After some time, the priest conducting the sacred yaga glanced toward the women who were gathered near the side of the ceremonial area.

The rituals had reached the point where the brides needed to be brought before the sacred fire, and the priest quietly gestured toward them.

"Please bring both the brides, The time has come for them to take their places beside Devara."

The women immediately understood.

Among them were Lata and Saurabheyi, two of Devara’s wives who had been helping with the wedding arrangements.

They exchanged a quick glance before nodding.

"We will bring them," Lata said.

Saurabheyi smiled and nodded as well.

The two women then turned away from the ceremonial stage and began walking toward the chambers where the brides were preparing.

The atmosphere around them had already become more expectant, with the sacred chanting continuing behind them and the citizens waiting eagerly for the moment when the brides would finally appear.

Lata glanced toward Saurabheyi as they walked.

"It is finally time."

Saurabheyi smiled.

"Yes. Yami and Indhumati have been waiting for this moment all day."

They continued through the decorated corridors, heading first toward the chambers where the two brides were being prepared, while behind them the sacred fire continued burning steadily before Devara, awaiting the arrival of the women who would soon take their places beside him.

After a few more minutes, the sound of the musicians changed once again.

The soft ceremonial melody that had been playing around the sacred fire gradually grew louder, and the drums began to beat with a steady rhythm that immediately caught the attention of everyone in the arena.

Conversations among the citizens faded as thousands of eyes turned toward the entrance.

The priest sitting beside the yaga looked up.

"They are coming."

Devara, who had been sitting patiently before the sacred fire, lifted his head toward the entrance.

A moment later, the first of the brides appeared.

Yami entered the arena accompanied by her family.

She was still wearing the beautiful water-blue saree that had been prepared for her, its shimmering fabric catching the light with every step.

The tiny reflective details woven into it seemed to move like sunlight dancing across the surface of a river, making the goddess appear as though she had stepped out from the sacred waters themselves.

Sandhya and Chaya walked close beside her, while the other women of her family accompanied her toward the ceremonial stage.

The moment the citizens caught sight of her, the arena erupted.

Cheers rolled through the enormous gathering, with people rising from their seats just to get a better glimpse of the divine bride they had heard so much about.

"Goddess Yamuna!"

"Victory to Goddess Yamuna!"

"May the bride and groom be blessed!"

Yami smiled shyly at the reaction, though her eyes instinctively searched ahead.

She found Devara.

He was already looking at her.

For a brief moment, everything around them seemed to fade into the background.

The music, the cheering citizens, the movement of the guests and even the chanting of the priest became distant as their eyes met across the arena.

Yami’s smile grew slightly.

Then, beside the entrance, another group appeared.

This time it was Indhumati.

The princess walked forward accompanied by her family, dressed in a magnificent yellow saree that gave her an entirely different appearance from Yami.

The bright golden-yellow fabric complemented the ceremonial decorations around the arena, and the jewelry adorning her made the entire ensemble appear even more regal.

Her family walked proudly beside her, their expressions filled with happiness and emotion as they watched their daughter approach the man she was about to marry.

The citizens immediately began cheering again.

Some who had already been amazed by Yami now found themselves equally captivated by the mortal princess walking beside her family.

"Look at the princess!"

"Both brides are beautiful!"

The musicians increased their performance, drums and flutes filling the arena as flowers were scattered along the path.

Indhumati smiled at the crowd, though beneath that composed expression there was a flutter of nervousness.

Her eyes soon found Devara as well.

He smiled at her.

The nervousness in her face eased immediately.

The two brides continued forward, one dressed in shimmering blue like sacred water and the other dressed in radiant yellow like the warmth of the sun.

Their families accompanied them from opposite sides, while thousands of citizens watched the extraordinary sight unfolding before them.

Devara remained seated before the sacred fire, his eyes moving between Yami and Indhumati as they approached.

The priest prepared the next part of the ceremony.

The musicians continued playing.

And the cheers of Trivenivrata filled the royal arena as both brides finally made their way toward the stage to take their places beside their groom.

As both brides reached the ceremonial stage and took their places beside Devara, the priest began preparing for the next portion of the marriage rituals.

The atmosphere around the yaga became quieter, the earlier cheers of the citizens settling into an expectant silence as everyone watched the families of the brides come forward.

For Yami’s side, Surya Dev and the members of her family stepped forward.

Sandhya and Chaya stood proudly near their daughter, while the other members of the Surya family remained close, ready to participate in the sacred rites.

On Indhumati’s side, King Padmanabha Varman and Queen Devayani came forward with the other members of their family.

The king’s expression carried the unmistakable pride of a father watching his daughter begin a new life, while Devayani kept her eyes fixed affectionately on Indhumati.

Then the priest turned toward Devara’s side.

