Chapter 751: Chapter 377: Sixth Grade Spiritual Vein; Su Wunian’s Possession
By now, he was familiar with the route.
However, while the idea was pleasant, reality was the exact opposite.
When he arrived at the Carefree Immortal Sect, he discovered that patrols throughout the sect were incredibly strict. Large numbers of Sect Disciples were using their Divine Sense to perform sweeps at regular intervals.
Although this method would consume the disciples’ Divine Sense, it was far more reliable than an Array.
The Five Great Immortal Sects had implemented corresponding defensive measures ever since learning what had happened to the Ji Family.
Therefore, after learning about the situation at the Carefree Immortal Sect, Cheng Zongyang had no choice but to retreat.
Although he could shield against Divine Sense, it didn’t mean the Sect was blind. Now that they were using manual Divine Sense scans, the location of the Spirit Vein was likely already being monitored through a host of other methods.
One of the reasons the Shadow Alliance had succeeded was likely because they, too, never expected someone could bypass the Teleportation Array, slip past the Restrictions and underground Arrays, and avoid alerting any other Arrays or Demons in the process. They must have thought no one could possibly accomplish all of that.
Back in the Hall of Ten Thousand Races, Cheng Zongyang asked the Ring Spirit, "Ring Spirit, what’s the status of the Spirit Vein tasks?"
"Seventeen First Grade, five Second Grade, and two Third Grade. There are no others for now."
"Looks like I’ll have to do it myself," Cheng Zongyang said, shaking his head.
’Everyone is just dawdling. That won’t do. If I don’t give them a little push, none of them will want to pack up and move. How am I supposed to execute my plan to get stronger then?’
And so, he continued his campaign to collect the Spirit Veins from the other factions.
Next, Cheng Zongyang took advantage of the Array Soul Stele to begin harvesting low-grade Spirit Veins. With the Array active, those families were completely helpless against him.
Although it cost a fair number of Points, it was worth it. The family factions could only watch helplessly as he made off with their Spirit Veins, after which they constantly ran to the Five Major Sects to file complaints.
While Cheng Zongyang was moving from place to place collecting Spirit Veins, in a village near Qian City, a man with graying hair was leading a ten-year-old boy away from the village.
"Master, are we going to the city?" the boy asked the man excitedly. "Lots of people from the village have gone to the city. They all went to live better lives. There aren’t many people left in the village anymore."
The man nodded, smiling at the boy. "Yes. Have you reached the Beginner stage with that Cultivation Technique?"
Hearing this, the boy’s smile grew wider. He nodded and said, "I have! I’ve reached the Beginner stage, Master! Does this mean I can fly like an Immortal now?"
The man’s expression was also one of great happiness. "Yes. You will become an Immortal, travel far and wide, and then venture to the Realm of Ten Thousand Races. That is a place where true Immortals exist."
"Master, will you take me there?" the boy asked, his eyes filled with yearning.
"I will." The man ruffled the boy’s hair and smiled. "It’s rare for me to find someone with your aptitude. Not only will I take you there, but you will also help me walk the path of an Immortal once more."
The boy didn’t fully understand, but his family’s life had improved. His master had helped them build a big house, healed his father’s leg ailment, cured his mother’s back and leg problems, helped his older brother get married, and even left them a lot of money. ’All I can do is listen to Master, cultivate until I become an Immortal, and help him in the future,’ he thought.
Soon, the man led the boy into a cave residence.
"Master, aren’t we going to the city?" the boy asked, looking around the cave residence with curiosity.
Inside were several cavernous rooms. Some were living quarters, some were filled with books, and one was filled with the aroma of medicinal herbs and countless bottles and jars.
"There’s no hurry. First, I will help you condition your body and stabilize your Cultivation," the man said kindly. "Go and read for a while. I’ll call you when the medicinal bath is ready."
"Yes, Master." The boy nodded and turned to enter the stone chamber where the books were stored.
The man activated an Array, sealing the cave residence shut. He then returned to the Pharmacy, lit a fire to boil water, and began adding various Medicinal Materials bit by bit, following a specific recipe.
As the water in the bubbling vat grew progressively darker, a thick, herbal aroma filled the room. The man nodded, very satisfied.
"Hu’Er, come here," the man called out.
"Coming, Master!" The boy’s response came immediately from the adjacent room.
Soon, the boy came to the Pharmacy. Seeing the furiously steaming medicinal broth, he couldn’t help but ask, "Master, what are we going to do?"
The man said, "Take off your clothes, go sit cross-legged on the meditation cushion over there, and continue Introducing Qi into the Body. Tell me when you reach your limit."
The boy suspected nothing. He had done this many times before and was very familiar with the process.
The man stirred the medicinal broth continuously, both to cool it down and to help the medicinal effects better infuse into the water.
About half an hour later, the boy’s face was beet red from the effort. He had no choice but to open his eyes and slowly exhale.
Seeing this, the man smiled faintly. "The temperature is about right. You can get in and soak now."
"Ah? Won’t it be scalding hot?" The boy walked over and worriedly dipped his hand in to test the water. To his surprise, he found that despite the steam billowing from the medicinal broth, the temperature was actually quite comfortable.
"Alright, get in," the man said with a smile.
"Okay!" This time, the boy didn’t hesitate. He grabbed the rim of the vat and climbed inside.
He was quickly submerged, with only his head and neck remaining above the surface.
"Continue meditating," the man said, tapping the boy on the head.
"Okay."
As the boy gradually entered a state of meditative Cultivation, the man watched him and nodded slightly.
Then, he moved to a stone platform on the opposite side and sat down, facing the boy across the medicinal vat. Next, his hands began to form a Sealing Technique, sending streams of a light-based Magic Technique into the boy’s body.
