Changsheng blurted out the first name that came to his mind, “Jie Ranqing?”
The top experts of the Seven Realms Sacred Mansion and the Ancestral Martial Spiritist Sect had entered the Ninth Galaxy in the earlier years of the present era. The only person he could think of who wielded the ability to tip the balance was Jie Ranqing.
And he had witnessed with his own eyes how Jie Tianran duped Jie Ranqing into entering the Ninth Galaxy.
Shangguan Fengquan looked at Sikong Changsheng and asked, “What made you think so?”
“Jie Ranqing is incredibly talented, and she’s from the Seven Realms Sacred Mansion,” Sikong Changsheng replied.
“Why can’t it be another talent nurtured by the Seven Realms Sacred Mansion in the Ninth Galaxy, or that a formidable world spiritist had joined the Seven Realms Sacred Mansion?” Shangguan Fengquan asked.
“I should have thought more deeply into it.” Sikong Changsheng lowered his head in shame, thinking that his conjecture was off the mark.
But Shangguan Fengquan smiled. “You’re right. It is Chu Feng’s mother.”
“Is it really Jie Ranqing?” Sikong Changsheng had a complicated look on his face. He had a high opinion of Jie Ranqing, but he would have never thought she would become a hindrance to their Ancestral Martial Spiritist Sect.
“I saw something more terrifying when Chu Feng was breaching our remnant. He wields even greater potential than his mother. He’ll eventually enter the Ninth Galaxy. While he has a grudge against his grandfather, that is mainly personal. If his mother asks him to join the Seven Realms Sacred Mansion, do you think that he’ll turn her down?” Shangguan Fengquan asked.
Sikong Changsheng’s face turned grim. While he had a high opinion of Chu Feng, he had a clear idea where his loyalties lay. If Chu Feng’s existence was going to threaten the Ancestral Martial Spiritist Sect, he wouldn’t plead for Chu Feng’s mercy.
It might be underhanded, but this was all for the Ancestral Martial Spiritist Sect.
“We mustn’t let Chu Feng join the Seven Realms Sacred Mansion,” Shangguan Fengquan declared as she looked at the dragon lair.
...
Chu Feng was oblivious to Shangguan Fengquan’s thoughts, and he didn’t hear their conversation either. His mind was focused on completing the mission at hand and obtaining the legacy.
But he could sense tremendous danger from the entity inside the dragon lair.
So, he channeled all his power into constructing a concealment formation. At the same time, he used the Divine Deer’s Divine Concealment to obscure his aura.
“Chu Feng, why don’t we just give up on this?” Eggy asked.
She, too, could tell how dangerous the dragon lair was.
Chu Feng turned to the Divine Deer and asked, “Elder, can you use your power here?”
“Yes, I can,” the Divine Deer replied.
Chu Feng sent a voice transmission to reply to Eggy, “Eggy, Elder Divine Deer says that she can take me away from the dragon lair if things get too dangerous. I’ll just give it a try first.”
“All right. Go ahead.” Eggy was merely worried about Chu Feng. Since the latter had a way out, there was no reason for her to continue dissuading him. So, she asked, “What is your plan?”
“Someone else would have long succeeded if it were possible to lure it out of its lair from the outside. I think I’ll have to enter the lair to take a closer look. Don’t worry, Eggy. I’ll give up if it proves to be impossible.”
Chu Feng would prefer not to tap into the Divine Deer’s power if possible, since it would be better to reserve this hand for times of danger.
Chu Feng finally arrived before the dragon lair. As soon as he stepped in, he was confronted by an overwhelming aura.
“This feeling...”
Chu Feng frowned. This aura far surpassed that of any expert he had faced; it transcended Heavenly God.
“Is this for real? Even the fragmented consciousness of a true dragon is this powerful?” Eggy was shocked as well.
“It’s not just the true dragon but the lair as well. This lair appears to be enriching the true dragon’s fragmented consciousness,” Chu Feng replied.
