Chapter 123 Zhang Wei become the new president?

“What do you really need?” Wu Xue questioned, her eyes narrowing suspiciously as she began to sense that something was off about Zhang Wei.

Zhang Wei put on a show of feigned exasperation and sighed deeply, “Ms. Wu Xue, do you really have to treat your new boss like this? Don’t you love your job anymore?”

“Boss?” Wu Xue furrowed her brows, wearing an expression torn between laughter and bewilderment. “Since when did you become my boss?” she asked, wondering why he was lying when he could have simply claimed the seat.

‘If he wanted to sit in the chair, he could’ve just done it. Why the deception?’ she thought.

However, as long as Lin Ruoxi wasn’t around, she didn’t particularly mind him taking the seat. But still, such a blatant lie was hard to overlook.

Zhang Wei smiled faintly and prodded, “Have you checked your emails today?”

“Emails?” Wu Xue appeared surprised, while Zhang Wei continued to gaze at her steadily. Eventually, she let out a defeated sigh and returned to her workspace to fetch her laptop and check her emails.

“What!?” A gasp of astonishment escaped her lips as she came back, and looked back at Zhang Wei in disbelief. “H-How is this possible?”

Zhang Wei smirked and replied, “Just as I managed to be here,” he pulled out Lin Ruoxi’s access car waving it towards her.

Wu Xue’s footsteps echoed through the office as she hurriedly walked over to verify it, the sound of her heels clicking against the hardened floor.

After a closer inspection, she let out another sigh and slumped into the chair in front of Zhang Wei’s desk. 𝑂𝑽𝓵xt.𝗇𝓔t

“B-But why?” Wu Xue’s voice sounded tired as she glanced at Zhang Wei with a mix of emotions, “Why would Ruoxi hand over the management to you? Even if she’s going somewhere, it doesn’t make sense!”

Suddenly, Wu Xue’s memory was jogged, and she narrowed her gaze at Zhang Wei. “You were with Ruoxi yesterday, right? Did you do something to her?” she asked, her suspicion apparent.

Zhang Wei shook his head helplessly, “Your President Lin was indeed influenced by me. She fell in love with me overnight and accidentally hit her head in happiness. Now, she’s taking a two-week break to recover.”

Wu Xue’s lips twitched as she tried to hold back a curse. ‘Fell in love? Hit her head? Two weeks to recover? Does he take me for a fool?’

However, looking at the email, Wu Xue felt helpless. It came from Lin Ruoxi’s official email ID, stating that she would be temporarily absent and entrusting the company affairs to Zhang Wei, along with her access card, instructing Wu Xue to cooperate with him.

Zhang Wei had written this email in the morning, and gaining access to Lin Ruoxi’s laptop was easy for him given his expertise.

In frustration, Wu Xue stormed outside the office and tried calling Lin Ruoxi in the hallway, but after several unsuccessful attempts, she returned to her chair, slumping into it with a mix of emotions.

Zhang Wei’s eyes flickered with pity as he shook his head in apparent sympathy.

Wu Xue shot a quick, anxious glance at him before blurting out, “I need to talk to Ruoxi!”

A mischievous grin crept across Zhang Wei’s face. “Don’t you have her contact? Just give her a call.”

Wu Xue let out an exasperated sigh, frustration evident in her voice. “If she were even picking up my calls, why would I be seeking your help?”

Zhang Wei nonchalantly shrugged, giving off an air of secrecy. “Maybe you should be patient. She’ll reach out to you in a few days and explain everything. I’m not at liberty to reveal more.”

Wu Xue narrowed her eyes, suspecting that he knew more than he let on. ‘So, he’s definitely hiding something,’ she thought.

Finally, Wu Xue made a silent decision not to escalate the matter further.

It wasn’t because she couldn’t handle it, but unleashing this issue could potentially wreak havoc she wasn’t prepared for.

The email hadn’t been sent exclusively to her; all the top executives of the company received it.

While others might simply confirm the change with Wu Xue and move on, Wu Xue knew that speaking out would trigger a massive panic within the company.

Maintaining stability was crucial, especially since their companies were already facing relentless blows from the Wang group, one after another.

The attacks had already begun, and they were losing significant ongoing contracts.

Though Wang Haoran was unconscious, his vigilant bodyguards would surely report the entire incident to the Wang family.

But Wu Xue refused to let the matter rest. If she received no response by tomorrow, she had decided to pay a visit to Lin Ruoxi’s home. And if she found anything suspicious, she would have no choice but to involve the police.

After all, who could guarantee that Zhang Wei wasn’t secretly colluding with the Wang group and had abducted their company president?

Wu Xue’s thoughts raced, wild scenarios playing out in her mind.

Gazing at Zhang Wei, who wore a constant, unnerving smile and refused to reveal any more information, she let out a weary sigh.

Her voice tinged with exhaustion, she spoke, “If you need something, call me. Don’t take matters into your own hands!” With these words, she rose from her seat and wearily rubbed her temples before retracing her steps back to her cabin.

[Host, are you certain this is a good plan?] the System questioned, its doubt evident.

Shaking his head in response, Zhang Wei scoffed. ‘No, it’s far from good. Once she contemplates everything after returning home today, I’m certain she’ll march right back here tomorrow, ready to confront me. This plan is nothing but garbage.’

[…Then how do you propose we handle this situation?] the System inquired, unable to discern Zhang Wei’s intentions.

A sly smile curled upon Zhang Wei’s lips. “How shall I deal with her?” His gaze suddenly fixated on the swaying sway of Wu Xue’s hips and the seductive wiggle of her rear end as she walked—his breath catching in his chest.

In one swift motion, he swept his hands across the table, causing a file to cascade onto the floor.

“Hm?” Wu Xue halted her steps, casting a curious glance over her shoulder.

Seizing the moment, Zhang Wei spoke up. “Ms. Xue, could you kindly retrieve that for me?”

Narrowing her eyes slightly, Wu Xue couldn’t help but wonder, ‘Can’t he pick it up himself?’ Nonetheless, without uttering a word, she approached the desk and gracefully bent down to retrieve the fallen file.
