The administrative layout of the grand balcony of Oakhaven settled into a cold, mathematically precise status grid.

Mordecai Von Ravenloft stood at the gilded balustrade, his dark, light-absorbing robes draped over his shoulders with a flawless, geometric density. The sky above the capital was an artificial, deep violet monochrome, sustained by the high-amperage output of his unsuppressed mana pool.

Below, the massive plaza had reached an unprecedented state of structural sanitation thanks to our beloved Larry; the streets were clear of debris, the monuments were polished, and the entire citizenry was reviewing their newly distributed corporate brochures with quiet, compliant fascination.

All of Nick's merchandise, including action figures and body pillows, was burned to ashes. Even the bath water had disappeared. In other words, people's brains started working again.

Then, Kaito turned his torso around to face the final, remaining liabilities of the old system.

Queen Bonblue remained on her knees, her heavy, diamond-encrusted robes heavily wrinkled, her face a mask of absolute, unmitigated administrative defeat. Beside her, Princess Cuckarella was staring at the floor tiles, her small frame trembling as she realized her high-tier purity parameters had been entirely rejected as overvalued luxury decorations.

"Luna," Kaito called out, his deep bass-baritone voice carrying across the balcony with absolute, clinical finality.

Luna stepped out of the shadow of the white marble pillar, her open notebook closing with a sharp snap. Her silver fountain pen was tucked neatly into her lapel, her purple eyes holding a terrifyingly sharp focus. "Report, Mordecai-sama."

"The physical conquest of this sector has reached a successful closure," Kaito announced, handing her a thick, leather-bound data packet. "I am leaving the secondary asset management completely under your jurisdiction. You will collaborate with Brenda and Cassandra Lex to process the intake forms of every single knight, mage, and guild mercenary within a five-kilometer radius. Ensure all liability waivers are signed in triplicate before their shift begins tomorrow morning. Ah, don't forget about Ugo. He will answer every question you have."

"Consider it documented, Mordecai-sama," Luna replied with absolute, data-driven certainty. "The processing latency will be minimized."

Kaito then moved his cold, violet-eyed gaze down to the trembling Queen and her daughter. Then, he pulled out a pre-drafted, low-tier contract from his inner cloak pocket, letting the parchment drop to the stone floor with a dry, hollow clink.

"Regarding your outstanding fifty-million-gold liability," Kaito stated, his voice flat and measured. "Since your treasury is entirely insolvent, Ravenloft Holdings is enforcing an alternative labor-repayment model. You are hereby assigned to the Janitorial Sub-Division: Moat & Sanctuary Maintenance."

Queen Bonblue’s jaw went slack. "Janitorial...?! You want a Queen and a Princess to perform manual labor?!"

"Your current position is non-negotiable," Kaito replied smoothly, his hands crossed behind his back. "You will operate directly under the supervision of Head Maid Carry. Your uniform package consists of two grey canvas jumpsuits with 'UNPAID INTERN' stenciled on the back. If your daily sanitation metrics drop below 85%, Cassandra will initiate an automatic seizure of your remaining personal jewelry. Now... register with Brenda."

Princess Cuckarella flinched, her face turning a deep crimson as she reluctantly reached down to grab the contract, her fingers shaking as she realized her narrative protection had been completely revoked.

Then, Kaito turned away from them, his dark cloak billowing with an artificial weight as he looked at the horizontal line of his primary alliance party—Kaz, Kashime, Jin, Valeria, Nya, Seraphina, and the rest of the high-tier assets who were currently waiting near the logistical corridor.

"Operations in Oakhaven are stabilized," Kaito announced, his bass voice echoing flatly off the palace's drywall. "Pack the remaining documentation. We are returning to Fort Blackstone for the general assembly briefing."

Nya just nodded while she kept licking her wrists before starting to chew on Larry's spoon.

"O-Okay... I'm not doing it because I like you or—" Valeria tried to say, crossing her arms, just to be stopped by Seraphina.

"Shut up and listen to our husband, Valeria. Te-Hee!" Seraphina licked her lower lip as she looked at Mordecai.

"H-H-H-H-HUSBAND?!?!" Valeria went into hyperventilation, while Kaz, Kashime, and Jin just nodded in unison.

Of course, Mordecai completely ignored the tsundere panic.

And then, a portal materialized in front of them, and everyone immediately stepped inside.

Thirty minutes later, the main hall of Fort Blackstone was completely illuminated by a dense, stable grid of violet fire tubes.

The entire corporate layout had been restructured for the return (Thanks, Wukong).

The long, rotting wooden table had been fully scrubbed, and every single adventurer, reincarnator, and monster manager was seated across the leather-lined benches in perfect, orderly departments.

Egel and Regel occupied the front vanguard row, their postures entirely compliant; Pyroas sat to his immediate right, her obsidian uniform buttoned to the collar, her golden-amber eyes scanning the perimeter with intense, hyper-vigilant focus.

The Great Sage Equal to Heaven was sitting in a corner, polishing spoons to prove that she was stronger than Larry, because her Buddha had promised two extra hours of headpats.

Meanwhile, Kaito stood before the massive high-backed stone throne, his hands crossed behind his back, his twin violet eyes glowing like two deep, awakened server cores.

The room went entirely silent, the acoustic output of his presence maximizing the room's compliance metrics.

