Married To My One Night Mistake
Chapter 105: Going back to England, together
Clancy walked in with his usual commanding, effortless presence. He had unbuttoned his suit jacket, his tie slightly loosened from a long day of boardroom meetings. His sharp eyes immediately scanned the room, then landed on Selen.
He could instantly tell her demeanor .
"Good evening, Selen," Clancy said, stepping toward the sofa she was on. He offered a warm smile, though his brow furrowed slightly as he took in her serious expression. "
"Everything okay?" He asked, knowing that the tension from the previous night was still there. "The kids are fine, Clancy. They are upstairs," Selen said, gesturing for him to take a seat opposite her. "Please, sit down. There is something important we need to discuss."
Clancy sat down, his focus entirely locked onto her as he waited to hear what she had to say.
"I am leaving," Selen announced, keeping her voice entirely level as she looked him directly in the eyes. "The kids and I are moving to England next week. We will be staying at an estate in Kent for the next six months." She said,
Clancy’s posture tightened instantly. For a rare fraction of a second, his calm demeanor cracked, his eyes widening slightly as the sheer unexpectedness of the news caught him off guard. "Kent?" He asked her. He could not tell yet if it was good or bad news to him.
"Selen, what is this about? Is this because of what happened last night? If we need to discuss boundaries, or if I overstepped the-" he began to say but she caught him off.
"It has nothing to do with last night, Clancy," Selen interrupted, her tone firm, leaving absolutely no room for misinterpretation. "The medical board finalized the approval for Diana’s specialized treatment facility in Kent. The clean air and the clinical specialists there are exactly what she needs right now. The ministry is fully funding the relocation and providing the estate. I made the final decision today." she said.
Clancy leaned back against the sofa, his mind quickly processing the logistical reality of what she was saying. A profound wave of relief and internal satisfaction washed through him.
England was his home. It was his territory, the center of his empire. He knew the Kent countryside like the back of his hand. If she was moving there, it meant they would be in the same geographic circle. He would not have to navigate the distance or the constant back and forth travel just to see her and the kids.
To him, this felt like an alignment of fate.
"I see," Clancy said, his deep voice smoothing out as he regained his composure. A quiet, undeniable warmth settled in his chest. "If Kent is where Diana gets better, then that is exactly where you need to be. The timing is sudden, but it still makes perfect sense." He said
Selen saw the subtle relaxation in his shoulders and immediately read the shift in his energy. She knew exactly how his mind worked, and she was not about to let him misinterpret this move as a victory for him or a step closer to a shared future.
"I need to be very clear about something, Clancy," Selen said, leaning forward slightly to emphasize her words. "This move does not in any way mean anything for our relationship. I am not relocating to England to be closer to you, nor am I doing this to give you easier access to my family.
This is entirely about Diana’s health and what is best for my children. Nothing more, nothing less." She said in a firm tone.
Clancy’s expression remained perfectly composed, but internally, her sharp boundaries did little to dampen his spirits.
He was a strategist, he dealt in long-term investments and patience in his line of work. The reality was simple to him, she was going back to England, and he would be there too.
He did not need a formal confession of love right now. The physical proximity alone was a massive win for him. "I understand, Selen," Clancy replied smoothly, keeping any trace of his internal triumph entirely out of his voice.
"You do not have to defend your decision to me. Your priority is the children, as it should be. I respect that completely." He said
"Good," Selen said, letting out a quiet breath, relieved that he was not fighting her on the boundaries. "Because next week, when we get on that plane, my focus will be entirely on getting Diana settled and helping David and Daniel adjust to their new school. I do not have the time to meet up with anyone’s expectations." she said. ℯℯ𝘭.𝘤ℴ𝘮
"You will not have to," Clancy assured her, his tone completely supportive. "I am staying here for the next few weeks to finalize the current corporate acquisition. My schedule is locked in here. But since my main offices are in London, I will be flying back to the UK eventually. I would like to visit the kids at the estate when I am in the country, if you will allow it of course" he said.
Selen considered this for a moment. She had already promised the kids that Clancy might visit, and she did not want to deprive them of his presence when they were adapting to a completely new environment. One that he himself was very familiar with.
"You can visit them, Clancy. They already asked if you were coming on the plane, and I told them you had work to manage here. But any visits need to be coordinated in advance. The estate in Kent is meant to be a calm sanctuary for Diana’s recovery." she said.
"Of course," Clancy agreed without hesitation. "Everything will be on your terms. I will have Patrick review the security details and the travel dossiers the ministry provided, just to ensure that the estate staff in Kent has everything perfectly prepared for your arrival." He said.
He stood up from the sofa, fastening the single button of his suit jacket. The air between them was still heavy with unresolved personal tension, but the foundation of their interaction remained completely solid.
