Chapter 6449: Tribute Formation
Chapter 6449: Tribute Formation
“You felt that too? I thought it was only me,” the Huangfu Heavenly Clan’s Clan Chief said.
Through their exchanges, the crowd realized all of them had experienced the same feeling.
“Brother, w-w-what was that? Was it the tribute formation?” Wang Qiang asked.
“It is indeed a tribute formation,” Chu Feng replied.
“A tribute formation? But we obtained the Seven Stars Orbs! Was it a failure?” the Huangfu Heavenly Clan’s Clan Chief asked nervously.
“We did manage to combine the Seven Stars Orbs, but we have underestimated our opponent. The other party hasn’t been idling around. They must have been preparing this tribute formation while we were busy with the Seven Stars Orbs, and they completed it ahead of us,,” Chu Feng replied.
“What should we do now?” someone asked.
“We have to breach the tribute formation to leave this place, but it appears to be linked to the Immemorial Cemetery. Otherwise, it wouldn’t have been able to envelop the entire Immemorial Cemetery. We’re dealing with power from the Immemorial Era. It’s nigh impossible to breach it by force. Our best bet is to find the person behind the formation,” Chu Feng said.
...
Meanwhile, devastating shockwaves ravaged the depths of the Immemorial Cemetery.
A sweeping, glowing axe sent the colossal being flying into the distance. Even though it was covered in glaring wounds, the colossal being displayed no fluster. Instead, it raised its head and snickered.
The tribute formation had already enveloped the Immemorial Cemetery.
Shoosh shoosh!
Song Changsheng and Tianjian Qingyuan flitted over from different directions to regather. Neither was wounded, but they were gasping for air. It was not easy for them to bring down the colossal being even when combining their strengths.
“You’re the one behind the tribute formation?”
The two of them looked at the colossal being.
The colossal being scoffed, “Tsk tsk. I have to admit the two of you are formidable. You are limited by the world of cultivation. You could have achieved great things if you had entered the Ninth Galaxy, but you won’t have the chance to do so anymore.”
Song Changsheng and Tianjian Qingyuan didn’t answer. Instead, they continued raining axes and swords down on the colossal being, knowing that they had to slay the other party to resolve this crisis.
The colossal being retaliated with his whiskers, the eerie smile persisting on his face.
...
Meanwhile, Chu Feng and the others fell into despair.
“The Immemorial Cemetery is humongous. How do we find the person behind the tribute formation?”
The person behind the tribute formation would have known that too and gone into hiding. Considering how vast the Immemorial Cemetery was, searching for that person would be no different from finding a needle in a vast ocean.
“You don’t need to worry about that. You’re going to die here today anyway,” a voice echoed from the distance.
Jie Mubai appeared.
“How dare you show yourself!”
Several powerful energies assaulted Jie Mubai the moment he revealed himself, but all the energies vanished before they could reach him, as if devoured by some entity.
The crowd frowned. It was evident Jie Mubai had come prepared.
“Hah! A bunch of dying fools wishes to bring me down with them? Dream on. You’ll die to the tribute formation, but I’ll survive.”
Jie Mubai confidently pulled out the black talisman paper he had obtained from the mysterious expert who proclaimed himself emperor, but the talisman paper was now empty.
A humanoid figure standing at over a hundred meters tall appeared behind Jie Mubai. It unleashed a powerful aura that overpowered the crowd.
It had six limbs, each equipped with sharp claws. It had a face resembling a human, but it looked so hideous that it felt unnerving. Its eyes were as big as fists. Its nose was flipped inside out. Its mouth reached up to its ears, and it was filled with sharp teeth.
It was the monster residing in the talisman paper.
Jie Mubai had been reluctant to summon it as he would have to offer his soul up to do so. He didn’t want to be controlled by someone else. But he knew there was no other choice when the tribute formation appeared. Waiting would only result in death.
He had to swear fealty to the mysterious expert who proclaimed himself emperor.
“Hah...” A chuckle echoed from Song Yun. “Who are you trying to intimidate with that hideous thing?”
Even those on Chu Feng’s side were startled by those words. That monster’s aura was so powerful that they didn’t think it could be fake.
“Do you think this is a mere intimidation, lass?” Jie Mubai glanced at Song Yun.
Song Yun didn’t answer. She raised her head and looked at the tribute formation before uttering words that confused others. “So be it.”
Even Jie Mubai was bewildered. “Has fear eroded your mind?”
What Song Yun did next further confused the crowd. A step at a time, she made her way toward Jie Mubai.
“Are you provoking me right now? Or do you seek to join me?” Jie Mubai asked.
“Join you?” Song Yun suddenly stopped to look at Jie Mubai. Her face scrunched in disdain. “You?”
GWAH!
A scream echoed.
A huge mouth had suddenly appeared behind Jie Mubai and devoured the humanoid monster.
The culprit was an aura monster spanning over ten thousand meters in length. It resembled a lion, having four muscular limbs and a tail.
But its most eye-catching trait was its eyes. It had a massive eye that covered half of its head, and within that eye were nine pupils. It looked sinister, disgusting, and horrifying.
The crowd was no stranger to this monster.
It was Nine Pupils Demon Aura, the monster conjured by Demon Heavenly Exalted.
When Song Yun and the new king obtained the Demon Heavenly Exalted’s legacy, the new king underwent a challenge in hopes of gaining control of the Nine Pupils Demon Aura, but he failed. That resulted in the Nine Pupils Demon Aura breaking free of its seal.
Everyone would have been dead if Song Changsheng hadn’t arrived in time to slay the Nine Pupils Demon Aura.
But why would the bloodthirsty Nine Pupils Demon Aura suddenly appear at this juncture?
While the crowd was contemplating this question, the Nine Pupils Demon Aura made its way toward Song Yun, contracted its massive body until it was only ten meters wide, and obediently lay down in front of her like a little kitten, allowing her to stroke it.
The answer was apparent.