"Listen to me carefully, everyone," Kaito began, his deep resonance filling the vaulted ceiling with the weight of an end-of-year corporate dividend report. "Today's systemic takeover of the capital was achieved with a ninety-nine point eight percent mechanical efficiency. We have successfully foreclosed on the Holy Kingdom's primary infrastructure without losing a single frame of our vanguard's durability parameters."

He took a step forward, his gaze softening into a rare, calculated expression of professional transparency.

"I want to express my definitive data-driven gratitude to every single department head and asset in this room," Kaito stated, his baritone voice steady and clear. "The success of Ravenloft Holdings is not built on a generic shonen prophecy or a flawed divine decree. The Ravenloft Holdings... is you. Your collective labor, your compliance with safety guidelines, and your commitment to the grind are the primary drivers of our revenue stream."

Then, Kaito slowly turned his torso around, his sharp violet eyes looking directly "into the camera viewport" of the higher realms' live-stream interface. His jawline hardened into an expression of elegant, unmitigated corporate disdain.

"And I want to extend a very specific, data-verified thank you to the Higher Realms platform subscribers," Kaito hissed, his voice dropping into a dangerous, raspy register that immediately triggered his [Malicious Edgelord Rizz] passive. "Particularly to those unoriginal critics who leave a one-star rating on my character portfolio without even reading two consecutive chapters of my documentation. And to all the voyeurs who have compulsively watched my personal structural misfortunes up to this point. Your rage-clicks have been successfully converted into high-volume engagement capital." He said. (This one was personal.)

*Cough cough* Kaito then adjusted his voice and took a deep breath to calm his inner rage. "So, I just wanted to say none of this would be possible without you all. So... Thank you, guys," Kaito said, before bowing.

The moment the Dark Lord bowed, the entire row of leather benches erupted into an absolute, uncoordinated collapse of raw human emotion. Kaz was openly wiping a tear from his cheek with the sleeve of his new corporate tracksuit; Jin’s shadow puppy let out a soft, weeping squeak from his pocket, and even the generic NPC knights in the back were sniffing loudly into their paper water cups. The administrative transparency was too profound for their system parameters to bear.

Pyroas looked up at him, her fingers wrapping frantically around his dark, obsidian elbow sleeve, her golden eyes swimming with an intense, unscripted devotion. Her entire body was trembling against his arm.

"Mordecai..." Pyroas whispered, her breath hot against his dark fabric. "Your leadership metrics... they are too magnificent... The compliance is infinite..."

Kaito didn't move his arm. He adjusted his leather glove, his violet eyes locking onto the secondary archway of the main hall. Maybe, Pyroas's touch didn't bother him...

"Now," Kaito announced, his bass voice cutting through the sniffling crowd. "I require the staff to extend a formal, professional welcome to a new regional director—an entity who has successfully liquidated her contract with the Holy Church to join our administration. The no longer Saintess... Lucy."

And then, in that moment, the double doors of the inner corridor clicked open.

Lucy stepped into the violet light of the hall, and the entire room went completely dead silent.

Her visual model had undergone a total, comprehensive system update. The pristine, mud-splattered white robes of the Saintess had been entirely deleted from her inventory.

In their place, she wore a high-tier, form-fitting dress of deep, light-absorbing obsidian silk, trimmed with silver legal threads that shimmered with dark, regulatory mana.

Her hair—once a perfect, superficial golden blonde—was now a stunning, intricate mix of platinum-blond and dark, charcoal grey strands that flowed neatly around her pale shoulders.

Most glaringly, her eyes had experienced a structural mutation: within each iris, the colors oscillated erratically between an electric, clear blue and a deep, awakened violet—a flawless, high-fidelity display of dual-system heterochromia within the same pupil.

Lucy walked with a slow, measured, and graceful cadence across the stone floor, completely ignoring the stunned gapes of the adventurers, and stopping exactly one meter before Kaito's throne.

With a smooth, unhurried movement, she lowered her torso, her knees connecting with the stone floor as she knelt before him, her dark silk skirts draping elegantly around her frame.

Then, she clasped her hands together, her gaze lifted to his face with an absolute, unyielding sincerity.

"By the soul-bond contract currently encoded within my character database..." Lucy announced, her voice clear, smooth, and entirely free of her previous artificial holy cadence. "By the truth we discovered beneath the wheels of that truck, and by the logic of your dark administration... I officially swear eternal, unpatchable fidelity to you, Mordecai Von Ravenloft.—No, Kaito Yamashiro. My skills, my mana pool, my soul, my body, and my strategic foresight are now the permanent property of Ravenloft Holdings™."

Before Lucy could rise from her kneeling position, the heavy double doors of the main hall slammed open with a thunderous, metallic BOOM.

Two figures stood in the doorway, their silhouettes cast in violent violet light.

Jeanette was in front. Her succubus wings were fully extended, her golden eyes burning with a cold, ancient fury that made the hall's ambient temperature drop by several degrees.

Her fingers were wrapped tightly around a glowing green alchemical vial, the liquid inside hissing with volatile, corrosive energy. She stepped into the hall with a heavy, deliberate stride, her leather boots clicking against the stone floor with the finality of a death sentence.

Behind her walked Vesta, her welding goggles pushed up onto her forehead, her expression one of clinical, detached curiosity. She carried a heavy notebook, her fingers already twitching toward a pen.

