Mafia Lord's Mute Sweetheart
Chapter 231
Chapter 231: Chapter 231
Daisy glanced at her phone again.
She knew the question was natural. Anyone who had just gone through a divorce might need to make arrangements for a place to stay, and Mona was probably wondering whether Daisy had somewhere safe and comfortable to go.
Still, Daisy hesitated before answering.
She was staying at Alessio’s house, but she wasn’t quite ready to explain that arrangement to everyone. It was new, and she was still getting used to the idea herself.
Besides, she didn’t want her personal circumstances to become the subject of unnecessary speculation at work.
So she kept her answer simple.
Daisy: I’m staying at a friend’s house for a few days.
Mona read the message, then exchanged a quick glance with Ace.
"Well, if you need somewhere to stay for a while, you can always stay at my place."
Daisy blinked.
Mona continued "I have enough room, and it wouldn’t be a problem at all. You can stay until you figure everything out."
Ace nodded immediately.
"Same here. My apartment isn’t far from the laboratory, so it would be convenient if you needed somewhere closer to work. I also know a few people who might be able to help you with other arrangements."
Daisy’s eyes widened slightly.
She looked at Mona, then at Ace, wondering whether they understood how much their offers meant to her.
They had only known her for a few weeks. They had their own lives, their own responsibilities and their own problems. Yet both were willing to make room for her without asking for anything in return.
She had spent so long in a situation where even the simplest things could become complicated that this kind of uncomplicated kindness almost surprised her.
Daisy shook her head gently, then began typing again.
Daisy: Thank you so much. That’s really kind of you. I actually have an apartment of my own. I just need to get it fixed up before I can move in. I want to renovate it a little, too.
Mona read the message, and her expression brightened.
"Oh! That’s wonderful!"
She sat up a little straighter, looking genuinely pleased.
"Having your own place will give you a fresh start. You can arrange everything exactly how you like it, choose your own furniture, decorate it however you want..."
She paused, narrowing her eyes thoughtfully.
"Wait. What kind of style do you like? Something modern? Something cozy? Or are you one of those people who saves hundreds of pretty apartment pictures and then can’t decide which one to copy?"
Daisy’s eyes widened in amused recognition.
She immediately nodded.
Mona burst out laughing.
"I knew it!"
Ace looked between them. "How did you know that?"
"Because look at her! She has the Sweet face of someone who has an entire collection of pretty rooms saved somewhere on her phone."
Daisy pressed her lips together, trying not to laugh too hard, then opened her gallery and showed Mona a few pictures of interiors she liked.
There were soft colors, neatly arranged furniture, warm lighting and little decorative details that made the rooms feel welcoming rather than overly formal.
Mona leaned closer to look.
"Oh, these are lovely. I can see why you like them."
She studied the pictures for another moment before asking, "Have you already found someone to handle the renovation?"
Daisy shook her head.
"Not yet? Then I can ask around."
Mona immediately took out her own phone.
"I have a few friends who might know reliable contractors or people who do interior work. I’ll ask them if they know someone trustworthy. Ideally, someone who won’t charge you an unreasonable amount just because you’re renovating an entire apartment."
Ace nodded in agreement.
"That’s a good idea. You should get a proper estimate before agreeing to anything. And don’t pay the entire amount upfront."
Mona glanced at him. "Are you speaking from experience?"
Ace paused.
"...Maybe."
Mona gave him a knowing look. "I knew it. What happened?"
"Nothing happened."
"That’s what people say when something definitely happened."
Daisy laughed silently again, her attention moving between them as their familiar bickering continued.
Ace finally raised both hands in surrender.
"Fine. I’ll tell you later. But my point stands. Find someone reliable, compare the prices and make sure everything is agreed upon before the work begins."
Daisy nodded seriously, appreciating the practical advice as much as the offer of help.
She typed another message and turned the screen toward Mona.
Daisy: I would really appreciate that. Thank you!
Mona smiled at her.
"Don’t worry about it. I’ll ask them today and let you know if I find someone suitable. And if they know good furniture shops or interior designers, I’ll ask about those too."
Daisy nodded at her and gave her beaming beautiful smile of hers.
By the time Daisy finished her work at the laboratory, it was already late afternoon.
She said goodbye to Ace and Mona before leaving the building, where Rafael was waiting for her near his car. He had texted her that they will go home together.
"How was your day?" he asked as she settled into the passenger seat.
Daisy smiled and gave him a thumbs-up.
"Good, then." Rafael started the car. "Did you manage to get everything done?"
She nodded, then took out her phone and typed a quick reply.
Yes. It was a normal day.
"That’s good. At least work keeps you busy."
Daisy smiled at him.
The drive back to the mansion was comfortable. Rafael chatted with her about a few things that had happened during his day and Daisy replied through her phone whenever she had something to say.
When they finally arrived, Rafael parked the car and walked inside with her.
"I’m going to find something to eat," he announced. "Are you coming?"
Daisy shook her head and pointed toward the stairs, indicating that she wanted to go to her room first.
"Alright. Don’t disappear for too long. Dinner will be ready soon."
She nodded and headed upstairs.
But as she reached the first floor, her eyes moved toward Alessio’s bedroom.
The door was closed.
