Chapter 243 - Troubles
Wallace pulled out his Holy Elixirs that he received from the Pathfinder. He unhesitatingly uncapped one of them to quickly heal Clint, the man with the heaviest injury.
His head suffered a bit of deformation as he was unprotected by mana when he was thrown away.
He was unconscious and unsteadily breathing. His physical strength was not enough to guard such a powerful attack.
"Yumi, take these two!"
He noticed that this lady was in a better condition and threw two of his elixirs so she can give it to the two seriously injured ladies.
They probably have their own healing tools, magic, or potions but he decided to give him his own since the quality of his elixirs should be better and would surely heal them completely. His Pathfinder never gave him bad quality objects.
As he was trying to do his best to save Clint's life, he didn't forget to survey the surroundings for any approaching danger.
Although there was a little chance that they will be attacked by a chimera or a mana beast due to the show of force made by the Celestial, he can't be too sure in this unpredictable land.
Yumi assisted the ladies to take the potion orally and waited for it to take effect before letting out a sigh of relief.
"Whew... We survived, huh..."
Yumi slowly said as she waved her hands. Blood can be seen on her palms due to clenching her fist tightly.
She was about to use her one-time-use mana artifact and escape from here but when she almost activated the artifact, Wallace spoke to the Celestial Being and made it fly away.
"Wallace! Is he alright?"
Yumi asked as she noticed that although Clint still has an abundant life force, he wasn't waking up.
"He's healing slowly... We probably needed more time to rest."
"I understand but we need to get away from here as quickly as possible..."
Yumi glanced worriedly at their current location. Hannah already stood up as she thanked the two for their quick response to the situation.
"Mhmm... I can carry him in the meantime. How about the two?"
"Your elixirs worked very well. They should be fine in about ten minutes..."
Yumi looked at Hannah who was starting to gain her balance.
"Alright... By the way, don't you have any tools with you to protect against such Celestial, you shouldn't be clueless when you decided to go here, right?"
"Isn't that's the reason why I chose you to come with us? I trust you..."
"Hey... That's too much..."
"I'm kidding... Grandma Thea-- I mean, one of my friends told me that it was almost impossible to encounter a Celestial here but in case we needed to escape from one, I have an artifact here that would let us escape but..."
Yumi started to explain the mana artifact to Wallace.
Unfortunately, although she has this artifact in case of emergency given by Grandma Thea, once it was used, it also means that their journey in this continent would be over and they won't be able to rescue her cousin just to save their lives.
"Sigh~ Be sure to use that if you notice that our lives were in danger..."
"Yes... I'm sorry. I couldn't think properly... I was thinking that once I activated the artifact, we can no longer save my cousin but..."
Yumi emotionally said as she looked at her friends that suffered some serious injuries a few moments ago.
"I realized that we can just return here with stronger force in case we failed today..."
She said decisively as she was not willing to give up in rescuing her cousin.
Wallace listened to Yumi and approved her words but as soon as he plans to add more to it, he sensed another creature approaching them very fast. He felt relief after realizing that it was not a Celestial Being but just another worm that was trying to catch them unprepared.
"Let's avoid engaging with it..."
Yumi also noticed its presence. It was slowly burrowing to their current place as it thought that they can't sense its presence.
"Alright..." Wallace agreed as he carried the still unconscious Clint. Yumi helped Elaine stand up while Hannah was still aching a bit due to her broken arm.
But since she can still jump or run, she didn't need that much help.
Baam!
The large worm almost similar to the first creature they encountered rushed out but failed to catch any one of them as they already jumped away and continued their path. They ignored the worm as they can't be bothered to waste such precious time with that creature.
"Wallace, do you think that the Celestial would not come back to find us?"
Yumi suddenly thought of this as they run through the forest so she quickly asked the man to give his thoughts about it.
"I don't think so... I'm even thinking that they will fight against each other..."
"Really?"
"Not sure... I just have a hunch."
"Well, I hope that it's true... I don't want to encounter them anymore."
It was what everyone felt so Yumi didn't really have to say.
The night was quickly approaching and everyone was already back to their peak conditions...
"Man, that was terrible..."
Clint said as he remembers the painful experience.
Being unable to utilize mana was truly a nightmare for all the magicians.
He trained his body and taken multiple body enhancements to improve it to the limit as he wanted to be a versatile magician.
Unfortunately, the gap between the Celestials and magicians seems to be too huge.
"Yumi, you should treat me to a luxurious meal at the best restaurant in the capital after this!"
"Hahaha! Don't worry, my cousin has a lot of money... We can ask him for a fee after this."
The lady answered which brought a light laugh to everyone. Yumi, Clint, and Hannah have been friends for a long time so they could take that previous encounter lightly. Anyway, they already survived and they planned to survive until they rescue that headmaster.
"Wallace, I heard that those elixirs were expensive..."
"Don't worry about that... We can talk about it after all of this was over..."
The young man smiled as he looked far ahead on their path. He noticed that a group of chimeras hiding within the dark shadows of the nearest gorge was waiting for them to approach and probably to ambush their group.
"Everyone, can you sense them?"
Wallace asked as he wanted to clarify his guess.
"No... Is there an approaching enemy..."
Yumi said after she tried to extend her senses.
"Not really... They were hiding in the shadows... Let's stop and camp somewhere else... The night was already approaching."
They followed Wallace's advice as they went to find a good spot. Unfortunately, they couldn't find a cave that was similar to the one they found before.
"Let's just make our cave..."
Clint said as he was well versed in earth-based magic spells and his mana artifact can easily create a cave for them.
It only took five minutes to create a spacious cave. Elaine and Hannah helped each other to cast protective spells to ensure that no one would disturb them.
But Wallace was still unsatisfied as he brought out another device from his Spatial Bag.
"What was that?"
Elaine asked curiously at the small machine Wallace brought out.
"It can generate a radiant wave shield if necessary."
He answered.
