Martial Arts: I Have Diligence Reward System
Chapter 1176 - 390: The Predicament of the Warring States Military Academy
Su Yue’s figure finally appeared on the Evil Spirit Broken Bridge.
The entire crowd erupted into cheers. The West Martial students were especially loud, and some of the more sentimental ones were already streaming with tears.
Twenty-one tides.
Su Yue hadn’t just broken the Daoist sect’s Bai Ziqing’s record of seventeen—he had surpassed it by a full four tides. It was utterly terrifying.
It was a miracle so immense it bred despair. Who could possibly break this in the future? Perhaps, this record would stand for eternity.
As Su Yue walked down, Mu Cheng hurriedly ran up to him, using a handkerchief to wipe his sweat. Even though he wasn’t really sweating, having a lover by his side who cared for him—wasn’t this exactly what love was about? Su Yue felt wonderfully refreshed from head to toe.
"He just set a new record, so why does he have to flaunt his romance too? It’s not fair," Meng Yang sighed. "You’ve reaped both the limelight and love; how are the rest of us supposed to live?"
"Sour lemons on the tree, sour lemons for you and me," Bai Xiaolong recited a little poem.
"Huh? Since when do you know how to write poetry?" Meng Yang looked at Bai Xiaolong in astonishment. The guy was supposed to be an ugly, uncultured illiterate.
"I copied it off... I mean, I found inspiration online.
"This scene reminds me of my first love. She was even more beautiful than Mu Cheng. Back then, we were..." Bai Xiaolong said, a half-smile rippling at the corners of his mouth.
"Back then, in your little bedroom, with a computer, a pack of tissues, and a dozen raunchy videos, you closed the curtains and burned away countless hours of your youth with your ’first love,’ right?" Meng Yang scoffed. "None of the videos you watched even lasted longer than three minutes anyway, because there was no need."
"You’re filthy, you’re disgusting, and you’re utterly shameless!" Bai Xiaolong glared at Meng Yang, deciding right then and there not to speak to him for three days.
"Congratulations, Su Yue. You’ve set another record. I thought nineteen times would be your absolute ceiling, but I still underestimated you," Mu Jingliang said, squeezing Su Yue’s shoulder with a remarkably warm smile. He was so satisfied with this son-in-law that words couldn’t even express it. Furthermore, he could sense that the Qi Blood within Su Yue’s body had surged significantly. Barring any accidents, he should soon be able to make a push for Rank Five. He had a Qi-compressing ring, after all. Su Yue’s Rank Five would be entirely different from anyone else’s.
"Actually, your judgment was correct. My limit should have been nineteen times, but the last two tides were purely due to luck," Su Yue hurriedly replied with modesty.
Twenty-one tides had already caused the entire venue to explode in an uproar. He knew that if he had triggered any more, the Research Institute might start wanting to research him, which would not be a good thing.
The deputy director hurried over to offer his congratulations. "Student Su Yue, you are truly the pride of our Divine Land.
"My name is Li Yongjun, a deputy director at the Research Institute. If you ever have the time, you should come visit the Research Institute."
His original mission had simply been to deliver a weapon to Mu Cheng. Initially, when that failed, it seemed impossible for the Evil Spirit Broken Bridge to even open. Yet, it had been one pleasant surprise after another: Mu Cheng broke through, obtained the Fortune Sword, and acquired a peerless combat technique. Now, Su Yue had created another miracle. It was truly a joyous occasion.
"Yes, if I get the chance, I’d like to visit my teacher, Yan Dongyan. I can take a tour of the Weapons Department while I’m at it," Su Yue said, nodding.
In truth, a tour was all he intended it to be. In the Wet Realm, he had the Divine Soldiers Battle Axe, and in his Yangxiang Race state, he had the black water droplet. He practically had no need for the Research Institute’s weapons anymore.
"Su Yue, by using the Fortune Sword to help the Research Institute complete its task, I, Li Yongjun, owe you a favor.
"I know you have the Divine Soldiers Battle Axe in the Wet Realm, but the Divine Soldiers Battle Axe can’t be used on Earth. I will definitely help forge a weapon for you that is suited for use in the Divine Land.
"Honestly, the interior of the Divine Land isn’t completely peaceful either. It’s always a good thing to have a weapon for self-defense," Li Yongjun promised.
"Uh, thank you very much then, Director Li." Su Yue paused for a moment before nodding. It would be foolish to refuse a free offer. If he kept declining, he would just appear petty.
"Huh, is that... Jin Guoqian?
"Jin Guoqian from the Warring States Military Academy is here too!
"Look quickly, it’s Jin Guoqian!" a Nanwu student suddenly exclaimed.
Jin Guoqian? The strongest expert of the Warring States Military Academy had gone into seclusion in the Wet Realm a year ago, vowing never to return to the Divine Land until he broke through to Rank Five. He had actually achieved it.
Everyone’s gaze converged on him. Some students already knew the inside story—they knew Jin Guoqian had returned, and that he hadn’t just broken through to Rank Five, but was actually already at the late stage of the rank. Moreover, rumors were circulating that he had obtained a massive fortuitous encounter in the Wet Realm, refining his aptitude into the absolute highest tier. There were even prior legends claiming that Jin Guoqian was the prime candidate to break Bai Ziqing’s record. As for Su Yue, he was purely an unexpected variable.
In reality, Su Yue shouldn’t even be lumped in with Jin Guoqian’s cohort. Jin Guoqian’s true rivals were Bai Xiaolong and Meng Yang. Su Yue, a mere college freshman, had crashed the party, making this clash among Wuda Students seem somewhat comical. Su Yue’s rival was obviously supposed to be Du Jing’s Book.
"Jin Guoqian has come too. Well, it makes sense. He returned to the Divine Land specifically to look for an opportunity to break through to Grandmaster," Principal Nanwu remarked, pausing in surprise for a moment before smiling.
Today was truly a clash of Immortals. With Mu Cheng, Su Yue, and now Jin Guoqian, they were all candidates capable of breaking records.
"Haha, the young man from my Warring States Military Academy is here too. This is a good thing." Mu Jingliang had originally been preparing to leave, but seeing Jin Guoqian arrive, he decided to stay and observe the young man’s skill level.
The Warring States Military Academy directly trained reserve officers for the Divine Land’s Seven Great Legions, so it was the true stronghold of the Military Department. Graduates from the Four Great Martial Arts Academies, after all, only needed to complete basic military service.