The celebration ground to a complete halt. The music stuttered. The NPCs froze mid-cheer. Even Larry paused his Swiffer, tilting his skull toward the new arrivals before giving a thumbs-up to them.

Jeanette walked directly up to Lucy, stopping exactly three feet away. She didn't bow. She didn't curtsy. She stared down at the kneeling woman with pure, unadulterated contempt.

"You," Jeanette hissed, her voice dripping with venom. "You dare to show up here? After everything you did to him?"

Lucy looked up, her heterochromatic eyes meeting Jeanette's crimson gaze. She didn't flinch. She didn't look away.

"Jean..." Kaito began, his voice low and warning.

"Jean?!!? Wasn't Jean a man?!" Lucy exclaimed.

"No, Kaito!" Jeanette snapped, completely ignoring Lucy's words, with her wings flaring. "She doesn't get to just waltz in here as if nothing happened! She broke you! She shattered you! She—"

"I know," Lucy interrupted, her voice soft but steady. She rose slowly to her feet, her dark silk dress flowing around her like liquid shadow. "I know what I did, Jean. I live with that knowledge every single day." She said, shoving aside all her intrusive questions.

She took a step forward, her hand reaching out, palm open, in a gesture of peace.

"But I also know that I spent the last year trying to earn back even a fraction of his trust," Lucy continued, her voice trembling but firm. "I betrayed the Church. I burned my own life force to hide him. I have been a spy in the enemy's camp, feeding him information, risking my own existence, all because I realized that the only thing that ever mattered was him. Was Kaito. And... we already talked about that 'misunderstanding'."

Jeanette's jaw tightened. Her grip on the vial tightened until her knuckles turned white.

"And what makes you think I should trust you?" Jeanette snarled. "What makes you think I should believe anything you say? If you betrayed him once, it will SURELY happen again!"

"Because he... gave me a chance," Lucy said, nodding toward Kaito. "And if he can find it in his heart to forgive me... then maybe... You can, too."

Jeanette stared at her for a long, agonizing moment before moving her gaze to Mordecai for a few moments, looking at the sincere look on his face.

She knew that Kaito had made his decision, and it was absolute.

Then, slowly, her wings folded back against her shoulders. The alchemical vial in her hand lowered.

"If you ever hurt him again," Jeanette whispered, her voice cold as frost, "I won't need a vial. I'll tear you apart with my bare hands. Do you understand? And both of you OWE me explanations."

Lucy nodded, a small, relieved smile touching her lips.

"I understand, Jeanette. And I swear to you... I never will."

Jeanette held her gaze for another long moment. Then, she stepped back, turning her head toward the shadows where Brenda was standing.

"Fine. But I'm keeping this vial in my pocket. Just in case."

She stalked off toward a far corner of the hall, wings still twitching, but no longer hostile.

Then, Vesta stepped forward, her eyes gleaming.

"Fascinating," she murmured, circling Lucy like a predator examining its new prey. "A Saintess converted to the dark side. Your magical signature is completely altered, and the divine resonance is gone, replaced by something... neutral. Something adaptable. I would very much like to examine you."

Lucy blinked, startled. "Examine me? What?"

"A few simple tests," Vesta said, her voice dripping with scientific hunger. "I promise nothing invasive. Just a small blood sample, a quick magical resonance scan, perhaps a few alchemical reactions—nothing you'll even notice, really."

"Vesta," Kaito sighed, pinching the bridge of his nose. "Not now."

"But the data!" Vesta protested. "The data is unprecedented!"

"Later," Kaito said firmly. "We have a banquet to finish."

Vesta pouted but stepped back, her fingers twitching toward her notebook.

"Later," she repeated. "I'll hold you to that, Lucy."

Then, Lucy offered a weak, nervous smile.

"I... I look forward to it...?" She said.

But someone in particular wasn't feeling any better.

In that moment, Pyroas's fingers instantly tightened around Kaito's right arm until her knuckles turned white under the physical tension.

Her golden eyes narrowed into two sharp, dangerous slits as she looked down at the kneeling woman.

Her mosquito-jealousy parameters were red-lining, her teeth grinding together so hard that a faint crimson spark escaped her lips, scorching a tiny black mark into her high-collared secretary uniform.

She was forced to accept the position by the system’s mandatory compliance code, but her internal database was experiencing a massive stress test.

"Listen to me, Ex-Saintess," Pyroas hissed through her teeth, her voice dropping into a guttural, yandere register that made the air around her boots warp with high-temperature heat. "If you dare to execute a single frame of contractual non-compliance against Mordecai-sama... or if you ever allow your limited cognitive processing to think, for even a single microsecond, that his practical logic is 'boring'... I will not wait for a legal review from Cassandra. I will consume one hundred percent of my remaining life force to incinerate your soul until there is nothing left but ash."

Pyroas's voice shook as she delivered the threat. But it wasn't the shallow, comedic shaking of a typical light-novel tsundere.

Her entire frame was trembling because she had reviewed Kaito’s historical trauma files, especially after hearing Kaito's words during his fight with Nick. For some reason, she gained access to Kaito's memories of that 'specific' day, due to her contract with him.

So, she knew exactly how deeply this specific woman had broken his heart under the Tokyo rain, and her core programming was driven by a terrifying, protective terror that her Master might be forced to suffer through that market deficit a second time. In other words, she didn't want her beloved Mordecai to suffer again.

Kaito remained perfectly motionless beneath his cloak.

