Soon after the guard had finished informing Devara’s wives, he continued through the palace until he reached Rajmata Satyavati’s chambers.

She was sitting with a few attendants and was engaged in a quiet conversation when the guard entered, bowed respectfully and waited for her permission to speak.

"Rajmata, Maharaja Devara has asked that the entire palace be informed of some wonderful news. Queen Gandhari is with child."

Satyavati’s face immediately changed when she heard those words.

For a second, she simply stared at the guard as though making sure she had heard him correctly, and then a broad smile appeared across her face.

"Gandhari is pregnant?"

"Yes, Rajmata. The Royal Physician confirmed it herself."

Satyavati’s happiness was impossible to hide.

The palace had gone through enough sorrow recently, especially after the news of Pandu’s death, and the arrival of a new life into the family felt like something they could finally celebrate without any shadow hanging over it.

"That is wonderful news,"

she said warmly.

"After everything that has happened, I am glad we finally have something that will bring everyone together for happiness."

She then turned toward one of the maids standing nearby.

"Go to the kitchens and tell them to prepare some fresh fruits and dishes with a sour taste. If Gandhari has begun experiencing the usual cravings, she may appreciate them, and I don’t want her to have to wait for anything she suddenly feels like eating."

The maid immediately bowed.

"Yes, Rajmata. I will have them prepared."

"Make sure they are fresh,"

Satyavati added.

"Take some of the fruits that are naturally sour, and have the cooks prepare a few dishes that have the same flavour. Let them make enough for her and the people attending her."

The maid nodded again before leaving the chamber.

Satyavati remained where she was for a moment, smiling to herself as she imagined Gandhari’s reaction to the news that everyone already knew.

Then she slowly rose from her seat.

"Rajmata, shall we accompany you?"

one of the attendants asked.

Satyavati nodded her head.

"Yes. I want to congratulate her myself. She should hear it from someone who is genuinely happy for her."

She adjusted her clothing before leaving the chamber with her attendants.

As she walked through the palace corridors,

Satyavati couldn’t help thinking about how quickly life could change.

Only recently, the palace had been filled with grief after Pandu’s death, and the family was still dealing with the pain of losing him.

Now, almost unexpectedly, they had received news of a child who would soon become another member of their family.

A new generation was beginning.

And for Satyavati, who had watched the Kuru family grow, suffer and change through the years, the thought brought a quiet happiness that she had not felt in some time.

By the time she reached Gandhari’s chamber, the smile on her face had returned fully.

She was no longer going there merely as the Rajmata of Trivenivrata.

She was going there as an elder of the family, ready to congratulate a young woman who was about to become a mother.

The news continued spreading through the palace, reaching every person who had a close connection with the royal family.

After informing Rajmata Satyavati, the guards were sent to find Mahamantri Shakuni, who was occupied with several matters concerning the kingdom.

When the guards finally found him, they immediately bowed before him.

"Mahamantri, we have come with wonderful news from Maharaja Devara."

Shakuni looked up from the documents in front of him.

"What happened?"

The guard couldn’t hide his smile.

"Queen Gandhari is pregnant."

For a moment, Shakuni simply stared at him.

Then his entire expression changed.

"My sister?"

The guard nodded.

"Yes, Mahamantri. The Royal Physician has confirmed it."

Shakuni immediately stood up from his seat, leaving the documents and everything else he had been working on without giving them another glance.

"Forget all of this."

The ministers and officials around him looked at one another in surprise.

"Mahamantri, what about the matters you were discussing?"

"They can wait."

Shakuni was already walking toward the door.

"My sister is going to become a mother. Do you honestly expect me to sit here and discuss reports?"

The officials had no answer.

Shakuni turned back briefly.

"Cancel everything I had planned for the rest of the day. If something is truly urgent, bring it to me tomorrow."

He didn’t wait for a response.

He practically hurried through the palace corridors, his usual calculating expression replaced by the excitement of a brother who had just received news that his beloved sister was carrying a child.

