Chapter 789: Chapter 393: Double Happiness, Returning to the Village

Two years passed by like sand slipping through one’s fingers, gone in an instant, leaving behind only the faintest of traces.

Within a third-level office space of the magnificent Ninefold Immortal Palace.

Cheng Zongliang methodically packed his belongings, each movement calm and efficient.

As he packed, he carefully briefed his subordinates on their duties for the coming period. Once he was finished, he let out a long sigh.

He had been swamped with tasks, working nonstop for two years to complete all the necessary arrangements for the Immortal Realm.

He then turned and left the Ninefold Immortal Palace, returning to the Martial Arts Realm.

Over the past two years, Jade Peak Immortal City had been like a pearl, exquisitely polished by time. It now shone with a brilliance more dazzling than ever, displaying prosperity and liveliness at every turn.

This was especially true in the direction of the Celestial Break Mountain Range, where the city was expanding. A vast number of new buildings had shot up like bamboo shoots in spring, and the overall expansion project was nearing completion.

Two years prior, Wang Tianli had already completed the design for the Immortal City’s expansion based on Cheng Zongyang’s ideas.

With abundant resources and manpower in the Immortal City, everyone worked together, and the project progressed with remarkable smoothness.

This expansion did not divide the Immortal City into inner and outer districts. Instead, they first meticulously constructed the housing and environment on the periphery of the original city.

Every brick, stone, blade of grass, and tree was carefully designed and placed, making the new territory all the more magnificent and orderly.

Once the peripheral construction was complete, they would then dismantle the original city walls. This method ensured that existing commercial activities were not affected in the slightest, allowing the city to maintain its bustling prosperity.

Afterward, they planned to transform the land where the original city walls stood into a Spirit Water River. The river’s sparkling waters would contain dense Spiritual Qi, encircling the Immortal City like a flowing Jade Belt and adding a touch of dynamic beauty.

Finally, they would refurbish the grounds and surrounding decorations of the original Immortal City.

Cheng Zongliang first carefully inspected the overall progress of the project. His gaze swept over every structure. Seeing that everything was in perfect order and the work was far ahead of schedule, he nodded in satisfaction, a slight smile gracing his lips.

As the Immortal City’s population grew, the streets had become so crowded that people were practically shoulder to shoulder. This expansion would therefore greatly alleviate the congestion.

Afterward, he walked with a spring in his step to the Commerce Association to find Zhou Zhendong.

The Commerce Association was bustling with people coming and going, an extraordinary hubbub of voices interweaving as deals were made.

Cheng Zongliang spotted Zhou Zhendong at a glance; his tall figure stood out in the crowd.

"Cousin, are you ready?" Cheng Zongliang asked, his face alight with a smile and his eyes sparkling with excitement.

When Zhou Zhendong saw Cheng Zongliang arrive, he broke into a warm smile and nodded. "All ready. We’ll head back today, which is perfect for the day after tomorrow."

He, too, was filled with anticipation. The scene of the wedding flashed through his mind, and the corners of his mouth turned up unconsciously.

His fiancée was from the Cheng Family Manor. She had grown up in the manor, was a Cultivator, and was someone whose background they knew inside and out.

"Then let’s go. The elders must be getting anxious waiting for us. When my brother gets back and sees that we’re both getting married on the same day, he’ll probably be very surprised."

A sly smile touched Cheng Zongliang’s lips, his eyes twinkling with childlike mischief. He could already picture his brother’s astonished expression.

Zhou Zhendong didn’t know whether to laugh or cry. "He’ll be surprised, sure, but why are you so happy about it?"

As he spoke, he started walking outside, his steps light and joyful, his heart already infected by the festive atmosphere of the upcoming day.

Once they reached the back courtyard, Cheng Zongliang released the Flying Cloud Shuttle, stepped aboard, and said, "You’re the older cousin, and I’m the younger one. Now that both of us are getting married, but he isn’t, Mom, Dad, and our uncle will definitely give him an earful when he gets back."

His tone held a hint of schadenfreude, and his eyes revealed his teasing intentions toward his brother.

Realizing that was the punchline, Zhou Zhendong could only shake his head in resignation as he followed him onto the Flying Cloud Shuttle. "You’ve wanted to see Zongyang in a tight spot for a long time now, haven’t you? What, have you ever actually seen it happen?"

He chuckled and shook his head. ’This kid is already twenty. He’s so mature and steady when handling business, but right now he’s acting just like a child.’

"I have, when he’s with my mother."

Cheng Zongliang piloted the Flying Cloud Shuttle, which shot into the air and streaked toward the mountains like a bolt of lightning. The image of his brother being put in his place by their mother appeared in his mind, and he couldn’t help but laugh out loud.

"Will Zongyang make it back in time?" Zhou Zhendong asked, changing the subject.

"He will. There’s nothing my brother says he’ll do that he can’t accomplish."

Cheng Zongliang, for his part, was completely relaxed. He had absolute faith in his brother.

The two exchanged just a few more words of idle chat. The Flying Cloud Shuttle was so fast that the picturesque scenery below barely had time to unfold, the green mountains and clear waters flashing past in a blur. In the blink of an eye, they were already hovering above the village.

The village was enveloped in a soft glow—the halo emitted by a protective Array.

After Cheng Zongliang and Zhou Zhendong used an Array Order to enter the Cheng Family Manor’s Array, the sight before them warmed their hearts.

The entire manor was decorated with lanterns and colorful banners. Bright red silk ribbons adorned every corner, and vibrant flower baskets hung from the surrounding trees.

The two quickly landed in the open space in front of the manor’s ancestral hall. The Cheng Family Manor was a sea of crimson, and the celebratory atmosphere was so thick it felt tangible.

The manor’s residents were all busy with preparations. Children laughed and played among the flowers, their giggles echoing through the air like silver bells.

Elders sat by their doorsteps, their faces beaming with happy smiles and their eyes full of blessings for the two upcoming weddings.
