Chapter 250: Chapter 250 Neptune

"What kind of atmosphere do you want in your apartment? Something modern or do you prefer a softer, more comfortable look?"

Daisy typed her answer on her phone and showed it to her.

Soft and dreamy. I want it to feel warm and peaceful like a place where I can relax after a long day.

Claire nodded and wrote it down. "Any particular colours you like?"

Daisy mentioned a few.

"What about furniture? Do you prefer minimal furniture, or do you want to fill the space with decorative pieces?"

Another question followed, then another.

Claire asked about Daisy’s budget, how many rooms she wanted to furnish first, whether she planned to live alone and even how much natural light she preferred in each room.

Daisy answered everything patiently.

She had expected the renovation discussion to be a little confusing but Claire made the process surprisingly easy. She listened carefully instead of simply telling Daisy what she thought would look good.

After nearly half an hour, Claire closed her notebook.

"All right. I have a fairly good idea of what you want now. Let’s see the actual space before deciding anything. The layout, lighting and existing fittings will determine what we can do."

Daisy nodded eagerly.

She could hardly wait to show them her apartment.

Mona smiled at her excitement.

"Come on, then. Let’s go!"

The three women left the café and got into Claire’s car.

As they drove toward Neptune, Daisy looked out of the window, watching the familiar buildings pass by.

Neptune was a beautiful residential property situated in a well-developed area. The surroundings were clean and well-maintained with broad roads, landscaped greenery, and shops and cafés not too far away.

It was the sort of place where Daisy could imagine herself living comfortably.

Her apartment was on the fourth floor.

She had visited it only once before, with Cedric. At the time, she had been so caught up in everything happening in her life that she hadn’t paid much attention to the details.

Now, as the car entered the property, she felt a different kind of excitement.

This place was going to be hers.

Not a room in someone else’s house. Not somewhere she had to worry about overstaying her welcome.

Her own home.

Claire parked the car and the three of them made their way inside.

A short elevator ride later, they reached the fourth floor.

Daisy unlocked the apartment door and stepped aside to let them enter first.

The apartment was completely empty.

There was no furniture, no curtains, no decoration and nothing to make the place feel lived in. Only the bare white walls, tiled floors and the soft daylight coming through the windows greeted them.

The living room was spacious with enough room for a comfortable sofa, a coffee table and a television unit. A wide window allowed natural light to enter, making the otherwise plain room feel open and airy.

Beyond it, the kitchen occupied a separate section of the apartment. It had the basic fittings and counters but the cabinets and storage would need some thought if Daisy wanted the space to be both pretty and practical.

A short passage led to the bedrooms.

The main bedroom was a good size with a large window and enough space for a double bed, bedside tables, and a wardrobe.

The second bedroom was smaller, suitable for a guest room or perhaps a little study where Daisy could keep her books and work on her writing.

The bathroom was fitted with the essentials, although its plain appearance left plenty of room for improvement through better lighting, mirrors and storage.

There was also a small balcony attached to the living area. From there, Daisy could look out over the surrounding buildings and greenery.

It wasn’t a luxurious penthouse or an enormous apartment but it had a lovely layout. The rooms were practical, the windows brought in plenty of daylight, and the space felt full of possibilities.

Daisy stood in the middle of the living room, turning slowly as she looked around.

She could already imagine a soft-coloured sofa near the window, sheer curtains moving in the breeze, a few indoor plants and warm lights in the corners.

Perhaps she could put a small bookshelf beside the bedroom window.

And maybe a dressing table with a mirror and little drawers for her things.

Her lips curved into a smile.

Claire, meanwhile, was already examining the walls and measuring the available space with her eyes.

"Well," she said, taking out her notebook again, "this is a good starting point. We don’t need to make everything expensive to make it beautiful. We just need to plan it properly."

Mona walked toward the balcony and looked back at Daisy.

"I can already picture you sitting out here with a cup of tea."

Daisy nodded enthusiastically.

She could picture it too.

Claire called her over to discuss the bedroom layout and Daisy hurried to join her, ready to answer every question.

After a long discussion about the renovation, Daisy and Mona finally left Neptune and went to a nearby restaurant for lunch.

Claire had been incredibly thorough. By the time the meeting ended, Daisy had a much clearer idea of what needed to be done in her apartment, along with a rough plan for the furniture, colours and lighting.

Her head was full of ideas but she was happy.

More importantly, she was hungry.

Mona seemed to share the same feeling.

"Honestly, I could eat an entire pizza right now," she declared as they settled at their table.

Daisy laughed silently and opened the menu.

They ordered their food, and once the waiter left, their conversation naturally drifted toward work.

Mona complained about a particularly irritating task at the laboratory, Daisy shared her thoughts about the renovation and soon enough, they were laughing over some ridiculous incident involving Ace.

Then, as always, Mona found a way to bring up celebrities.

"You know what happened yesterday?" she asked, leaning across the table with sudden excitement.

Daisy looked at her curiously.

"Scarlett Hayes! You know, the actress who played the princess in The Crown of Ashes? Apparently, there’s some drama going on between her and her best friend."

Daisy raised her eyebrows.

Mona continued without taking a breath.

"Apparently, Scarlett’s best friend was leaking private information about her to the press. And now people are saying she deliberately ruined Scarlett’s relationship with Adrian Blackwood!"

Daisy’s eyes widened.

Mona leaned closer.

"And the funniest part? Scarlett apparently had no idea what was happening until someone sent her screenshots. Can you imagine finding out your best friend has been betraying you like that?"

Daisy shook her head, looking genuinely surprised.

"I know!" Mona exclaimed. "These celebrity friendships are more complicated than my entire love life."

Daisy covered her mouth, laughing silently.

Mona pointed at her.

"Don’t laugh! I’m serious. At least my problems don’t end up on the internet with five million people discussing them."

Daisy shook her head, still smiling.

Mona continued explaining the gossip, mentioning names and incidents with the enthusiasm of someone presenting a criminal investigation.

"Apparently, there was an old picture of Scarlett and her best friend together before everything went wrong. But nobody seems to know where the original came from. It’s so strange because—"

"Wait..."

Daisy suddenly sat up.

Mona stopped talking.
