Chapter 550 -301: If We Are Fated, We’ll Wait for You in the Upper Realm
Su Liyan cursed at the Daoists from the Celestial Dynasty Palace.
The abbot and the Grand Elder of the Celestial Dynasty Palace didn’t get angry, but one of the other Daoists stood up.
This Daoist pointed at Su Liyan and said, “Patron, please show some respect.”
Su Liyan turned to look at the middle-aged Daoist, hefting the Celestial Master Sword in her hand.
A wave of pressure bore down on the Daoist, making his robes strain and creak.
Laced within the pressure was a subtle, almost imperceptible killing intent.
Just as tensions reached a breaking point, the abbot of the Celestial Dynasty Palace’s expression turned cold. He barked at the Daoist, “Stand down!”
Turning back to Su Liyan, the abbot of the Celestial Dynasty Palace said with an amiable smile, “Patron, I give you my word on behalf of the Celestial Dynasty Palace. We have absolutely no intention of seizing it by force.”
Su Liyan looked toward her man.
Lu Yuan nodded, signaling for Su Liyan to hand the Celestial Master Sword to them.
Su Liyan was stunned. She sent him a mental message, ‘Honey, if you’ve been kidnapped, just squeak.’
‘Silly girl, I have a plan,’ Lu Yuan replied.
Only then did Su Liyan toss the Celestial Master Sword to them.
The group of Daoists from the Celestial Dynasty Palace took the Celestial Master Sword, huddling together to examine it.
“What a treasure!”
“Indeed. This is the Treasure of the Palace of our Celestial Dynasty Palace.”
“Yes, yes!”
…
The group of Daoists chattered away, each adding their own comments.
‘These old geezers, always running their mouths. It’s endless.’
Lu Yuan cleared his throat.
The abbot of the Celestial Dynasty Palace tucked the Celestial Master Sword behind his back and said,
“Patron, this old Daoist has just examined it. It is indeed authentic.”
Lu Yuan stroked his chin, pondering for a few seconds before speaking. “The great Celestial Dynasty Palace wouldn’t covet another’s prized possession, would they?”
“Even if it is your Treasure of the Palace, it was lost more than a century ago. It’s mine now,” Lu Yuan stated calmly.
The meaning behind Lu Yuan’s words couldn’t have been clearer: if they wanted the Celestial Master Sword, they would have to offer something in return.
The abbot of the Celestial Dynasty Palace said graciously, “Patron, if you could bear to part with it, this old Daoist is willing to trade any single item for it.”
“The Daoist Elder Order!”
Lu Yuan slowly spoke those four words.
Everyone present was stunned.
‘Asking for the greatest treasure right off the bat… isn’t Lord Lu being a bit too greedy?’
The Grand Elder of the Celestial Dynasty Palace was the first to object. “The Daoist Elder Order is immeasurably precious. How can we simply hand it over to an outsider?”
The Grand Elder speaking out of turn, before the abbot could, displeased Lu Yuan.
Su Liyan shot the man a cold glare, fighting the urge to tear him to pieces.
Lu Yuan shrugged, affecting an air of indifference. “Then there’s nothing to discuss.”
Lu Yuan held out his right hand, palm open, and gave it a slight twist.
The Celestial Master Sword in the abbot’s hand began to hum and tremble.
The abbot of the Celestial Dynasty Palace recited a Technique, attempting to suppress the Celestial Master Sword.
But the Celestial Master Sword in his hand refused to obey.
WHOOSH!
The Celestial Master Sword tore itself from the abbot’s grasp, shot into the air, and spun several times.
The abbot looked down at the web of his right hand, where a trickle of fresh blood was seeping out.
“Daoists, you’ve all seen for yourselves. This Celestial Master Sword has already acknowledged its master. Without my permission, no one can take it.”
Lu Yuan extended his right hand, and the Celestial Master Sword flew into his palm.
Only then did they understand: without Lu Yuan’s consent, the Celestial Master Sword would never belong to the Celestial Dynasty Palace.
A gleaming golden Token appeared before the crowd.
“Abbot!”
The group of Daoists cried out in unison.
Lu Yuan stared at the golden Token in the air, musing to himself, ‘I knew it. It’s one of the three Tokens passed down by Daoist Ancestor Laozi.’
Ancestor Yellow Emperor, Daoist Ancestor Laozi, and Sect Ancestor Zhang Daoling had each left three such Tokens in the world.
Lu Yuan already possessed the Tokens of Ancestor Yellow Emperor and Sect Ancestor Zhang Daoling.
He was only missing a Token from Daoist Ancestor Laozi to complete the set.
Each Daoist Elder Order was incomparably precious.
For that reason, no one had ever managed to collect a full set.
Possessing even a single Daoist Elder Order granted one an incredibly high status within the hierarchy of Taoism.
Therefore, Lu Yuan wanting to trade the Celestial Master Sword for the Daoist Elder Order held by the abbot could be considered an exchange of equal value.
Of course, if the abbot of the Celestial Dynasty Palace refused, Lu Yuan wouldn’t be handing over the Celestial Master Sword either.
‘It would be their refusal, not mine. And I’d have fulfilled my obligation to Emperor Gu Yuanzhang. There’s no such thing as a free lunch in this world.’
The other Daoists clearly did not want their abbot to hand the Daoist Elder Order to Lu Yuan.
Whether Lu Yuan deserved to obtain such a high status within Taoism was, in their minds, highly debatable.
Little did they know that Lu Yuan, already possessing two Daoist Elder Orders, held a status far exceeding their own.
Indeed, both items were incredibly precious.
For the abbot of the Celestial Dynasty Palace, parting with either one was an incredibly difficult choice.
The abbot hesitated, then after a moment’s thought, he said, “Patron, I have a proposal.”
Lu Yuan maintained his unhurried demeanor.
Seeing such composure in one so young, the abbot sighed to himself. ‘This is a man to befriend, not to offend.’
“This old Daoist has an idea. Why don’t we exchange them for ten years? After a decade, the Celestial Master Sword will be returned to you, Patron, and you will return the Daoist Elder Order to the Celestial Dynasty Palace.”
The abbot’s proposal was certainly a good solution.
Lu Yuan agreed immediately.
The abbot, not one for dawdling, tossed the Daoist Elder Order to Lu Yuan.
With a casual flick of his wrist, Lu Yuan sent the Celestial Master Sword into the abbot’s hand.
