Chapter 137 - Last Days Of School
"That took several revisions before I got a pass." Gilbert said as he grumbled after taking a seat. Although he was internally happy that his project gained a passing mark, it made him feel very tired thinking about the four revisions he had to make before it was accepted by the instructors.
His project to give a reaction paper about Dr. Mau Zed's theory of Mana Density and Constancy had taken so long. It wasn't that difficult reading and giving insights in an accomplished book but due to it having several volumes, he had to make sure that he'd connect the earlier book's conclusions to the later ones.
"I heard that the theory you're researching was his foundation on why he managed to survive in the northern continent. Also, I'm actually interested in his involvement to a specific research related to Temporal Acceleration. It was supposedly Lost Technology." A deep voice with a foreign accent was heard behind Gilbert. It was Kazimir that has arrived as he greeted Wallace, Ericka, Ross, and Gilbert at the cafeteria. Behind him were the twins of their class, Kenneth and Katherine Cummings.
It was already three in the afternoon and their group was having a light meal with milk and bread as they waited for Gilbert to finish his dealing with the instructors.
"Oh... That's right. Your project was related to giving insights about the Lost Technology. Hmm... Truthfully, Dr. Mau Zed has indeed made an appearance in my research as well. Haha! He was mentioned a couple of times. It seems that he was very active when he was young. As you know, I'm researching about the Northern Continent and there was a passage there where it stated that only 24 known individuals managed to leave the northern continent unharmed. The doctor was one of them." Ericka smiled and agreed with Kazimir's claim. Of course, only 24 were known individuals but no one truly knows whether there were more individuals capable of going in or out of the continent. It was only a number given to the public with the joint countries' agreement.
It seems that the said person was involved not only in the study of science and mana technology but also in pioneering the mysterious northern continent.
Due to being exempted on this research project. Ross and Wallace have plenty of times and even offered some help with their friends. With regards to Tracy Guilford, Wallace had rarely meet her during the remaining days in their academy. She had only appeared when there was only about a couple of weeks before the end of their second academic year. It seems that there has been some trouble within their family.
"So, everyone's here. Where should we go next?" Ericka asked even though she was already aware. Only a few days left before the end of the year and their small group wanted to have some more memorable experience before they separated. Apparently, Ross Schien will be transferring to Skywalker Academy in the third year.
This academy was situated within the Capital City of Zairus where the main branch of Schien Clan was also located. Aside from that, Kazimir would also be returning to Virgan. He was originally there and recently, some people were sent by his parents to take him home.
But he didn't agree immediately and asked to wait until the end of the academic year.
Not only that, there were rumors as well that Tracy would also be transferring to a different academy though they weren't sure where to yet.
Most of his classmates weren't aware of what's happening but Wallace had a gist of the storm that was brewing within this city. He didn't bother mentioning it to his unaware classmates as he was sure that someone would do something about it.
The group went to visit an amusement park within the city and enjoyed themselves. After getting tired, they enjoyed the city's specialty cuisine in a high-class restaurant's top floor VIP room. It was reserved by Ross but payment would be shared by him, Kazimir, and Wallace.
After befriending Ross, Gilbert had learned that the former was also a bit talkative and would be a great friend. Unfortunately, the man would be transferring to a different academy already.
As they were about to start dining, someone knocked on the room. They noticed that it was their friend.
"I thought you wouldn't grace us with your presence." Ross smiled teasingly at the newly arrived young lady. After the school ended, Tracy immediately left telling that she had to do something. But this didn't stop them to invite her here.
"Sigh~ I spoke to my dad again. It seems that I'm really be transferring in Skywalker." Tracy muttered as she announced disappointingly. Everyone felt her sadness as they tried to cheer her up.
"It's alright. We'll surely meet again." Kenneth said. The twins will remain studying within Leonhearts.
"That's correct. Hey, Wallace. How about we all transfer to Skywalker?"
"Eh? I don't think its necessary. Besides, the capital is too far."
"It seems that its a trend to transfer now. What will happen to our beloved Leonhearts?"
"Don't think too much. It was just a coincidence. There would still be a lot of students who'll enroll for this year. That's for sure."
"Well, we had a good publicity this year after all. Aside from performing good in TMAC, we had someone compete internationally."
"Don't forget about the local events, some charity and sports events showcasing our abilities. We had been very active recently after all." Ericka proudly said as she was involved in some public activities since she was a member of cultural club in the academy.
Everyone happily talked about many things as the sun was slowly setting. As the night approached, they separated and went back home.
"Welcome back, Captain" A gentle but mechanical voice was heard after Wallace stepped within the house.
It was coming from the speaker installed somewhere within the house.
"Yes. I'm back. How was the progress?" Wallace changed his clothes and seated on the sofa.
"As per your command, we've successfully made the fifth and last humanoid machine." Answered by Avalon.
During this time, Wallace created a humanoid automaton where his A.I. Avalon could occupy or control. It was a mixed of science and mana technology.
He would never accomplish this task perfectly without him learning the secrets of Arcane Link.
Arcane Link wasn't as simple as making a connection to Mana. This mysterious ability that only Adept or Artificer could learn changes the Mana Pool within a Mana Practitioner's body.
The Mana Pool no longer exist as the limited container of Mana after having a breakthrough.
That's right, the Mana Practitioners will possess a Mana Body instead in exchange of the limited Mana Pool. The practitioner's Mana Framework would be different. Their physique would have some changes and Mana will flow naturally within the body. Mana manipulation ability would excessively increase, normal magic spells would multiply by several times, and their senses can be connected to Mana. And although it was miniscule, the magicians who had broken through would start to possess an ability to create Mana on their own.
It was only a theory and wasn't fully studied yet but Wallace felt that it was something that can truly be done after remembering one of the rewards that he could have learned aside from the Void Phase.
Wallace went to his workshop where a fully modified Mech Frame was standing menacingly. The pressuring aura was being contained with the help of layered Mana defense within the workshop. This aura was due to the power source that he had created recently. But it was still not too stable.
This Mech Frame was his creation together with the help of his A.I. Avalon.
After he had two humanoid automatons with a high-level artificial intelligence, he immediately rearranged the Mech Frame with a different power source and several changes in it's part to accommodate Mana.
Right now, after completing the fifth automaton, Wallace and his A.I. will have more hands to make specific magic or technology he needed.
It was a technology to stop Mana from interfering nuclear fission. Wallace had been trying to find a way for a better power source. Although his A.I. was capable of helping him in creating nuclear energy, he had to deal with the main problem first.
"Hmm... Let me see the blueprint of the Zymeth." Wallace said after thinking for a while.
The table at the side of his workshop showed a hologram of the Zymeth. It was his father's starship. He admired it for a bit before switching to other spaceships.
All sample blueprints they had were based on Aether as a source of energy which requires GH Drive to run. Wallace doesn't have anyway to find Aether so he plans to use Nuclear Energy if possible. At the moment, he couldn't trust Mana if it will not cause any problem in the outer space.
"Sigh~ We may have no other choice but to do that..." Wallace muttered before receiving a call from his mom. As the academic year was about to end in the next few days, he plans to return to the Red Star Town.
'She will probably ask when will I be home.' Wallace thought but he heard something different.
"Your older sister heard that you're still there in Tanza, she'll fetch you before going home together."