He didn't speak, and he didn't execute a disciplinary order against his secretary. He looked down at Pyroas’s trembling fingers, with his violet eyes holding an expression of profound, unspoken respect for her loyalty. He understood her parameters.

Lucy slowly raised her torso, her dual-colored eyes locking onto Pyroas's fiery gaze with absolute, calm stability.

"I have absolutely no intention of executing a breach of contract, Pyroas," Lucy said, her voice smooth and entirely steady. She held up her right hand, showing the subtle, glowing violet lines of the system covenant running beneath her skin. "Our souls are now permanently linked via an unbreakable administrative pact, as you can verify within the ledger logs. The flawed, unstable emotions of our past life no longer govern my attachment to him. I will demonstrate my fidelity through concrete, daily production metrics. You do not need to worry about his security."

Kaito let out a low, quiet breath. He slowly raised his right hand, his legendary leather glove gently touching Pyroas’s flushed cheek, his fingers tracing a soft, calming caress across her skin to lower her jealousy threshold.

"Don't worry, Pyroas," Kaito said, his voice dropping into his normal, calm electrician's register for a brief moment. "Your administrative vigilance is noted and appreciated. But the onboarding is final."

Pyroas’s face instantly exploded into a shade of crimson that clashed with her dark uniform, her steam vents closing as her heart rate surged into a chaotic flutter. "Y-Yes... Mordecai... if you... if you insist..."

Kaito then lowered his hand and looked back down at Lucy. "Now, give each other your hands. I will not tolerate any interpersonal friction or unauthorized friction between senior regional directors during business hours. Synergy is mandatory."

After his words, Lucy stood up gracefully, extending her pale, dark-silk-sleeved hand forward without hesitation. Pyroas, reluctantly releasing Kaito's arm with a soft, defensive pout that was still thirty percent non-compliant, extended hers as well.

Their fingers met in a brief, remarkably tense, and strictly professional handshake, and the audio comms channels let out a small static pop from the sheer clashing of their respective element parameters, but the contract was maintained.

And then, a loud silence filled the entire place until someone dared to break it.

Suddenly, from the second row of the adventurer benches, Kaz slammed his hands against the table, leaping to his feet with an expression of absolute, unadulterated joy.

"GLORY TO RAVENLOFT HOLDINGS™!" Kaz screamed at the top of his lungs, his corporate tracksuit rustling as he waved his paper cup in the air.

The entire hall erupted into a massive, world-shaking roar of pure, unified celebration.

"H-HORRAYYYY!" the crowd shouted in unison, the generic NPC knights, the high-tier mercenaries, and the low-level goblins all slamming their weapons against the benches.

The subwoofer in the corner of the room threatened to crack the foundational masonry under the sheer physical force of its vocal output.

Then, Kaito slowly leaned back into his massive high-backed stone throne, letting his dark robes drape over the armrests, and Pyroas immediately re-aligned herself at his right flank, her posture rigid and protective. At the same time, Lucy moved smoothly to his left, her dark lace skirts rustling as she took her place as Co-Director.

Before the celebration could transition into the next phase, Egel stepped forward from the vanguard line, her massive, scar-tissue-lined frame moving with measured, formal steps. She stopped in front of the dais, pulling a small, crumpled piece of parchment from her breastplate straps.

"Kaitoyama," Egel rumbled, her sharp blue eyes holding a rare, embarrassed flush as she cleared her throat. "Please forgive the narrative interruption, but Director Brenda forced me to execute a mandatory end-of-shift address before the banquet parameters open. I am required to read the text exactly as written."

Kaito nodded once. "Proceed, Egel. Read the report."

Egel held the paper two inches from her nose, her massive knuckles shaking slightly as she recited the corporate script with the flat, mechanical monotone of a warrior forced to do data entry:

"Ahem. *cough cough* Thank you all for your hard work," Egel read, her deep voice carrying across the silent hall. "Today's battle has concluded successfully. All municipal and operational expenses have been successfully deducted from the royal capital's tax codes as a foreclosure penalty. Thank you, Ravenloft Holdings."

The moment the final syllable passed her lips, the room fell into a deep, ringing administrative silence.

Then, out of the deep shadows of the main entrance portal, the squeaking sound of rubber wheels rolling over loose stone gravel broke the quiet.

Larry had arrived.

The true Main Character of the narrative pushed his industrial-grade custodial cart directly into the center of the hall. He wore his pristine blue coveralls and his legendary [Ordinary SSSSSS Gold Rubber Gloves], his Swiffer mop held perfectly upright like a royal halberd.

He stopped right in front of Kaito's throne, looked at the collective horizontal line of departments, and slowly raised his white bone thumb into the air.

👍

In that moment, the entire crowd let out another massive cheer, the system parameters for employee morale reaching an unprecedented maximum of 100%.

Kaito allowed himself a faint, clinical smile, his twin violet eyes glowing in the dim light. He slowly brought his hands together, executing a twice-repeated clap.

"Initiate the corporate holiday banquet," Kaito commanded. "The shift is officially over."

VWOOM.

Instantly, high-fidelity orchestral fantasy tavern music began playing from the room's Dolby Surround channels.

Then, the heavy double doors opened once more, and Brenda, Ugo (wearing his spectrally projected necktie over his tattered grey robes), Luna, and Cassandra Lex entered the hall, bowing deeply to Kaito before joining the festivities.

