Chapter 770: Chapter 385: Spirit Vein Origin; Another Backup Plan?
Its form was more condensed than the previous Ninth Grade one, resembling a lifelike, crouching dragon that radiated a majestic and divine aura.
Cheng Zongyang had collected numerous Spirit Veins before, yet he had never seen one so kaleidoscopic!
Colorless Spirit Veins were Universal Spirit Veins, which any Cultivator, regardless of their Spirit Root Attributes, could absorb and utilize.
But this new, five-colored Spirit Vein, with its intersecting hues creating an endless palette of colors, was something else entirely. You could see every color imaginable, yet it defied verbal description. The sight was truly breathtaking.
The overall impression it gave him was that of a cosmic treasure, much like the rendered Pillar of Creation, brimming with infinite mysteries and power.
"Ring Spirit, explain," Cheng Zongyang said, swallowing hard as his Divine Sense remained fixed on it. He truly couldn’t bear to destroy such ineffable beauty.
"It is still in the process of digestion and absorption," the Ring Spirit reminded him. "This is a Five Elements Spirit Vein Origin!"
The Ring Spirit seemed to realize something and sighed. "Five Eighth Grade Spirit Veins devoured and fused with one another to form a Five Elements Spirit Vein Origin! The previous master had so many contingencies!"
Cheng Zongyang instantly calmed down and frowned. "How is he involved in this again?"
"These five Eighth Grade Spirit Veins weren’t meant for the Cultivation Immortality Realm. The previous master prepared them for himself."
The Ring Spirit sensed the Five Elements Spirit Vein Origin and spoke slowly, "If I’m not mistaken, once the previous master and my predecessor reversed time to return, they would have used these five Spirit Veins to create this Five Elements Spirit Vein Origin and then forge a new Five Elements Body for himself."
Cheng Zongyang’s brow furrowed. "He was going to make a body out of this?"
"Yes," the Ring Spirit said. "The reason he didn’t use Ninth Grade Spirit Veins is that they devour any other Spirit Veins to strengthen themselves. That would have interfered with the arrangement of his contingency plan."
The Ring Spirit continued, "I never imagined he’d have this kind of contingency, but I started to suspect it after witnessing the birth of the first Ninth Grade Spiritual Vein and sensing the degree of its Spiritual Nature.
Now, I’m almost certain. They would use the Three Talents Reversal Array to return, then have the five Eighth Grade Spirit Veins devour one another to form the Five Elements Spirit Vein Origin. Afterward, he would use this Origin to forge a new body, transforming himself into a Five Elements Body. At that point, not only would his power be restored, it would be even greater!"
"So this Five Elements Spirit Vein Origin can’t be used for the Cultivation Immortality Realm?" Cheng Zongyang asked in return.
"The Cultivation Immortality Realm uses colorless Spirit Veins, which are universal. The Spiritual Qi they emit can be absorbed by humans, plants, and animals, regardless of one’s Spirit Root. However, the Five Elements Spiritual Qi from a Five Elements Spiritual Vein is a tier higher than Universal Spiritual Qi.
To make an analogy... think of fresh water and salt water.
Anyone can drink the former—fresh water—and it nourishes all living things. Salt water, however, is different. While anyone can drink it, you’ll run into trouble if you have too much, so it’s not for everyone. Moreover, salt water is downwardly compatible; it can absorb fresh water. But fresh water cannot be upwardly compatible.
The Cultivation Immortality Realm also has Five Elements Spiritual Qi, but these are simply five distinct types of Spiritual Qi—Metal, Wood, Water, Fire, and Earth—that can exist individually. This kind of Spiritual Qi can only be absorbed by lifeforms with a corresponding attribute.
But the Five Elements Spirit Vein Origin is an integrated whole.
The Five Elements Spiritual Qi emitted by the Five Elements Spirit Vein Origin is, in turn, different from those simple, distinct types of Five Elements Spiritual Qi.
To use another analogy, it’s like the difference between a salt crystal and salt water.
The Five Elements Spirit Vein Origin is a holistic entity. As you can see, it is kaleidoscopic. When you absorb it, you can only absorb the kaleidoscopic Origin Spiritual Qi, not just one or two discrete types of Five Elements Spiritual Qi.
A salt deposit underground will gradually dissolve and disperse over a long period. The Spirit Vein Origin is the same. Over time, it too will break down into ordinary Five Elements Spiritual Qi and Universal Spiritual Qi.
Therefore, the Origin Spiritual Qi emitted by the Five Elements Spirit Vein Origin is only suitable for one type of person—
Those with Five Spirit Roots, Five Spirit Bones, or both aptitudes simultaneously.
In other words, someone with an Immortal Body.
Only those with this aptitude can absorb the Origin from the Spirit Vein and break it down within their bodies. If someone who does not possess all Five Elements absorbs the Origin Spiritual Qi, the Qi will create a conflict among the elements inside their body, which is actually harmful.
The previous master must have had this kind of Physique. After using the Origin to reconstruct his body and transform into a Five Elements Body, he would have effectively fused his Spirit Root and Spirit Bone in a single step. At that time, he would be able to devour, absorb, and control all types of Qi related to the Five Elements.
Whether it is the Immortal Dao or the Divine Dao, both ultimately boil down to the control and application of rules. The Origin is the Dao, and the Dao is the foundation of all rules. By controlling the Origin, one can derive countless related rules. It is the next level of attainment. That was the previous master’s true goal!"
"Should I still enshrine it? If I do, I assume that guy won’t be able to use it, right?" Cheng Zongyang asked, his expression grave. He trusted the Ring Spirit’s words.
"Looks like we’ve unwittingly ruined one of his contingencies," the Ring Spirit said with a sudden laugh. "You can enshrine it if you want, but you could also absorb it yourself. The Cultivation Technique you practice will eventually elevate your aptitude to that of an Immortal Body. You’ll be able to reconstruct your body, too.
So, I’m more inclined to have you absorb it. While enshrining it would allow it to take form and aid the growth and development of Spiritual Power in the Realm of Ten Thousand Races, that power would ultimately not be your own."
But Cheng Zongyang asked, "If it’s enshrined and used for the Realm of Ten Thousand Races, how would that benefit you?"
He understood clearly that the Ring Spirit was the most important piece of the puzzle. He had figured that much out from the previous master’s elaborate contingencies.
Without the Ring Spirit’s counterpart, the previous master couldn’t have even dreamed of resurrecting. Only by making the Ring Spirit stronger would he himself have a solid foundation to stand on.
Upon hearing this, the Ring Spirit understood Cheng Zongyang’s meaning and said slowly:
