Manaless Mage

Chapter 41 A Prodigy!

Any normal person would have been intimidated by Troy’s question, the pressure would have affected and shaken their heart, although Troy only released a little bit of his pressure, it was still too much for a normal human being. However, Harry was anything but a normal person.

Harry pretended to be intimidated by taking a step back and making a terrified expression. Although he wasn’t sure but from the way Troy was staring at him, it wasn’t hard to get that he was trying to intimidate him.

Troy’s mana core should at least be at the fifth stage, it would be strange and suspicious if he wasn’t affected by it. He wasn’t sure if his acting was good enough to deceive Troy but he hoped it did.

“I-I’m only here to re-take… the affinity test.” Harry ‘stuttered’. His words weren’t lies as he was truly in the hall to take the affinity test.

Troy kept his gaze on Harry for a few more seconds before finally retracting his pressure. He took a few steps back as said, “Why do you want to take the test again?” He muttered.

“I just want to… take the test again…” Harry’s voice trailed before he continued. “To try my luck if I have awakened my affinity…”

Troy hummed silently for a few seconds before he turned around and started walking towards the platform at the middle of the hall.

His steps slowed as a complicated expression suddenly appeared on his face. “…I doubt you would truly have awakened your affinity. You’ve passed the age limit, but I won’t stop you from taking the test.” He said.

Harry simply nodded his head while putting on a sad expression. He knew Troy’s words were true; a person couldn’t awaken an affinity after the age of twelve. However, that was for ‘normal people’ not him.

Although Troy wasn’t sure if Harry would really have an affinity, he couldn’t help but be curious.

The first time he checked Harry’s foundation, he was surprised that it was shattered. He was also curious but he simply lost interest a few months later.

Though he found it strange that Harry’s mana core foundation suddenly mended itself and became solid, he couldn’t deny it as there was no way his mana sense would lie—or so he thought, the proof was right in front of him.

After walking for sometime, they finally reached the middle of the hall.

On the platform, there was something similar to a podium. It had a small V-shape opening at the middle where the crystal would be placed.

At the bottom, there was a small drawer. Troy crouched slightly and opened the drawer, he brought out a middle size crystal.

The shape of the crystal was similar to an hexagon, except the edges weren’t sharp or pointy but were rather smooth.

This was none other than an affinity crystal.

He placed the crystal in the V-shaped opening, after setting it for a few seconds it finally fitted perfectly. ‘Now let’s see… if you would really awaken an affinity.’ Troy mumbled inwardly.

He motioned for Harry to step closer to the platform as he pressed a small blue button located at the middle of the podium.

Harry didn’t need anyone to tell him what to do. He stared at the affinity crystal with a complicated gaze before finally placing his hand on the crystal.

Immediately he placed his hand on the crystal, a bright three-coloured light shone from the crystal. It shone so brightly that it illuminated the entire hall.

Troy instinctively closed his eyes while turning his head away from the crystal. He felt like he would go blind if he stared at the crystal for one more second.

However, Harry was unaffected by the by the bright light. In fact, it even made him feel slightly invigorated for some reason.

His mouth was agape as he kept his attention on the affinity crystal that was currently reflecting three bright colours; blue, pink and brown. Although he already knew his affinities, he couldn’t help but be entranced by the crystal

After a few seconds, the light finally dimmed, it still shone brightly but not up to the point where one couldn’t stare at the crystal.

Troy was shocked when he saw the colours shining brilliantly on the crystal. He could easily stare at it now that it had finally dimmed.

“Three peak grade affinities…” Troy muttered in his daze. Although the crystal seemed to be a lot more brighter than it would for a peak grade affinity, he classified them in the peak grade category because that was the highest grade.

People with peak grade affinities were so rare that only about five to ten out of all the children in the world were tested to have peak grade affinities annually.

Throughout Troy’s life, he had only seen one person with peak grade affinity and that was the current top one in the academy, and now Harry didn’t just have one affinity with the highest grade but three!

Not only that but he also had a very solid mana core foundation, meaning he was extremely talented; a prodigy!

A slight smile appeared on Harry’s face as he stared at the shocked expression on Troy’s face.

However, Troy was wrong about one thing: his affinities weren’t peak grade but perfect grade!

He could still remember his conversation with the system.

***

‘So system, my affinities are at which grade?’ Harry asked the system.

[The Host has perfect affinity to all his elements. All the Hosts affinities are perfect grades.]

A slight crease appeared on Harry’s brows when he heard the system words. His expectation was that his affinities would perhaps be high grade… or even peak grade. He had never heard about a perfect grade affinity.

However, from the name, it basically meant he had perfect affinity to probably all elements and it didn’t seem like a bad thing either.

‘I guess that’s higher than peak grade…’ Harry mumbled inwardly with a slight smirk on his face. 𝗼𝘃𝗹.𝗼𝐫𝗴

[Yes Host. Host shouldn’t compare his affinities with that of normal people, Host is the Manaless mage!]

Harry rolled his eyes at the system’s words. The system seemed to have a narcissistic side too. Whenever he tried to compare it with the ‘normal’ things of life, that narcissistic side always came out.

***

Although Troy had always kept a composed expression, this was the first time he was really shocked. ‘How did he awaken an affinity… is he just lucky or… could it be that…?’ He mumbled inwardly.