Within minutes, the room transformed into a magnificent asylum of corporate revelry. High-level Revenants and Ogres were systematically distributing plates of roasted dungeon fowl; Kaz was aggressively lecturing an NPC cleric near the food bar about the benefits of normal municipal sewage infrastructure, and Cassandra Lex was floating frantically through the crowd, serving nearly every single adventurer she met with a standard-issue workplace liability lawsuit for "unauthorized noise pollution after five PM."

And then, everyone kept having fun.

The celebration continued, the music swelled, and laughter and cheers filled the hall. NPC knights were dancing with revenants, goblins were attempting to start a conga line, and Kaz was aggressively explaining the benefits of modern plumbing to a group of confused clerics.

But in a quiet corner of the hall, away from the chaos, a lone figure stood motionless.

Dragon Slayer.

His muscular frame was pressed against the stone wall, his arms crossed tightly over his chest. His helmet was tucked under his arm, revealing his sharp, battle-scarred features. His crimson eyes stared blankly at the crowd, his brow furrowed in deep, profound thought.

He scratched his head with his gauntleted hand, a hollow, metallic scraping sound echoing softly beneath the music.

"Wife..." he muttered under his breath, his voice low and gravelly. "Wife... my family wanted me to have a wife... I must find a wife..."

He scratched his head again, harder this time.

"But how... where... what is a wife?"

Then, a passing NPC cleric, carrying a tray of drinks, paused to look at him.

"Excuse me, sir? Are you alright?" She asked, with a kind voice.

Dragon Slayer turned his crimson gaze toward the cleric, who took a step back.

"Wife," Dragon Slayer repeated, his voice flat and unblinking. "My mother. My father. They wanted me to find a wife."

The cleric blinked.

"...I see. And... do you have a candidate?" She said, looking away for an instant, blushing.

Dragon Slayer stared at her for a long, silent moment, and then he scratched his head again.

"No," he admitted, his voice tinged with genuine confusion. "I killed the dragon. I avenged them. But now... I don't know what to do with my hands." He said, removing his gloves and putting them into the inventory.

The cleric looked down at his hands. They were massive, scarred, and currently clenched into fists.

"Perhaps... y-you could use them to hold a drink?" she suggested tentatively.

Dragon Slayer looked at his hands. Then back at the cleric. Then back to his hands.

"A drink," he repeated, as if tasting the word.

"Yes," the cleric said, offering him a cup. "It might help."

Dragon Slayer took the cup and stared at it for a long moment before he finally decided to take a sip.

And then, his eyes widened.

"This... this is good," he said, his voice carrying a rare, genuine note of surprise.

The cleric smiled.

"It's just ale, sir." She said, her voice soft.

Dragon Slayer looked at the cup, then back at the cleric.

"Ale," he repeated. "I like ale."

Then, he scratched his head again.

"But... I still don't have a wife. I need a wife..."

After his words, the cleric softly sighed, patting his arm.

"One step at a time, sir. One step at a time."

And with that, she walked away, not before winking at him, leaving Dragon Slayer alone in his corner, scratching his head and staring at the cup in his hands.

"Wife..." he muttered. "Ale... wife... ale..."

A few meters away, Kaz noticed the scene and nudged Kashime.

"Look," Kaz whispered, pointing toward the corner. "Dragon Slayer is having a crisis."

Kashime glanced over.

"Is he... looking for a wife?" The edgelord asked, taking a sip of fantasy beer.

"Looks like it," Kaz said, taking another sip of ale.

Then, Kashime shrugged. "Let him figure it out. I'm not getting involved in that."

Kaz nodded, looking at the poor Dragon Slayer for an instant.

"Fair point." He said. "Yo, wanna hear a cool story about my first time with a girl?" Kaz said.

Kashime's eyes immediately widened.

"Yes. Tell me." He said.

"So... it happened many months ago... in a horse stable..." he began to speak.

And then, they both turned back to their drinks, leaving Dragon Slayer to his quiet, solitary quest.

"Wife... wife... where is a wife..." He kept muttering to himself while occasionally looking at that cleric NPC.

"I... I like her..." He said.

Kaito remained seated on his stone throne, his face partially cast in shadow as he watched his staff dance, drink blue carbonated fluids, and argue over tax brackets.

Lucy leaned slightly closer to his left shoulder pad, her dual-colored eyes catching the reflection of the violet fires, a soft, genuine smile softening her aristocratic features. "Are you happy, Kaito?" she asked, her voice carried beneath the sound of the music via their private channel.

Kaito reviewed his internal status grid, checking his current mana regeneration latency and the structural durability values of his fort.

"I am currently operating at exactly sixty percent optimization, Lucy," Kaito replied flatly, his voice deep and raspy. "There is still a significant amount of unaligned data in the northern sectors, and the trade routes require a total structural overhaul before the next quarter."

Lucy let out a soft, beautiful chuckle that sounded entirely like her old self from Tokyo, her hand involuntarily reaching down to press against the soft velvet of her bodice over her belly. "Sixty percent... how typical of you. You're always so focused on the budget parameters that you forgot how to have fun. Kaito, please make sure Brenda stocks the breakroom cabinets soon. For some completely illogical system reason... I have a massive, high-magnitude craving for some salty peanuts right now."

Kaito’s left eye twitched visibly beneath his collar. "Peanuts again? This is the second time you have logged that specific logistical anomaly in the past hour. Is your character model suffering from a nutritional deficit?"

