Mage Manual
Chapter 1811 - 1341: The Void Realm Perishes with Us
Death Mad once said, as long as they don’t die, Uroboros can infinitely resurrect...
To devour the World Snake, it’s only when the sorcery civilization advances to the seventh layer of the Void Realm that it appears...
Thinking carefully, the mage’s ascension itself is built upon devouring; the demigod devours the Technique Spirit to ’nourish’ the soul body to gain Prison Wings; the Divine Lord consumes the World Secret Domain ’within the belly’ to condense Secret Wings. Even the Dazzling Star and Ash obtained the right to ascend to the Supreme by devouring the Source Angel’s corpse.
As greedy as a thief, as hungry as a parasite.
Precisely because of this unfulfilled desire, mages can grow all the way from insignificant life,
growing bigger,
the bigger they grow, the hungrier they become,
until finally...
Ascend to become a snake!
"So what?"
Dazzling Star’s response was as if the Drama Poet had just uttered a meaningless rant, having no significance worth acknowledging. Not only the Drama Poet, but even Ash, whose thoughts were in turmoil, was baffled by her reaction.
"That means devouring the World Snake is not a sudden disaster, but an inevitable retribution... a mage’s retribution."
"So what?"
Dazzling Star’s tone was still so confident, making Ash start to doubt his judgment: "So... aren’t we actually the scourge of dragging the world into the abyss, rather than its saviors?"
"So what?"
Dazzling Star’s voice was cold and arrogant, yet at this moment the starry sky suddenly accelerated, billions of stars flowing rapidly along their predetermined paths. She was like the sole protagonist of this stage, with the world dancing to her mood, and even the Drama Poet and Ash became dim at this moment.
Some people’s will cannot be swayed; no matter how grand and dense the darkness, it cannot stop a beam of starlight that illuminates the universe.
"Didn’t we already know that the devouring World Snake can infinitely regenerate, eventually growing to a size capable of swallowing everything? If this problem cannot be resolved, what difference does it make whether the snake originates from us or from some unseen bloated being? Or did you grasp some Wonder that could slightly increase your intelligence or lower the snake’s intelligence through self-criticism?"
Ash couldn’t help but criticize: "But if you hadn’t hunted the Source Angel, if the seventh layer of the Void Realm hadn’t emerged, if we hadn’t become Supreme of Magic, all this could have been avoided—"
"If you hadn’t become Supreme of Magic,"
Dazzling Star coldly replied:
"Would you be able to kill ’your’ devouring World Snake?"
Ash was suddenly silent, only laughing at himself after a long pause: "Indeed... what right do I have to speak to you?"
He realized at that moment that the whole world could blame Dazzling Star, but he alone lacked the qualification— the devouring World Snake, Uroboros only came to this world because of him, even Level Six of Hell turned gray and desolate because of it, not knowing how many years it would take to become a gathering place for demigods again.
Dazzling Star’s devouring World Snake hadn’t even matured, and his Uroboros had already taken a real bite out of the world, causing at least 80% of demigods to perish in Hell—although he felt no guilt for it.
Ash could certainly say that the End Five were the true culprits, and he was just innocently swept in as a cult leader.
But he introspected, if there were no End Five, no "Aurora’s Mage Manual," if he had not met Sword Maiden, Witch, Silver Lamp in the Void Realm, if he hadn’t been chained to Vishi, but started alone from Shattered Lake, such an unencumbered life... would he have truly accepted it?
Perhaps he would have been deceived by Igula and died right upon entering Shattered Lake.
Ash always suspected that the reason the Observer started becoming dark in the first round was definitely related to first-round Igula. When Igula was well, he was a true friend, but when he became an asshole; he was truly a scumbag.
Since Ash accepted the benefits of the End Five, naturally he also had to bear everything about the End Five... including Uroboros.
"Although I’d like to say I didn’t know it would draw in Uroboros, similarly you didn’t know entering the seventh layer of the Void Realm would lead to the birth of the devouring World Snake either. In that regard, we’re both the same." Ash’s expression was complex, appearing as a bitter smile yet mocking: "However, even if you knew entering the seventh layer would trigger the doom snake, you’d undoubtedly hunt the Source Angel without hesitation, betting you could resolve the doom snake, rather than give up reaching the roots of magic... You’re the sort who would walk a thousand miles even if you had to walk into Hell to carve out a path."
"Just like you would rather bet on your ability to kill Uroboros than forsake protecting your lovers." Dazzling Star replied calmly: "The difference being, you really walked out from Hell."
"The Drama Poet mentioned earlier, you’ve already slain Uroboros, and after returning from Hell, you weren’t concerned about Level Six of Hell, even spending your days in indulgence, yet you’re very worried about our world’s doom snake. Which means, you know how to kill the doom snake, but you can’t replicate the method..."
"Is it that you lack the ability to replicate, or the desire to replicate?"
Dazzling Star turned her gaze to the Drama Poet, "Moreover, we are the source of the devouring World Snake, as long as we don’t die, the snake will infinitely resurrect, conversely... it’s only when we die that the snake might be exterminated?"
As of now, Ash wouldn’t hide any critical information from Dazzling Star, or rather he never intended to hide anything from her. Previously, he had been trying to leak key intelligence to Dazzling Star, hoping to shirk responsibility and wishing that she would voluntarily support the sky of the Void Realm and save this doomed world. Now, he proactively divulged information to ally with Dazzling Star, to protect the world he valued. For this reason, Ash even temporarily spared the lives of the four Divine Lords, so he could naturally set aside his grudges with Dazzling Star.