"The parents of the groom may now come forward."

For a moment, nothing happened.

The citizens looked around curiously.

Ganga and Bhudevi had already been openly present, and everyone knew that they were Devara’s mothers.

But the priest’s words had another meaning.

The role of the groom’s parents during this particular ritual had been decided earlier.

Suddenly, the space beside Ganga and Bhudevi seemed to shimmer.

A warm golden radiance appeared in the air, spreading gently through the ceremonial area.

The divine concealment that had hidden two of the most powerful beings present from mortal eyes finally disappeared.

Lord Vishnu and Goddess Lakshmi revealed themselves.

The reaction was immediate.

A wave of astonishment swept through the royal arena.

Thousands of citizens who had never expected to see the Lord of Vaikuntha and Goddess Lakshmi standing before them instinctively bowed their heads.

Kings, queens, princes and visiting dignitaries followed, while even those who had already known of their presence showed their respect.

The musicians fell silent.

For a few moments, the entire arena seemed to exist in complete stillness.

Vishnu and Lakshmi slowly walked toward the ceremonial stage.

Devara looked at them.

Lakshmi’s eyes were still slightly moist, but her face carried a happiness that was impossible to hide.

She had spent so long wishing for this moment, and now she was finally walking toward her son to take her place as his mother during his wedding.

Vishnu reached the yaga and looked toward the priest.

"I have come with my wife,"

He said calmly, his voice carrying throughout the arena.

"We shall take part in these rituals as Devara’s father and mother."

The priest immediately bowed respectfully.

"As you wish, Lord."

Vishnu and Lakshmi then took their places beside Ganga and Bhudevi.

The sight itself was extraordinary.

Four divine mothers stood together behind Devara, while Vishnu stood among them as one of the fathers who had come to bless his son.

Shiva and Parvati, Brahma and Saraswati watched from nearby, their expressions filled with quiet affection.

Devara looked at Lakshmi.

She smiled at him through eyes still glistening with tears.

He smiled back.

No words were needed.

She had been given the place she had quietly longed for.

And now, before gods, kings and the people of Trivenivrata, Goddess Lakshmi would finally perform the sacred wedding rituals for her son.

As the priest began reciting the sacred mantras and guiding the families through the rituals, Lakshmi found herself struggling to keep her emotions under control.

She had imagined this moment countless times, perhaps more times than she would ever admit, but imagining it and actually living it were two entirely different things.

Now she was standing beside Vishnu, seated before the sacred fire with their son in front of them, and every little part of the ceremony seemed to make the reality sink deeper into her heart.

Her eyes repeatedly filled with tears.

She would blink them away.

Then another wave of emotion would rise, and once again she would have to control herself.

Vishnu noticed it almost immediately.

He glanced toward his wife and saw the way she was trying to maintain her composure while performing the rituals, her lips occasionally trembling whenever the priest instructed her to place an offering into the sacred fire or bless Devara.

Lakshmi noticed his glance and quietly whispered,

"Don’t look at me."

Vishnu’s lips curved into a small smile.

"You are going to cry."

"I am not,"

She whispered back, even though her eyes were already shining with tears.

Vishnu gently smiled.

"Of course you aren’t."

Lakshmi gave him a tiny irritated look, but she could not stop herself from smiling.

She turned her attention back toward Devara.

The sight of him sitting before her made her heart swell with happiness.

The elaborate wedding clothes she had chosen for him looked even more beautiful now that he was seated before the sacred fire.

She remembered preparing them and insisting that her son wear every ornament she had selected, despite his complaints that she had decorated him like a royal treasure chest.

Now she could hardly take her eyes away from him.

This was her son.

Her only child.

The child she had watched grow from the earliest days of his life.

And today she was sitting before him as his mother, participating in his wedding.

When the priest instructed the parents to perform another ritual, Lakshmi carefully followed his directions. Her hands remained steady, but her eyes betrayed her completely.

Tears gathered along her lashes again, and this time she allowed a few of them to fall.

She quickly wiped them away before Devara could notice.

But he noticed.

He looked toward her and smiled.

That small smile nearly broke the last of her composure.

Lakshmi lowered her eyes, laughing softly through her tears.

She was not sad.

Not even remotely.

These were tears born from happiness, from relief and from the overwhelming realization that the moment she had quietly wished for had finally arrived.

For so long she had watched other divine parents experience the different stages of their children’s lives. She had loved Devara fiercely, but there had always been a tiny part of her heart that wondered what it would feel like to perform these rituals for her own child.

Now she knew.

And as the sacred fire burned before them, the mantras echoed through the arena and Devara sat surrounded by his brides and their families, Lakshmi could no longer hide the enormous smile on her face.

She was finally living the moment she had waited for.

She was a mother watching her son get married.