Before Lucy could form a witty executive response, Pyroas leaned heavily against his right arm, her red bangs falling over her eyes as she clung to his dark silk sleeve with an intense, unyielding possessiveness. Her golden eyes looked up into his face, completely ignoring the Saintess's proximity.

"You look significantly more handsome when your jawline is relaxed like this, Mordecai-sama," Pyroas murmured, her voice dripping with an administrative kuudere allure. "Your presence is the primary driver of our department's morale."

"I am not relaxing, Pyroas," Kaito deadpanned, his expression remaining perfectly stoic. "I am simply resting my mass parameters against the stone supports to optimize my kinetic recovery. I do not smile on the clock."

"Oh, come on, Kaito. Don't be so rigid," Lucy laughed softly, her dark lace skirts rustling as she wrapped both of her hands tightly around his other, obsidian elbow sleeve, squeezing herself against his left side with an equal level of affection. "Just execute a single frame of joy for once, my favorite low-life electrician. The final boss fight is over."

Kaito sat perfectly frozen between the two primary pillars of his administration. To his right, a Hyper-Competent Flame Witch Secretary was hugging his bicep like a baseline yandere; to his left, a Reborn Saintess Co-Director was clinging to his elbow while requesting luxury snacks.

The physical mass of their protrusions, compressing against his dark robes, was an immense, mathematically dense variable that his technician's brain was entirely unequipped to process without triggering a cliché aneurysm.

He opened his mouth to order a mandatory five-minute personal space inspection—

Then, Larry stepped directly into the space before his throne, his swiffer resting against his ribs. He stood perfectly motionless, his empty socket-eyes staring silently into Lucy’s face for three consecutive seconds, until he took a spoon from the void and offered it to the Ex-Saintess.

Lucy blinked, her dual-colored eyes widening with an expression of intense, soft adoration. "Oh... look at him... he's so cute..." She reached down, her small fingers gently taking the spare, highly polished stainless-steel serving spoon that Larry was smoothly presenting to her. "Thank you, Mr. Larry. I will keep it in my primary inventory slot."

Larry gave a thumbs up to her and then slowly lowered his socket-eyes down toward Lucy’s lapel, his gaze drifting lower until it was fixed entirely on her velvet-covered belly.

The skeleton remained perfectly still for five seconds before raising its bone hand to its ivory skull.

Scrik. Scrik.

He executed a slow, thoughtful, and highly philosophical head-scratching gesture that Kaito recognized as his high-level diagnostic processing state.

After two more seconds of contemplation, Larry stopped scratching, turned his skull directly toward Kaito, and executed a sharp, solid thumbs-up mechanic with his gold rubber glove.

👍

In that moment, Kaito didn't exactly understand what was happening.

He just said, "Good boy!"

And then, the legendary skeleton janitor dashed towards his 'papa', hugged him for a few moments, and then stepped back. Then, he turned his skull fully toward the higher realms' camera viewport and executed a magnificent, double-handed thumbs-up mechanic that illuminated the entire room with the light of pure corporate validation.

👍 👍

In that moment, the live stream chat went into an absolute, un-mitigated state of nuclear meltdown, thousands of red hearts and golden emojis flooding the holographic display in an uncontrollable data waterfall.

Kaito looked down at the silver spoon in Lucy's hand, then at the two beautiful, hyper-competent women currently clinging to his arms with infinite loyalty, and finally at his cheering, unified workforce dancing under fantasy music.

The cold, heavy chains of his Earthly betrayal and his Tokyo cynicism finally shattered against the bedrock of his new reality.

The corners of his sharp, AI-optimized mouth slowly tilted upward, executing a genuine, quiet, and perfectly calibrated smile rendered in high-definition fidelity for the entire universe to witness.

"Alright," Kaito whispered, his deep bass voice soft but solid as he held them close. "Now... I am finally happy. For real. All thanks to Larry."

The massive purple screen in the sky flashed its definitive, glorious milestone notification as the book reached its beautiful, optimized, and permanent closure:

[CONGRATULATIONS! THE LOGISTICAL EMPIRE OF RAVENLOFT IS COMPLETE!]

[PRIMARY REVENGE OBJECTIVE: 100% CLEANED]

[HOUSEHOLD PORTFOLIO: SECURITY OPTIMAL / PRODUCTION INFINITE]

[FINAL ADMINISTRATIVE LEVEL: UNPARALLELED MONARCH]

[LARRY DIVISION OVERRIDE: THE SHIFT IS SUCCESSFULLY OVER. 👍]

Then, the hall erupted into another wave of cheers, the NPCs raising their cups, the adventurers slapping each other on the back, the monsters clanking their weapons together in a chaotic but joyful rhythm.

Kaito allowed himself another faint, clinical smile, his twin violet eyes glowing in the dim light. He leaned back into his throne, Lucy still pressed against his left side, Pyroas still clinging to his right arm.

Everything was perfect.

Everything was finally, truly, completely perfect.

And then...

*"AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!" *

The sound tore through the stone walls of Fort Blackstone like a thunderclap.

That was... a scream of... panic?

The hall went dead silent, and every single head turned toward the direction of the sound.

In that moment, Kaito realized that the sound was coming from the east wing: Vera's nest.

Kaito's eyes widened. "What the...?"

Pyroas stiffened against him. "Kaito... was that...?"

