Chapter 785: Chapter 391: A New Concept; Establishing Merit Points
After all, the Hundred Poisons Body was a rare type of Physique. If it could be controlled, there was no need to eliminate it.
Of course, the Creation Space could also be used to forge other Physiques and the like.
Due to its unique and rare attributes, the Creation Space was destined to be used only in special and crucial domains.
After all, the Points it consumed were not inexhaustible. Wasting them on creating common, ordinary items would be an immense squander of Points. Therefore, there was naturally no need to use the Creation Space for simple objects.
For this reason, when establishing the rules for the Creation Space, he didn’t spend too much energy meticulously refining them. He simply jotted down some basic clauses without delving deep into perfecting the entire ruleset.
Most of his attention was focused on the Reincarnation Space.
This Reincarnation Space possessed the powerful function of controlling the rules of the Six Paths of Reincarnation for all inhabitants.
If he could utilize it skillfully, the new rules for Points he had meticulously conceived could be closely tied to the Six Paths of Reincarnation. This would allow him to construct a more complete and rational system for acquiring Points, as well as for the rules of Reincarnation itself.
He wanted to give every living being in the Realm of Ten Thousand Races a chance at Reincarnation, ensuring that all life within it would become more orderly and vibrant under this new set of rules.
He had even already decided on a name for the new type of Points.
At this stage, he had already established two types of Points.
The first was Universal Points. They had a wide range of uses, including healing, exchanging for daily items during minor rituals, and Spiritual Communication. They were already an indispensable and the most widely used type.
The second was Immortal Dao Points. This type of Point was relatively special, with clearly defined and limited uses. It could only be used to restore teleportation charges, receive a Realm-Breaking Blessing from a Divine Statue, enhance one’s Cultivation Talent, obtain Guidance on Opportunities, and acquire a Qi Fortune Blessing, which was crucial to a family’s rise or fall.
Each of these uses was intimately linked to advancing in the Immortal Dao and the long-term development of one’s family. The only way to obtain these Points was through rituals.
Now, the new type of Points he envisioned was called Merit Points.
Cheng Zongyang began to contemplate how they would be acquired and used.
「Two days passed in the blink of an eye.」
The Ring Spirit’s research on the rules had not yet yielded results, but Cheng Zongyang had already finalized the settings for Merit Points.
Currently, as the highest and most important type of Point, Merit Points had three primary methods of acquisition:
First, by completing tasks for the Ten Thousand Races. In the future, he would issue tasks for the Immortal Realm or the Ten Thousand Races under the title of Immortal Master.
These tasks would mainly focus on promoting the transformation of beings in the Realm of Ten Thousand Races or increasing the population.
Second, by slaying Demons and eliminating evil, performing good deeds to accumulate merit. This was, as the name implied, a system of karmic justice.
Killing any Human, Demon, Spirit, and Monster that disrupted the order of the Immortal Realm or harmed other living beings would naturally grant corresponding Merit Points.
’Although the death of Cultivators helps restore the Spiritual Qi and Spirit Veins of the Realm of Ten Thousand Races, that doesn’t mean life and death should be disregarded. It’s crucial not to lose sight of priorities or put the cart before the horse. Otherwise, what was the point of all my efforts to increase the population?’
Third, by pioneering new settlements.
This method was primarily aimed at factions. A faction could pioneer a new settlement for their population outside the Immortal Realm. If the population thrived and was later recognized and registered by the Immortal Realm, the faction backing it would naturally receive Merit Points.
However, these Merit Points would belong to the entire faction and would thus be designated as "Collective Merit Points."
These "Collective Merit Points" differed significantly from individually earned Merit Points in their use and distribution.
Individual Merit Points could typically be used as the individual saw fit. Collective Merit Points, however, existed primarily for the development and growth of the entire faction.
But he also established corresponding binding rules. ’This will prevent people from getting the Merit Points and then abandoning their responsibilities, turning it into a mere vanity project.’
Therefore, as long as these new settlements became more prosperous, they would continue to generate a steady stream of Merit Points. However, if a faction was "all seed and no harvest"—simply establishing a settlement and then leaving it to fend for itself, leading to its demise—the awarded Merit Points would be deducted, and they would receive one demerit. After three demerits, the faction would be blacklisted by the Immortal Realm.
These three methods would award varying amounts of Merit Points, but the reward for each instance would not be large, ensuring the scarcity of Merit Points.
Next were the uses for Merit Points.
First, survival! When a person had over 1,000 positive Merit Points, with negative Merit Points not exceeding ten percent of their positive total, upon death, all of their positive Merit Points would be automatically deducted to grant them a single, lossless resurrection. This effect could not be triggered with fewer than 1,000 points.
Second, Reincarnation! When a person had over 5,000 positive Merit Points, with negative Merit Points not exceeding ten percent of their positive total, they could, before death, spend all their Merit Points in exchange for a chance at reincarnation. This would allow them to awaken their past-life memories and receive an enhancement to their talent. The fewer negative Merit Points they had, the better their talent would be.
Third, Realm Breakthrough! With as few as 10 positive Merit Points, one could spend varying amounts of points to break through a Realm without any obstacles. For example: Innate to Qi Cultivation cost 50 points; Qi Cultivation to Foundation Establishment cost 100 points; Foundation Establishment to Golden Core cost 1,000 points; Golden Core to Nascent Soul cost 5,000 points; Nascent Soul to Divinity Transformation cost 10,000 points, and so on!
Fourth, protection! When a faction possessed over 10,000 Collective Merit Points, it could spend 10,000 of them to have the Immortal Realm itself guard and protect the faction for a period of ten years.
