Married the Sick Uncle – Just Waiting to Inherit His Fortune
Chapter 467: Stella Shields’s Blind Date
He knew Justin Shields held a grudge against him. It would be strange if Justin *didn’t* resent him after what he’d done to the Shields Family.
However, Justin was taking in Charles Prescott, and Charles was actually willing to go to the Shields Family... All of this surprised Nathan Fawcett.
Butler Walters had only intended to inform Nathan Fawcett of the matter. Seeing that he didn’t seem to care, he said no more.
Before long, Anna Linden came to give Nathan Fawcett a check-up and then cleared him to go home.
Leaving the hospital room, Nathan Fawcett went downstairs.
He saw Anne Sutton surrounded by people. "Dr. Sutton, please, you have to help us."
It was the same man and woman from last time. The man was pestering Anne Sutton, insisting she check if the baby in his wife’s belly was a boy or a girl.
It was a mystery where the man found the energy, as he was here every other day.
Anne Sutton said, "The hospital has rules. We really can’t do that kind of thing."
"If you don’t say anything, who’s going to know! We’re just curious."
"Curious about what?" Anne Sutton was losing her patience. "Is the baby’s gender that important? I heard you already have two daughters at home, so you’re desperate for a boy. What’s the plan? If I check and it’s a girl, are you going to get rid of it?"
She had put up with this for days, and now she couldn’t stand it anymore, so she just spoke her mind.
Her words hit a nerve. The man was instantly displeased. "Who said that? What right do you have to slander me?"
"If that’s not it, then why are you here every day asking?"
"Fine!" The man glared at her. "Sutton, don’t think I don’t know what’s going on. What do you have to be so smug about? I heard you and President Fawcett had a falling out! What’s with the act? Do you really think you’re so special? You even dared to reject President Fawcett’s proposal! Let’s see how high and mighty you are without him."
’Thinking about how Anne Sutton even dared to reject Nathan Fawcett, it suddenly made sense that she’d reject him.’
’Just an ungrateful bitch!’
Just as he finished speaking, Nathan Fawcett walked up and stood behind him. "What did you just say?"
The man turned around, saw Nathan Fawcett, and froze for a moment before fawning, "Pres... President Fawcett. I was just here for a small matter. What brings you here?"
Seeing Nathan Fawcett’s grim expression, the man asked with feigned concern, "Are you sick?"
Nathan Fawcett stared at the man. "What were you just saying to Dr. Sutton?"
The man glanced back at Anne Sutton, then said to Nathan Fawcett, "I just saw how unreasonable she was, so I said a few words to her. For a woman to act like this... after you’ve been so good to her..."
Before he could finish, Nathan Fawcett snorted coldly. "You’ve got some nerve, bad-mouthing her right in front of me."
Nathan Fawcett walked to Anne Sutton’s side and looked at her. "You okay?"
"I’m fine," Anne Sutton said. "Why did you come down?"
"I’m about to be discharged."
Nathan Fawcett said, "I came down and immediately saw you being bullied."
The man’s wife was sharp. She could tell that the proposal incident hadn’t affected Nathan Fawcett and Anne Sutton’s relationship, so she quickly pulled her husband back. "Honey, let’s go home."
Nathan Fawcett looked at him and instructed Butler Walters, who was standing nearby, "Cut off all of his collaborative projects with our company. I don’t want to see him again."
Hearing this, the man frantically looked at Nathan Fawcett. "Pres... President Fawcett! I’m sorry, it’s my fault... I shouldn’t have..."
"If ’sorry’ fixed everything, what would we need the police for?" Nathan Fawcett looked at Anne Sutton. "Let’s go. I’ll take you back."
The two of them left right away.
Anne Sutton looked at Nathan Fawcett. "Isn’t he one of your company’s partners? You’re not going to work with him anymore?"
"I don’t know him that well," Nathan Fawcett said. "What’s the deal? Does he come here and bother you often?"
"His wife is pregnant, and he insists on having me check if the baby is a boy or a girl. You know we’re not allowed to disclose that kind of thing. He kept insisting, and even mentioned he has a good relationship with you."
Nathan Fawcett said, "If something like this happens again, tell me directly."
"It wasn’t a big deal. I didn’t let it bother me."
Nathan Fawcett walked Anne Sutton to her office door. He looked at her and said, "Well, I’m heading back now."
"Your mom said you could go?"
Nathan Fawcett nodded. "I’m all better, and I’ve been away from the company for two days already, so I’m heading back."
"Go on, then." Anne Sutton watched him.
After two days in the hospital, his complexion wasn’t looking great.
Nathan Fawcett looked at her, leaned in, and gave her a quick kiss on the cheek.
Anne Sutton: "..."
By the time she snapped out of it, the man had vanished from her sight.
...
For the past two days, Stella Shields had been at home.
She hadn’t gone to the film set; Justin Shields had called in sick for her.
At noon, the siblings had lunch together.
Justin Shields had come back from the office specifically to be with her.
Seeing her sitting there, looking listless and unhappy, Justin Shields said to Stella Shields, "Change your clothes in a bit. You’re coming out with me."
"Where are we going?" Even though she’d been cooped up at home for two days, Stella Shields still seemed uninterested in everything.
Justin Shields said, "We’re going out to meet a friend. It’s not good for you to be moping around at home all day, don’t you think?"
Stella Shields looked up at her brother and nodded.
She had slept for two days straight, barely even looking at her phone. She felt like she was getting rusty.
Now that Justin Shields was asking her to go out, she figured she could use a change of scenery.
...
Stella Shields went upstairs, changed her clothes, and then Justin Shields took her out.
When they arrived at the club, Stella Shields followed Justin Shields to where a middle-aged man was sitting.
He was quite handsome, looking to be in his forties.
For a man his age, he was definitely one of the more distinguished ones.
Justin Shields said, "Mr. Hawthorne."
The man, who wore glasses, saw Justin Shields and gave a slight nod from his seat, carrying an air of superiority.
Justin Shields made the introduction, "This is my sister, Stella."
Silas Hawthorne glanced at Stella Shields. "We’ve met before."
Stella Shields was a huge star.
Justin Shields was a little surprised. "Mr. Hawthorne, you’ve met my sister?"
Silas Hawthorne said, "Isn’t she everywhere on the streets?" Her posters were all over the city.
Realizing he was joking, Justin Shields laughed along.
He looked at Stella Shields and said, "This is Mr. Hawthorne, the owner of Apex Group."
Stella Shields had heard of Apex Group before.
But...
She said, "I’m not interested."
’She had thought her brother was just taking her out for fun, but it turned out he’d brought her on a blind date?’
’And with an old man in his forties, no less?’
She felt a flicker of annoyance.
Justin Shields smiled and tried to smooth things over. "My sister has a bit of social anxiety. She’s used to being at home, so she gets a little nervous meeting people like you, Mr. Hawthorne. Please don’t mind her."
"It’s fine."
They played a bit of ball, then sat down. In the middle of it all, Justin Shields took a phone call and left, leaving Stella Shields there.
Stella Shields waited for a while, but he didn’t come back. She picked up her phone and sent him a message: "Justin Shields, where the hell did you go?"