"Vera," he said, his voice flat and incredulous. "That was Vera."

Another scream echoed through the stone.

*"AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!" *

This time, it was louder, even more powerful than before. The very foundations of the fortress seemed to tremble under the sheer, unfiltered force of a dragon's happiness.

And then, a single, echoing phrase followed it, carried on the sound waves of pure ecstasy:

*"MY EGG! IT'S HATCHING! MY BABY IS COMING! AHHHHHHHHHHHHHH! I'M ABOUT TO GIVE BIRTH!"

Silence.

Absolute, complete, total silence.

Every single person in the hall stared at the ceiling, as if they could see through the stone, through the floors, through the vault doors, directly into the nest where Vera was currently losing her mind with joy.

Kaito's hand slowly moved to his face, his gloved fingers covering his eyes.

"Of course," he muttered, his voice muffled. "Of course it's hatching now. Why wouldn't it hatch now? That was so obvious."

Jeanette let out a long, slow, disbelieving whistle.

"Bro... your dragon wife's egg is hatching."

"She's not my wife," Kaito said flatly.

"She thinks she is," Jeanette shot back, grinning.

"The egg isn't mine."

"She thinks it is."

Lucy, still pressed against his side, let out a soft, amused laugh.

"Kaito... do you have a dragon wife I don't know about?" Lucy asked.

Kaito turned his head slowly to look at her, his expression utterly deadpan.

"You're asking me this now, Lucy?" Kaito sighed.

Lucy's laughter grew, bright and genuine, her hand moving to her own belly.

"I just think it's funny," she said. "A dragon's egg is hatching. Your life is never boring, is it?"

Kaito sighed, long and deep, the sound of a man who had long since accepted the absolute absurdity of his existence.

"No," he admitted. "No, it really isn't."

And then, from the east wing, another, even more powerful scream echoed through the fortress:

*"AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH! IT'S HERE! MY BABY IS HERE!" *

Kaito stared at the ceiling.

"I need to go check on that, don't I?"

Lucy patted his arm. "Yes, Kaito. You really do." She said.

He stood up slowly, his dark robes settling around him. He looked down at Lucy, then at Pyroas, then at the hall full of his employees, his family, his people.

"Well," he said, a wry smile touching his lips. "Duty calls. Apparently, I have a dragon hatchling to welcome into the world."

The hall exploded into laughter.

"Everyone, wait here for my return. Vera may be in an ultra-protective maternal mode, and she may be very dangerously possessive towards her pup. I'll take care of it. Everyone, wait here." He ordered.

And everyone nodded, while Lucy and Pyroas took some steps back. Larry kept cleaning.

Then, Kaito turned and started to walk towards the new Mama-Wyvern.

Kaito walked through the stone corridors of Fort Blackstone, his footsteps echoing in the structural silence, and behind him, the distant sounds of the interrupted celebration faded into a muffled, low-frequency hum.

He kept walking until the heavy oak doors of Vault 4 loomed before him.

Our beloved fake necromancer took a deep breath and then pushed them open, stepping across the threshold with the detached posture of a supervisor entering an unmapped loading zone.

The room was bathed in a warm, deeply comforting golden light, and the massive nest occupied the absolute center of the floor parameters. And right in the middle of that financial bedding, curled protectively around a small, glowing bundle, was Vera.

She was currently wearing an oversized, remarkably comfortable set of pink flannel pajamas with [RAVENLOFT HOLDINGS™] stenciled neatly across the back in white collegiate lettering. After a few instants, she looked up at him, her large emerald eyes shimmering with thick, uncinematic tears of pure, undiluted joy.

"Mordecai... my husband, my soulmate..." she whispered, her draconic voice trembling with immense emotional morale. "He's here. Our son is here... It's a beautiful baby boy..."

Then, Kaito stepped forward, his dark, light-absorbing robes brushing against the scattered gold pieces and the shredded paper lines, and looked down at the glowing bundle nestled against the pink flannel.

For some reason, his breath caught directly in his throat. His internal cognitive interface encountered a brief, silent processing lag.

The baby was tiny, impossibly small, wrapped securely in a soft, protective cloth woven from shimmering emerald scales. His eyes were closed, his tiny, fragile fists curled tightly against his chest. But even in sleep, even within the limitations of a newborn character model, Kaito could see the data overlay with absolute clarity.

The same wild, dark hair.

The same clean, structural shape of his own face.

The same stubborn, unyielding jawline.

And, in precise alignment with his own physical dimensions, he had the same small mole right beneath his left ear that he had in his previous life.

And when the baby stirred, when his tiny eyelids fluttered open against the golden light, two deep, awakened violet irises stared directly back at him. It was the same shade as his own—two miniature lasers of absolute corporate judgment.

"He... he looks exactly like me," Kaito whispered, his voice dropping into a low register, barely audible over the low hum of the vault's ventilation.

Vera nodded, her voice thick with pure maternal pride as she adjusted her pink sleeves. "Yes... He is your son, my soulmate... our precious son... our baby..."

Kaito reached down, his legendary black leather glove trembling slightly as he overrode his professional boundaries. He gently touched the baby's soft cheek with a single finger.

The newborn let out a quiet, high-frequency coo, his tiny hand wrapping around Kaito's finger with a surprising level of physical grip strength.

Deep within the dark, heavily fortified vault of Kaito’s mind, something cold and hard cracked wide open.

