Chapter 1173 - 389: Epitaph of the Pinnacle

Su Yue fell into deep thought. Since he could move, why not see what lay in the depths of the sea? Even if there was nothing, he could just treat it as a sightseeing trip. Holding one foot in the air, his mind raced. This situation was simply too bizarre. The most likely reason was probably his connection to the Yangxiang Race. No one had a definitive conclusion, so Su Yue could only guess.

The Evil Spirit Broken Bridge was originally a demonic artifact forged by a Paragon of the Yangxiang Race, meaning it was created specifically for the cultivation of Yangxiang Race Martial Artists. Later, through various coincidences, the Dao Sect obtained the Evil Spirit Broken Bridge. After some effort on their part, the bridge was finally modified so that human Martial Artists could use it too. However, there were corresponding restrictions. For instance, the inability to lift one’s feet from the reef was likely the bridge’s restriction on humans. Of course, all of this was merely Su Yue’s speculation.

Gathering Qi Blood at the soles of his feet, he took a careful step forward while maintaining his Yangxiang Race physical form. At the same time, Su Yue prepared to retreat at a moment’s notice. After all, he was the first daredevil to risk his life exploring this anomaly; he had to prioritize his own survival. Luckily, the twenty-second tide that had been gathering on the sea’s surface bizarrely subsided the moment Su Yue stepped onto the water. Suppressing his nervousness, Su Yue cautiously walked into the distance.

This sea was peculiar. It looked vast and boundless, yet Su Yue had the illusion that it wasn’t actually that large at all. It wasn’t long before Su Yue spotted a small island. Gulping, he risked stepping onto it. In truth, the island was just a massive reef—completely bare and devoid of a single blade of grass.

Sure enough, there was something strange here. Sitting cross-legged in the middle of the island was a very short skeleton. Remarkably, the bones showed no signs of decay; instead, they were pristine white. It was a Yangxiang Race skeleton. Having slain quite a few aliens in the Wet Realm, Su Yue could easily identify it.

From the skeleton, Su Yue sensed a very pure Qi Blood fluctuation. It was incredibly strong. And deeply familiar. Yes... it was that terrifying aura, similar to Yuan Longhan’s. The owner of this skeleton must have been a Paragon of the Yangxiang Race. It was a good thing the being was dead, otherwise Su Yue wouldn’t even have the chance to run for his life. But why had he died here? This was clearly a demonic artifact. Su Yue couldn’t make sense of it. However, since it involved a Paragon, he didn’t obsess over analyzing it. There were many things in the world he didn’t know, and going down a rabbit hole would only give him a headache.

Right at that moment, a faint mist lit up on the island. Following that, the sea’s surface surged, and a massive screen of light abruptly materialized. Su Yue turned to look at the screen, his heart pounding wildly. He had anticipated that some anomaly might occur, but it still gave him a fright. Perhaps it was a dying message left by a Yangxiang Race expert. These capable powerhouses loved doing things like this so that future generations would remember them. Just like Bijie Cave, the Yangxiang Race seemed particularly fond of such practices. Perhaps it was a sort of epitaph for a Paragon. Humans also liked leaving inscriptions on tombstones, so Su Yue was already used to it.

Sure enough, a hunched Yangxiang Race Paragon appeared on the screen of light. With his head lowered, he looked more like a little zombie. Su Yue furrowed his brows. The background of the screen was the Wet Realm, but it looked somewhat different from the Wet Realm Su Yue had seen. It looked like a war was taking place. Or perhaps a thunderstorm. The sky flashed incessantly as twisted lightning wove into a massive net, looking as if it could blow the very sky apart. This was the true meaning of a thunderous cataclysm; even through the screen, Su Yue felt a trace of fear.

Under the flickering lightning, the Paragon’s entire body flashed as well, looking as though he might crawl right out of the screen. And right beside the Paragon was the Evil Spirit Broken Bridge. No. It should be the complete Evil Spirit Bridge; it hadn’t broken yet at that time.

"My descendants, by the time you see this recording, I will have already died in battle for the Yangxiang Race.

"By abandoning the people of the Holy Land Race, I, Bi Yun Cave, did not flee before the battle. I wanted to find a way to deal with the Thunder Race from the Outer Void.

"No matter how the Yangxiang Race spurns me, I, Bi Yun Cave, am no deserter.

"You have no idea how terrifying the Thunder Race is. Relying on the current strength of the Eight Races will only end in total annihilation. You are all fools! Bihui Cave is the biggest fool of them all! It is absolutely impossible for him to find the Thousand-Year World-Viewing Coffin; that legend is a lie."

Bi Yun Cave slowly raised his head. From his brief self-introduction, Su Yue could already confirm that this was a tragic figure who had died a thousand years ago. Even though Su Yue knew Bi Yun Cave was just a ghost, he still jumped in fright. It was exactly like watching a horror movie.

Bi Yun Cave’s face had been completely torn apart, covered in a crisscrossing network of deep gashes. Even his two eyeballs were obscured by scars. Coupled with the flashing lightning in the sky, it was simply the most horrifying scene Su Yue had ever witnessed.

As a Martial Artist, Su Yue was used to seeing dead bodies, but Bi Yun Cave’s face truly terrified him. The crux of the matter was that these wounds completely defied Su Yue’s understanding of injuries. Looking across the entire Wet Realm, no weapon could possibly inflict such scars. Moreover, Bi Yun Cave was a Paragon! In theory, a Paragon’s physical body could regenerate severed limbs, let alone some facial lacerations. He wouldn’t keep a face full of scars just to scare people; he must have been genuinely incapable of healing them.

At the same time, Su Yue felt a deep admiration for the Thunder Race, which his sister used to belong to.
