Married To My One Night Mistake
Chapter 112: I forgive you Rose
Selen wanted her things, and she wanted them now. She threw the double doors of his room open without knocking.
Clancy was not there, but as she stepped inside, she felt his presence in it- the room felt like him.
The bedroom looked like how anyone would imagine his bedroom to look like, filled with dark shades.
She spotted her belongings immediately. He had not just stored them away in a closet, her boxes were stacked neatly near his executive desk, and her personal journals were placed directly on his side table.
He had moved her history into his bedroom as if she lived with him.
Selen stood alone in the center of the silent room, her eyes darting over the familiar handwriting on the labels of her stacked boxes.
Even though Clancy was not there physically, seeing her private journals resting right on his side table felt like a deliberate statement that he was not giving up easily.
She did not waste another moment analyzing his motives or lingering in the empty room. Selen quickly stepped out into the hallway and signaled the driver that drove her, directing him to load her boxes out of the room immediately.
The man moved quickly and quietly, carrying the little boxes down the staircase and out of the house. She stood guard in the corridor, her arms crossed as she watched.
As the driver cleared the last of the four boxes, Selen walked back to the side table and picked up her personal journals, gripping them tightly against her chest. She took a final look around the bedroom, letting the quiet finality of the moment sink in.
She had gotten exactly what she came for without having to face him, stripping the Avelino family of the last remaining access they held over her past. She turned on her heel and walked out of the room,
As she reached the bottom of the staircase, she found Rose and Jimmy waiting for her at the foot of the stairs.
The tension in the air was thick with so much undissolved resolve, but before Selen could speak or push past them, Rose suddenly began to plead once again.
“Selen, please, you have to forgive us”, Rose sobbed, her hands trembling as she looked at her with genuine panic and remorse. “We were so blind seven years ago. I am so deeply sorry for what we did to you under this roof. I genuinely regret the pain I caused you, Selen. Please, do not let our past cruelty ruin what Clancy is trying to fix” she begged.
Selen looked down at her, the raw desperation in Rose’s voice and the tears streaming down her face made it clear that she finally understood the depth of her own actions.
It was a complete and genuine regret, fueled by anything else. Rose simply looked at her and truly felt sorrow for the agony she had inflicted seven years ago, the weight of her past actions breaking through her pride.
Jimmy stepped forward next, his expression heavy with actual shame as he looked at Selen. “She is right, Selen. I am deeply sorry too. I should have looked closer into what my family was doing back then instead of letting my own pride distort my judgment.
You did not deserve any of the pain we inflicted on you”, he said quietly, bowing his head in a show of total submission.
Unlike his wife, Jimmy’s apology did not try to use any excuses to shield their past cruelty.
Selen stood perfectly still, clutching her journals tightly against her chest as she looked down at the couple.
Seven years ago, these people had treated her like an absolute calamity, forcing her to live in the servants quarters and showing her nothing but pure hatred. Seeing them completely stripped of their arrogance should have made her feel victorious, but she felt nothing but a cold, logical clarity.
Selen chose to extend her forgiveness, she needed to close this chapter completely so that she could breathe, and she needed her triplets to grow up without the suffocating shadow of an active family war hanging over their heads.
“Look up, Rose”, Selen said, her voice dropping into a calm tone. “You knew exactly what you were doing to me, and you did it anyway. I accept your apologies and I forgive you both, but do not mistake my words for pity or think that we are suddenly a family.
I am doing this entirely for myself and for my children. They deserve a life free from this generational toxicity, and I refuse to carry your malice around with me anymore. We are square, but we are separate” she said.
Rose slowly looked up at Selen, wiping her eyes hastily as a look of intense relief washed over her features. But then, she stepped a fraction closer, her hands shaking as she reached out slightly, though she did not dare to touch Selen.
“Thank you, Selen. Thank you. Please, we are begging you for one more thing. Let us see the children. We just want a chance to be grandparents to them. We want to see them grow up, to know them, to be part of their lives after all these years of missing everything”
Jimmy said and stepped closer.
Rose’s voice broke as she joined her husband’s desperate plea. “We are begging you, Selen. We have no right to ask this of you, not after what we put you through under this roof, but please do not keep them hidden from us.” She begged.
“We want to make things right for the kids. Let us see them, even if it is just for an hour, even if you are there watching our every move. We just want to hold our grandchildren” Jimmy said.
Selen watched them, her posture remaining rigid. She had granted them her forgiveness, but hearing them beg for access to the triplets did not change the boundaries she had set. Her family’s peace came first.
Selen did not say another word. She turned away from them, pushed open the heavy front doors, and walked out of the mansion with her head held high. She had reclaimed her history, she had locked away their leverage, and she had granted a forgiveness that entirely freed her from their control.