The rigid, cynical barrier that had been constructed since the day Lucy had betrayed him back in Tokyo—the absolute emotional isolation that had sustained his identity since he had dragged them under the wheels of that truck—instantly shattered into useless, unpatchable sparks.

"He's... beautiful," Kaito whispered, his cold corporate mask completely melting away. "He's... perfect."

And in that moment, Vera stood up and wrapped her tail around his thigh, gently standing close to the baby.

Ten minutes later, the heavy double doors of the main assembly hall swung open once more with a slow, resonant groan.

Kaito stepped through the portal, his dark robes billowing behind him as he re-entered the illuminated chamber. But this time, his posture had completely changed. He wasn't holding his clipboard, and his hands weren't crossed behind his back.

Secured safely within his arms, wrapped in that soft, emerald-scaled cloth, was the tiny, sleeping bundle.

In that moment, the festive music stuttered and died away, leaving the entire hall in an absolute, suffocating silence.

Every single eye—from the high-tier mercenaries to the generic NPC knights nursing their water cups—turned simultaneously to look at the center of the room.

Lucy rose slowly from her chair at the left flank of the throne, her hand moving to her mouth as her heterochromatic blue-and-violet eyes widened.

Pyroas stood frozen at the right flank, her jaw tensing as her mosquito-jealousy parameters were instantly forgotten, replaced by a sudden disruption in her cognitive processing.

Jeanette’s mouth dropped entirely open, her succubus wings flaring once out of pure astonishment.

Kaito walked to the exact center of the hall with Vera, his steps slow, deliberate, and entirely stable. The Mama-Wyvern's tail was still wrapped around Mordecai's thigh.

Then, he looked down at his sleeping son and raised his gaze to face his gathered family, his employees, and the entire dark faction.

"Everyone," Kaito said, his bass voice steady but thick with a profound, un-suppressed emotion. "I would like you to meet... Yssrath. A very special guest."

And then, the hall absolutely exploded.

Lucy was the first to break formation. She rushed forward across the stone floor, her dark lace skirts rustling as tears cut fresh lines through her makeup. She then reached out with trembling fingers, gently touching the newborn's cheek with absolute warmth.

"He's beautiful, Kaito," she whispered, her voice breaking completely as she looked into the baby's face. "He looks... he looks just like you. And... he has the same mole as you?!" She then pouted. "Kaito? What have you done?!" She asked, her voice filled with a glimpse of jealousy.

Then, Jeanette stepped forward right behind her, her arms crossed defensively, but her golden eyes were remarkably soft as she looked over Kaito's shoulder pad. "Well," she muttered, her tone gruff but carrying a deep, genuine warmth. "He’s definitely inherited your stubborn, unyielding jawline. Poor kid is going to spend his whole life auditing the kitchen budget. Congratulations, bro."

Pyroas remained standing near the dais, her golden eyes locked onto the tiny emerald bundle. The white-hot flames around her boots completely vanished, replaced by a soft, quiet warmth that spread through her uniform.

"He... he is an official part of the Ravenloft Holdings infrastructure," Pyroas said, her voice barely above a whisper as her heart rate settled into a peaceful rhythm. "He is... family. I will immediately draft his security priority protocols."

Nya, Valeria, and Seraphina rushed forward from the adventurer benches, their eyes wide with absolute wonder as they crowded around the bundle.

"Nya! He's so impossibly tiny, Nya!" the cat-girl purred loudly, her ears twitching in delight as she stared at the dark hair. "His stamina bar must be so small, Nya!"

"He's so cute! Can I hold him? Just for a single frame? Te-hee!" Seraphina giggled, smoothing down her maid apron as she bit her lower lip.

Valeria immediately crossed her arms tightly over her plate armor, her face turning a vivid shade of tomato-red as her tsundere coding made a desperate, final stand. "I-It's not like I actually want to hold him or anything, baka! And it's not like I want t-t-to have a baby too! Don't look at me like that! But... if the department requires a secondary defensive vanguard to support his weight parameters... can I?"

For some reason, Vera wasn't overreacting, but Kaito could hear a low growl coming from her. She clearly didn't want so much attention.

Then, our beloved fake necromancer looked down at his 'son', then up at the chaotic, beautiful, and completely dysfunctional family he had systematically built from the ruins of a fantasy world.

He looked at Lucy, who was crying tears of genuine joy at his left.

He looked at Pyroas, who had finally found an absolute, unyielding peace at his right.

He looked at Jeanette, who was smiling with the sincere pride of an old friend.

He looked toward the main entryway, where Vera was standing against the frame, still wearing her pink Ravenloft pajamas, her emerald eyes shining with a deep, maternal glow.

And finally, his gaze drifted to the far corner of the room.

Larry the skeleton stood amidst the cleanup carts, his Swiffer broom held loosely in his gold-gloved bone fingers. He stared at the baby, his empty sockets completely still. Then, slowly, efficiently, and with the absolute authority of the true main character of this story, Larry raised his right hand.

A single, solid, and eternal thumbs-up mechanic.

After reading the notification, a warm smile spread across Kaito's face.

He looked at his new family, and a comforting warmth filled his heart.

"Thank you... everyone," he murmured softly.

In response, the room erupted in cheers.

"LONG LIVE RAVENLOFT HOLDINGS!!! HORRAYYY!"

"Maybe... I can be really happy."