"Finally,"

he muttered with a smile.

After everything Gandhari had endured, Shakuni couldn’t have been happier for her.

Meanwhile, the guards continued carrying the news to the remaining members of the royal household.

Eventually, they reached the chamber where Bhishma was staying.

The guards bowed deeply before him.

"Pitamah, we have received wonderful news from the royal palace."

Bhishma looked toward them.

"What news?"

"Queen Gandhari is pregnant."

Bhishma remained silent for a moment.

Then a warm smile appeared on his face.

"She is?"

"Yes."

Bhishma lowered his head slightly.

The news touched him deeply.

He had watched Devara build his kingdom, watched his family grow around him and had seen enough death during the recent war.

The thought of another child entering the royal family brought him genuine happiness.

Bhishma slowly closed his eyes.

"May Mahadev bless the child."

He folded his hands.

"May the child be born healthy, may he or she be protected from every danger, and may Mahadev guide the child throughout their life."

After offering his prayer, Bhishma opened his eyes again.

"Where is Gandhari?"

"In her chamber with Maharaja Devara."

Bhishma nodded his head.

"Then I shall go and congratulate them."

He rose from his seat and began walking toward the chamber.

For Bhishma, the news carried more meaning than simply the birth of another royal child.

After the death of Pandu, the Kuru family had been struck by another painful loss.

Now, only days later, he receives a good news for his brother.

A child was on the way.

And Bhishma intended to be there to offer his blessings to both the parents and the unborn child.

Meanwhile, the news of Queen Gandhari’s pregnancy did not remain within the palace for long.

Once the royal messengers began carrying Devara’s announcement across Trivenivrata, it seemed as though the entire kingdom had suddenly found a reason to celebrate.

The people had already been rejoicing over their king’s return from the hundred-day war, and now they had received another piece of news that was far more personal to them.

Their king was going to become a father.

Following Devara’s orders, the streets of the capital were quickly decorated as though a major festival had been announced.

Colourful cloth was hung between buildings, flower garlands were placed along the roads, and lamps were prepared to be lit once evening arrived.

Merchants began giving sweets to anyone who passed their shops, while groups of children ran through the streets excitedly, repeating the news they had heard from the palace.

"Queen Gandhari is going to have a child!"

"The Maharaja is going to become a father!"

The excitement spread from the capital into the surrounding villages as well.

People who had never even seen Gandhari personally still celebrated the news because they regarded the royal family as their own.

After the devastation of the recent war, the sight of people smiling and decorating their homes brought a completely different atmosphere to the kingdom.

The temples of Trivenivrata also joined the celebrations.

Priests began performing special poojas and offering prayers for the unborn child.

Lamps were lit before the deities, flowers were offered, and sacred chants could be heard from the temples throughout the day.

Their prayers were simple but heartfelt, asking the gods to protect the child growing inside Gandhari and allow the pregnancy to progress without complications.

Some temples even arranged special offerings on behalf of the people, with families coming together to pray for the health of their future prince or princess.

For the people of Trivenivrata, this child represented more than another member of the royal family.

They had watched their king leave for war.

They had spent a hundred days wondering whether he would return.

They had seen the kingdom threatened while he was away and had heard how the gods themselves had intervened to protect their land.

Now their king had returned alive, the enemy had surrendered, and a new life was growing within the royal palace.

It felt to many of them as though the kingdom itself had finally been given a chance to breathe after months of uncertainty.

As night approached, the lamps throughout the capital were lit one after another, turning the streets into a sea of warm light.

Music continued from the public squares while families gathered outside their homes, sharing sweets and talking about the child who had not yet been born but had already become the centre of celebration across the kingdom.

And inside the palace, completely unaware of just how much excitement her pregnancy had created outside its walls,

Gandhari rested peacefully while Devara’s kingdom celebrated the arrival of a child that would soon become part of its history.
