Chapter 6467: Lord Shi Mo
“It’s not your first time giving out flower tea, right? Is it the same every time?” Chu Feng asked.
“Yes, such a situation is normal. Most of the visitors are foreign cultivators of a certain stature and strength. They have seen the world and eaten all kinds of delicacies. I understand why they might not like my family’s flower tea,” Huang Canlan replied.
“Then why do you still insist on giving out your flower tea?” Chu Feng asked.
“From time to time, I’d meet people who relish in my flower tea like big brother Chu Feng. That gives meaning to what I’m doing.”
“So, you’re doing this not because of your grandfather’s teaching but because you enjoy it?”
“You can say so. I lack the talent to become a powerful cultivator, but just doing things like this brings meaning to my life.”
Chu Feng revealed a rare smile. It was rare to meet people who could retain their kindness even after experiencing the cruelty of the world.
“What would you do if you became a powerful cultivator?” Chu Feng asked.
“I’ll develop a flower tea that’s truly beneficial to cultivators before giving it out,” Huang Canlan replied.
“I imagine that would be all snapped up in a heartbeat.”
“I’d love that.” The young man chuckled. “But I doubt that day will ever come. I’m aware of my limitations. I don’t have the ability to pull that off.”
Chu Feng asked, “Do you really believe kindness begets kindness?”
“I do. My whole family believes in that. And our kindness did pay off. We met Lord Shi Mo.”
“Where’s your home? Point it out for me.”
“It’s there.” The young man pointed in a direction.
Chu Feng looked over. His gaze peered through everything that stood in its way before finally falling upon a city. It was a small city with a dense population. Every household buzzed with life.
He quickly found a house in the city’s outer perimeter that looked like Huang Canlan’s house.
It was a shabby house with a simple courtyard.
A middle-aged man and an old man lay inside the house. The old man was over a thousand years old, but he was extremely aged due to his low cultivation. His body was emaciated, and his physical functions had all deteriorated. He was bedridden and could die at any moment.
The middle-aged man was ill as well, but one could still see the resemblance between him and Huang Canlan.
There was also a woman in the house, presumably the young man’s mother. She was taking care of those two.
A young man who appeared to be in his twenties was training in the courtyard. He was practising a martial skill, but he was lacking in aptitude. Chu Feng could grasp the martial skill at a single glance, but the young man, despite repeating the motions, couldn’t grasp its crux.
“The problem doesn’t lie with them but external factors,” Chu Feng suddenly said to Eggy.
“What do you mean?” Eggy knew Chu Feng must have realized something.
Everyone in the city was afflicted with the Netherworld Sect’s aura, and there were decently talented children in the city.
“Is the Netherworld Sect raising them as livestock?” Eggy asked.
It was common for malevolent cultivators to use other humans as cultivation resources. Even though the Netherworld Sect proclaimed itself as an orthodox sect, most people viewed it as the vilest sect in the world of cultivation.
In the first place, it was immoral to plant Netherworld Embryos into others without their consent. No one would be surprised if they used other humans as cultivation resources, too.
“It’s possible,” Chu Feng replied.
“Are you going to help them?” Eggy asked.
“It’s one thing if I didn’t see it, but I can’t turn a blind eye to it now that I know about it.”
“Mm.”
Eggy knew Chu Feng better than anyone else in the world. Even though Chu Feng often said his goal of cultivating was to protect his friends and family, she knew that he held justice in his heart as well. He frowned on the strong oppressing the weak.
The carriage moved extremely slowly, so Chu Feng tampered with it to significantly raise its speed. It didn’t take long for them to arrive in the city.
“The road seems oddly short today,” the young man exclaimed.
Chu Feng’s means were so advanced that the young man failed to notice anything amiss, except for the shorter travel duration. The young man’s house was indeed the one Chu Feng had spotted earlier.
“Grandfather, father, mother, big brother, I have brought a guest back,” the young man shouted excitedly even before stepping into the house.
“There’s a guest? Welcome!”
The young man’s big brother was the first to come out, followed by his mother supporting his father. Even the bedridden grandfather also grinned, revealing the few teeth he had remaining. They were a warm-hearted household.
Upon learning that Chu Feng was fond of their family’s flower tea, the grandfather was so delighted that he insisted on chatting with Chu Feng. So, Chu Feng entered the house, sat down with the family, and began conversing.
The grandfather naturally shared how he had bankrupted himself trying to treat a powerful cultivator so that he could exact vengeance on his enemies. Despite knowing that the cultivator had likely failed in his vengeance and died, he displayed only sorrow and not regret.
In the meantime, Chu Feng obtained the flower tea’s recipe, their flower tea’s seeds, and their tea leaves. However, he had another goal here aside from the flower tea’s recipe.
“Have you heard of the Netherworld Sect?” Chu Feng suddenly asked.
The atmosphere immediately changed.
“The Netherworld Sect? Of course we do. That’s the vilest power in the world of cultivation!” the young man said.
“They deserve to die!” the young man’s big brother added.
Chu Feng asked if they had seen any Netherworld Sectmembers in the area, but they didn’t. This was perplexing. Everyone in this city carried the same aura, hinting that all of them had encountered something similar. He had checked the common drinking water and food, but there was nothing wrong with those.
After probing deeper, Chu Feng learned that Lord Shi Mo visited this place thrice each year, and he would distribute pills to every household each time.
That gave Chu Feng a good idea as to what was going on.
“Looks like Shi Mo is behind this. Is he a Netherworld Sectmember pretending to be from the Divine Body Heavenly Mansion?” Eggy asked.
“It’s also possible that he’s a spy the Netherworld Sect had planted in the Divine Body Heavenly Mansion,” Chu Feng replied.
