Within Yuliu Manor, Wei Ziyi gave Su Mo two substantial gifts.
One is the Phoenix Order now lying in Su Mo’s embrace.
The other, however, is the Meteor Sword Zhan Ming, imprisoned within the City Lord Manor of Luoxia City!
Yet the true value of this gift does not lie in Zhan Ming himself, but in the consequences of Wei Ziyi’s act of placing this person in the City Lord Manor and making it known to all.
The Seven Extremes Hall knew that the one who leaked Su Mo’s itinerary to the Sword Master was none other than Meteor Sword Zhan Ming.
After that night, Zhan Ming went missing.
Hua Qianyu exhausted all efforts searching, to no avail, and ultimately Zhan Ming fell into Wei Ziyi’s hands.
So… who exactly made Zhan Ming divulge that matter to the Sword Master?
What was the purpose of this move?
Was it to pin this dirty trick on Hua Qianyu’s head?
Or was there another scheme?
Clearly, all the answers lie with Zhan Ming.
But will Zhan Ming speak?
Or even if Zhan Ming did speak, could his words be trusted?
There were too many uncertainties, which is why Wei Ziyi never intended to have Zhan Ming speak, but rather planned to use him as bait.
Whether Zhan Ming would speak, and whether his words would be credible, the ones truly concerned with this were never Wei Ziyi, and not even Su Mo was of utmost concern.
It was actually the person standing behind Zhan Ming who should be worried.
Things that might not have been in question became deadly uncertainties after Zhan Ming’s capture.
It was precisely because of this point that Wei Ziyi used Zhan Ming as bait.
The bait for the true mastermind behind the scenes.
Now, the fish… has taken the bait!
…
…
Luoxia City!
The night was deepening, and at this hour, apart from some night establishments still shining with lights, most other places were at rest.
The City Lord Manor was no different, with the exception of occasional patrols, there weren’t many others around.
The heavy footsteps of the patrolling guards broke the silence of the night, gradually disappearing around a corner of the courtyard.
Several black-clothed figures suddenly vaulted over the courtyard wall, landing soundlessly.
They exchanged glances, one gestured, and immediately they soared, expertly reaching a courtyard in no time.
The courtyard was small, and utterly silent.
The person inside the room had yet to rest at this hour; the candlelight was lit, casting shadows on the windows, evoking a sense of solitude.
The black-clothed men looked at each other, nodded, and simultaneously leaped into the courtyard from all directions.
They had assumed there would certainly be hidden guards around the courtyard, yet upon landing, surprisingly, no commotion was stirred.
Two black-clothed men who entered from the back flew in and opened the window, slipping into the room in a flash.
Inside the room, a lone figure was seated at a table, frowning deeply.
“Zhan Ming!”
One of the black-clothed men suddenly exclaimed.
The man at the table’s complexion changed: “You…”
“Come with us!”
Without waiting to hear what Zhan Ming had to say, the two black-clothed men were already at his side, swiftly pressing several acupoints on his body.
But they did not release the acupoints.
“Prisoner Dragon Finger by Wei Ruhan!?”
One of the black-clothed men’s expression changed, just as they heard Zhan Ming say:
“You shouldn’t have come, leave quickly!!”
But it seemed already too late to say this now.
In the courtyard, the firelight suddenly burst forth in great intensity, and the sound of footsteps became increasingly heavy. Patrolling guards holding torches formed a long line, approaching in the blink of an eye.
The two black-clad men exchanged a glance, each holding Zhan Ming as they stepped out of the house.
And at the moment they emerged, the gates of the courtyard were flung open.
A figure strode in, hands clasped behind his back, his eyes sweeping across the scene with a piercing coldness.
“Ladies and gentlemen, visiting the City Lord Manor at this late hour, if you do not stay for a few days, what would the friends in Jianghu say about our hospitality?”
A few black-clad men exchanged looks before one spoke up:
“So it’s Housekeeper Huang. We did not come with the intention of being guests; we only need to take this person away to seek an explanation!”
“Hmm?”
Housekeeper Huang’s gaze lightly swept over the man: “That is ludicrous. The person you are holding is an honored guest of our young lady; how can you just take him away? And why should you owe anyone an explanation? Even if there are matters that need to be addressed, it should only be after our young lady returns. You should present a card in person, which I will relay to our young lady for her judgment.
“It should not be by sneaking in at Yin Ye and taking someone hostage.
“I suggest you follow the example of the others before you, stay as guests, and perhaps I, Huang Yuan, could still mediate on your behalf with our young lady…”
“Shut your damned dog mouth!”
One of the black-clad men exploded in rage: “Huang Yuan, this is Luoxia City, and you are the City Lord Manor’s Housekeeper. We’ve given you a bit of respect and are speaking nicely to you. Otherwise, what makes you think you’re even qualified to speak with us?”
As his words fell, he turned to the black-clad man who had spoken earlier and said urgently: “Big brother, the City Lord will want an explanation for Zhan Ming. Why should we put the City Lord in an unjust position? Hesitation could mess up important matters for the City Lord.”
“That makes sense.”
As the black-clad man finished speaking, he swiftly lunged forward.
Without waiting for an attack, Huang Yuan, with his hands behind his back, was already met by the City Lord Manor’s guards flying into action.
They each targeted the black-clad men.
The martial arts of these men were indeed exceptional—although the City Lord Manor’s guards were one in a hundred, the attackers were not to be outdone.
The one who had first made a move towards Huang Yuan even shouted, “Remember to be merciful, do not harm their lives.”
“Thank you.”
Suddenly, Huang Yuan’s voice was heard, and as the black-clad man whirled around, he saw Huang Yuan’s thanking mouth but treacherous hands. Two fingers, wrapped in wind and thunder, were aimed straight at his heart.
He hurriedly put his arm out to block and followed with an elbow lift. With a dull thud, his elbow collided with Huang Yuan’s.
Upon the clash of Inner Strength, Huang Yuan staggered, retreating three steps back.
His complexion instantly changed, and by the time he looked up, the black-clad man was already upon him, his palms, unbeknownst when, pressing against his chest:
“My apologies!”
The moment Inner Strength touched and retracted, Huang Yuan was sent flying backward.
After hitting the ground, he spat out a mouthful of fresh blood: “Senluo Palm… You really are… from Hua Qianyu’s group!?”
As his words ended, his head tilted, and he directly fainted away.
With Huang Yuan taken down by a single hit, the rest seemed unable to withstand a single blow.
In just a moment, the black-clad men had broken through the encirclement and were carrying Zhan Ming away into the distance.
What they did not know was that on another rooftop of the City Lord Manor, three people had witnessed the entire scene.
“The Senluo Palm is the famed Absolute Skill of Tie Xiangying, a top expert under City Lord Hua. It seems they’re determined to pin this on him.”
Wei Ziyi, while teasing the Messenger Eagle on his shoulder, spoke softly.
“True or false, we will know once we catch up.”
Yang Xiaoyun, gripping the Dragon Abyss Spear, was eager to go.
Su Mo smiled and said to Wei Ziyi: “Manager Huang, he is quite a character.”
Wei Ziyi’s mouth twitched: “You flatter me.”
Then he addressed the Messenger Eagle: “Go peck at him.”
Instantly, the eagle cried out sharply and began circling above, after which it swooped down toward Huang Yuan.
Before even getting close, Huang Yuan had already opened his eyes and jumped up, running away as fast as he could, showing no signs of injury whatsoever.
He was quite clear-headed and knew what was happening, so as he ran, he called out softly, “Miss, spare my life!”
Looking up, the rooftop was empty; Su Mo and the others had vanished without a trace.