Just like Dazzling Star could, in Level Six of Hell, put aside her greed towards Ash and join forces with him to suppress Uroboros.
"The version I heard was that each snake corresponds to an Original Sorcerer concept. As long as the mages of that world haven’t all died and the Original Sorcerer concept remains, new snakes will continuously emerge." Ash said, "I’ve successfully slain Uroboros 63 times, until it could no longer revive, and thus... the former Uroboros completely died, and a new, even stronger Uroboros was born."
"It’s not resurrection, but rebirth."
"The one who ultimately killed Uroboros wasn’t me, but the ’entire Original Sorcerer concept’ perished together with Uroboros. This is the only method I currently know to slay the snake."
Ash stared into the eyes of the Drama Poet: "But you said very clearly, the snake comes from the two of us, unrelated to others. So, as long as we die—"
"—the devouring World Snake will temporarily go extinct." The Drama Poet never shrouded these kinds of bad news in riddles: "Unless a new Supreme of Magic steps into the seventh layer."
Ash and the Drama Poet exchanged a glance and simultaneously burst into laughter.
"Forget Dazzling Star, even I wouldn’t be foolish enough to make such a dull sacrifice."
Ash rubbed his temples: "If the Supreme of Magic dies, the Supreme Holy Grail will automatically disperse. As long as Dazzling Star and I, who hold 90% of the share, remain alive, no new Supremo will emerge in this world. But conversely, as long as either of us dies, multiple Supremes could potentially be born..."
"Since the casting of the Supreme Holy Grail, the birth of the Seven-layer Void, the world has irreversibly plunged into the Abyss. Someone will inevitably sit on the Heavenly Throne, someone will inevitably covet the heartbeat of the Void Realm, and inevitably... the End Snake will devour everything."
"It seems like the Void Realm, to punish the mages’ greed, chooses mutual destruction with us."
Upon careful thought, if Ash were the Void Realm instead, perhaps he would also rather have a snake kill himself. All vital organs (World Secret Domain) have been removed, cancer cells have spread to the heart (Seven-layer Void), parasites even attempt to erode his brain cells (Void Realm heartbeat), highlighting a situation where living an extra moment is considered unprofitable, a state of indescribable agony, dying earlier to relieve himself aligns with the mood of the Void Realm.
"As long as the Original Sorcerer concepts exist, it’s eternal and unextinguished. So why does Uroboros hunt ’you’?" Dazzling Star seemed puzzled, "Doesn’t it know?"
"It probably knows," Ash replied, "But regardless of whether it knows or not, it’s the same, because the snake is the mage, the mage is the snake, and the so-called mages..."
"Are just a bunch of bastards who believe in miracles." He spread his hands helplessly, "Always betting that they won’t die and can fulfill all their wishes, like me, like you."
"Very good lines." The Drama Poet laughed, "May I quote them in my next work?"
"Does this world really have the next work?" Ash looked at the Drama Poet: "Speaking of which, Dazzling Star, how did you capture him? The special power of the Supreme of Magic? But I don’t know if it’s my illusion..."
"Your cage seems to not be able to trap him."
Dazzling Star suddenly turned to look at the Drama Poet. The Drama Poet sighed, slipping out of the chains like an eel, tipping his tall hat slightly towards the two, and walking into the sun to wipe the sweat off his forehead: "Honestly, could you prepare a more comfortable cell for me? It’s really too hot in the sun."
"No need." Dazzling Star regained her calm, "Since you can’t be trapped, then you’re free."
"I wouldn’t dare leave," the Drama Poet sighed, "According to your personality, the moment I leave, the next moment Starlight will massacre and exterminate all living beings in the Sea of Knowledge."
"Sea of Knowledge?" Ash was shocked.
"I didn’t capture him," Dazzling Star said, "I only led him to voluntarily come to the seven layers of the Void Realm."
"While you were on a honeymoon with your lovers under the Blood Moon, this world was also precarious. But the danger didn’t come from Uroboros, instead, it was from the guardian next to you who wasn’t qualified to travel and had to stay and guard the home." The Drama Poet looked helpless, "She announced in the Void Realm that if I didn’t appear, she would massacre the Void Realm one layer per day."
"The first day, Sea of Knowledge; second day, Time Continent; third day, Dream Stairs; fourth day, Ruby Mountain; fifth day, Seven Heavens. She only gave me five days, and if I didn’t show up in five days, she would repetitively cleanse the Void Realm and even bring extinction down to reality."
Ash listened in astonishment: "Cleansing the Void Realm, but she is the Supreme of Magic, barely managing to return to Seven Heavens, how would she—"
"For you all, it’s only about willingness, not ability."
The Drama Poet glared at him with annoyance:
"Within these few seconds, haven’t you already thought of several ways to circumvent the Law and massacre all beings in the Void Realm?"
Ash fell into silence.
Naturally, he had ways to slaughter the Void Realm.
Ruby Mountain goes without saying; all he needs is to ask Freyja, and the Princess group would immediately become the most cruel nightmare of Ruby Mountain. As for the Sea of Knowledge to Dream Stairs, he only needs to brainwash three lucky mages, implant Wonders in their souls, then have them descend into the Void Realm, where they’d explode miracles like a suicide attack. The Void Realm wouldn’t incur any damage, but all beings would go completely insane due to the Supreme Color left by the Wonders.
As for reality, it’s even simpler. An Angel could sweep the land back and forth several times, even easily establishing a forbidden domain for beings, which, even if only lasting a few months, would be enough to plunge the entire world into silence.
For them, in this world, most issues are only about whether they’re willing to pay enough price, not about whether it’s possible to accomplish.
