Manaless Mage

Chapter 20 [Bonus ] Talented, But Stupid

The instructor slightly squinted his eyes as he looked at the figure of Han lying weakly on the ground, Han’s eyes were still red from the intense pressure he put on his mana core and veins were still bulging slightly at the sides of his neck.

Just as Han was about to pass out, he sprinted over to him. He supported Han’s figure with one hand, he then brought out a high-grade healing pill from his pockets. He then dropped the pill into the student’s mouth, Since Han wasn’t unconscious yet, the process didn’t take long as he was able to swallow the pill on his own.

Leon knew the principal would never forgive him if he let one of the academy’s most talented students die, so he overlooked the other two unconscious students and focused on Han.

The healing pill immediately started taking effect, as Han’s bloodshot eyes started regaining their former white colour, and the bulging veins around his neck gradually receded.

Leon gently placed his hand on Han’s head, to check the condition of his mana core. He shook his head in pity when he saw the condition of Han’s mana core.

‘If he had used overload for one more minute, his mana core would have cracked. A very talented kid but stupid… very stupid, using magic spell overload in a mealiness fight like this. Now his mana core has gone back to stage one, talented, but stupid.’ Leon thought.

Seeing people like Han with high-grade affinities and the potential to reach the seventh mana core stage(grand mage) waste their potential and time on useless things made him feel that life really was unfair.

Compared to them, he had a medium-grade affinity and his mana core had already reached its stage limit. Although he would like to progress and become an elemental mage, he wouldn’t be able to… and yet, someone with the potential to do so was wasting time and energy on useless things.

He sighed as he slowly got up, he moved over to the unconscious figures of Nell and Ace.

‘I wonder how the principal would react if he found out about this.’ He said inwardly as he placed one healing pill in Nell’s mouth, except this time the pill wasn’t high grade but medium grade.

He had to use some force in order to get him to swallow the pills because they were still unconscious. He also moved over to Ace and repeated the process.

‘I wonder what made them fight to the extent that Han used magic spell overload.’ He thought while looking around.

They were really lucky that the fence around the academy was very high; otherwise, countless people walking by would have witnessed their ‘little fight’.

The instructor couldn’t help but wonder what would have happened if he hadn’t stopped Han’s attack on time.

A few minutes ago, Leon was merely strolling around the academy when he noticed something strange—Only a few kids were roaming about. This struck him as odd, so he decided to thoroughly inspect every area of the academy.

However, after checking for a few minutes, he wasn’t able to find anything out of place, except for the fewer students. He gave up and simply continued taking his stroll, as he got closer to the academy’s entrance, he started hearing murmurs.

Leon carefully traced those murmurs which led him directly to the lecture hall.

He forgot about everything else when he heard Han activate the overloaded spell, and he immediately used his tier two spell; ‘earth wall’ to defend Harry from the attack, he was quite sure that the spell would surely kill Harry, who doesn’t even have a mana core.

“Arrg, what…. happened?” Nell said groggily. He felt a bit woozy like he had a hangover.

He shook his head sideways in a bid to get rid of the dizziness in his eyes. He blinked twice as his gaze settled on a student with dark brown hair, his sight immediately cleared as all that happened came flooding back to him.

Fear took over him as he instinctively moved back, only to find himself being supported by a pair of strong hands. Nell slowly turned his head backwards, his eyes widened when he saw the bald man standing behind him.

“I-instructor… Leon, I—,” he started stuttering, but was interrupted by the deep voice of the instructor.

“It’s fine, just tell me what happened?” The instructor said.

Nell gulped, his gaze turned towards Ace who had also regained consciousness, just like him, Ace was also panicking. He then looked at Han, however, Han simply turned his head away in annoyance.

Nell took this as Han permitting him to speak, not that he hadn’t made up his mind to tell Instructor Leon about everything that happened, even if Han wasn’t okay with it.

He then faced the instructor and went on to explain everything that happened, making sure he didn’t miss any detail.

After hearing Nell’s account of what happened, the Instructor couldn’t help but grimace. He knew Nell couldn’t possibly have lied to him, since he was still letting off pressure on all the students—including Nell—but he still found something amusing.

‘Harry doesn’t have a mana core but yet he defeated the three of them, and from how Nell explained everything, he seemed to have done it quite easily.’ Leon thought as he stared at Harry.

At first, He found it strange that Harry would defeat Han who was a stage two Elementalist. He even pushed Han to the extent that he used magic spell overload.

However, the more he thought about it, the more it seemed to make sense. Since Harry used to partake in combat mage training, it was only natural that he would be physically stronger than Han. Han also rushed in without casting any spell or using his mana, leaving himself open to attacks. .

‘Han, being the stupid kid that he is, felt so angry and humiliated that he used magic spell overload.’ Leon thought.

Though he found it strange that Harry was able to dodge Nell’s water ball spell and was also strong enough to break Han’s wrist, he didn’t bother himself too much about it, he had bigger problems to deal with — like how to explain to the principal that the mana core of one of the elite students of the academy just dropped by one stage.

Just the thought of it gave him headaches, a sigh left his lips as he turned to Harry.

“The four of you should head to the principal’s office,” Leon said. Although he didn’t point to any student and only faces Harry while saying this, everyone knew the students he was referring to—Han, Harry, Nell and Ace.

‘At least… I should use these ones to let out some frustration.’ He thought as he turned towards the crowd of students whose legs were still glued to the ground and said, “As for the rest of you… you’re coming with me.”
