Manaless Mage

Chapter 172 Free for all fight

Chapter 172 Free for all fight

Then those twenty-five would proceed onto the final stage of the competition, which involved a series of knockout fights and other competitions.

And the five who managed to advance to the final stage, were the ones that would be chosen as the year’s elite students.

However, how they performed in the final round of the event, was that would determine their elite ranks or positions, while the winner of the final round, would unsurprisingly become the new rank one student of the academy.

Most students didn’t really care much about the knockout stages, all they cared about was passing this second phase, and then advancing to the next stage.

Whether they performed poorly or not in the last stage of the event didn’t really matter, since they would become elite students anyway. Even if it was just rank 25, that was more than enough honor to them. However, passing this stage wasn’t easy, it was even regarded as the most difficult stage in the event, despite only being the second stage.

It was a free-for-all fight, and the only way to win was to be the last one standing at the end. Basically, the only way to win this round was to completely defeat and knock out the four other students in the ground, which definitely wasn’t an easy task for most.

There would be no teams, and while a person was focusing on one participant, another could suddenly attack them from behind.

What made it the most terrifying stageโ€ฆ was that you couldn’t expect anything, and it was just each person for himself. Harry played around with the card in his hands for a few more seconds, before placing it in his uniform’s pockets. It was just like the instructor said. Even though he knew his group number was seven, he didn’t know the other students that were in his group.

He didn’t know who his opponents would be, but no matter the kind of Elementalists or combat mages he might end up in the same group with, he was sure he win.

With his current strength at the level it was, no one in the academy could stand against him. He had already surpassed them all. [And now that I’ve explained the rules and regulations of the competition to everyone, let the second stage of the ranking event, begin!]

The commentators’ voice rang out in the hall, causing the hall to erupt in loud cheers and shouts.

Almost immediately, a wide, yellow holographic board appeared at the top of the stage, displaying the first group and the names of students under that group.

Harry’s gaze moved to the board on the top of the stage, and his eyes couldn’t help but widen slightly in surprise when he saw the students in that group.

‘This might be quite interesting.’ He thought.

Group 1

Hes Hurlo Wes Silas

Tino Rezzar

David Ellison

Earl Flac ====

In this group, there wasn’t just one elite student, but two; Wes Silas, and David Ellison.

Wes Silas was a rank 9 Elementalist in the academy, while David Ellison was ranked 23rd among the top-25 students. Despite having a low rank among the elite students, David had still managed to pass the last round together with his team, mainly due to his team’s co-operation, as well as his good luck. This set of names also sparked a commotion in the hall, as the audience erupted into cheers. They watched Wes in the last stage, and that powerful spell that he casted had definitely attracted a few fans for him, who cheered for him in the audience.

Within a few minutes, the students in group one came out unto the stage, each of them with their gaze locked on Wes in wary. Unlike during the team match, there were no domain or flag demarcations on the stage, with the only visible thing being the hard ground. Though no one voiced it out, they all knew in their minds that Wes was the most powerful out of all of them, and also the most dangerous. Among the students, one of them had a thin, long sword with pointed edges held tightly in his right hand. ๐‘–๐˜ฆ๐‘Ž.๐—‡t

That student’s name was Tino Rezzar, a combat mage with short, messy black hair and a fairly large build.

He pointed the sword towards Wes, taking a simple stance, with his brows furrowed in wariness. They all exchanged gazes with one another, including David, the rank 23 elite student, before simultaneously nodding their heads. David was an average height Elementalist with short black hair cut into a buzzcut and piercing black eyes.

No words needed to be said, they all mentally agreed to take Wes out first. He was the most dangerous, and he was the one they needed to take care of first!

As for Wes, the blonde haired Elementalist smirked mischievously when he saw the gazes being directed at him.

He already knew what was going through their minds, even without anyone telling him.

“It is natural for the weak to come together against the strong, but there’s just one fact here…” Wes said, and with the edges of his lips curling into a smirk, he continued: “You all can never win against me.”

His words caused the faces of the rest of the student to squeeze in annoyance, but, they all knew his words weren’t totally wrong also. And following his words, the instructor’s voice suddenly rang through the hall, announcing the start of the fight.

“Yearrr!!!” With that, three of the students charged at Wes at the same time.

Tino, being the faster one, was ahead of the others, and he immediately thrusted his sword towards Wes’s shoulder, going in for a stab.

The other two Elementalists hurriedly channeled their mana, before casting their spells.

“Lightning Ball!”

“Wind Blade!”

The sound of their voices echoed in the hall, as they stretched their hands towards the blonde haired Elementalist in front of them. Within seconds, a small sized ball made purely of lightning and a thin wind blade appeared front of each of their hands, before shooting towards Wes.

The only one that stayed behind was David, the elite student. He had a slight smirk on his face, as he stretched his hand at Wes, preparing to cast his most powerful spell.

A slight smile appeared on Wes’s face when he noticed the attacks coming towards him. Without wasting anytime, he quickly channeled his elemental mana, casting a spell of his own.

“Earth Glide!” He shouted, and almost instantly, two lumps of earth coated his feet, connecting them to the ground.

Balancing himself, Wes swiftly slid to the side, gliding on the ground with the earth lumps aiding his movements.

This caused Tino’s stab to miss him, hitting the air instead. The combat mage gritted his teeth, and immediately tried to twist his sword and swing it to the side instead, hoping to slash Wes.

But unfortunately for him, he was too slow, and Wes had already expected something like this.

Before he could even move his hands, Wes quickly stretched his hand towards his chest, before casting another spell.

“Water Blast!” He shouted, and following his words, water rapidly spun in the middle of his palm, before suddenly exploding in a large blast.

Bam!

The combat mage felt as if his chest had been struck by a heavy hammer, as a huge amount of pain erupted from his chest.

He was barely able to react, when the force behind the blast sent him flying backwards. He quickly tried to balance himself in the air, but as if that wasn’t enough, the lightning ball that was supposed to be heading for Wes, hit him squarely on his back.

The ball immediately exploded into tiny lightning sparks, causing painful shocks to course through his body. He groaned in pain, as his body spasmed slightly due to the shocks, before it finally came crashing down on the ground, landing right in front of the Elementalist who launched the lightning spell. As for the wind blade that was heading towards Wes, the Elementalist easily dodged it by simply ducking slightly, causing it to miss and fly over his head instead. Wes quickly deactivated the earth movement spell, but suddenly stretching his hands towards the two students who launched the spells, with a slight smile still on his face.

The Elementalists were frightened when Wes turned to them, and they instinctively stepped backwards, with beads of sweat dripping down their faces.

However, their fear didn’t stop Wes from casting his spell, and he shouted: “Shattering Rocks!”

Almost immediately, two medium sized rocks materialized in front of him, before instantly shooting towards the Elementalists at astonishing speed.

The rocks closed in on the unfortunate students within seconds, exploding into numerous small rocks right before it hit their faces, with each of the stones hitting them on their faces with even more force.

The students groaned in pain, as the force at which the projectiles hit them caused blood to bleed from their faces. A few even went into their eyes, causing them to swell and redden.

The moment Wes took care of those Elementalist, he suddenly turned towards David, who still stood in the back, with his hands stretched at him, and a large amount of mana rapidly gathering around his palm. ‘I already fell for something like this once, it would be a shame if I fall for it again!’ Wes shouted inwardly, with a deep frown on his face.
