Chapter 215: Chapter 215 Who the hell are you calling Grandpa?

Everyone stepped out of the courthouse but nobody seemed to know what to say.

The divorce was officially done. The papers were signed, the legalities were complete and the marriage that had bound Daisy and Cedric for three years had come to an end within a single morning.

The sun was shining brightly overhead, a stark contrast to the heavy atmosphere between them.

Daisy walked beside Grandpa James, her expression still blank as she tried to process everything that had just happened. Her steps were slow, almost mechanical and her eyes were fixed on the ground ahead.

Margaret stayed close to her, her hand resting lightly on Daisy’s arm, offering silent comfort.

Alessio followed a short distance behind, his eyes occasionally moving toward Daisy to make sure she was alright.

Cedric, however, had barely taken a few steps before his suppressed anger finally exploded.

"Daisy."

She stopped and turned around. Her eyes met his, and for a moment, there was nothing but silence between them.

Cedric walked toward her, his expression cold and his eyes stil carrying the frustration he had been holding inside the lawyer’s office. His jaw was tight, and his hands were clenched at his sides.

"Since we’re divorced now, what are you planning to do?"

Daisy blinked at him. Her expression flickered with confusion.

Cedric gave a bitter laugh. "Don’t tell me you’re planning to keep pretending everything is normal."

Grandpa James frowned. "What are you talking about?"

Cedric looked at him. "She should leave the house."

James’s eyebrows shot upward. "What?"

"She isn’t my wife anymore," Cedric said coldly. "So why should she continue staying there?"

Daisy’s face slowly changed. She hadn’t expected him to say that. Her fingers tightened around the strap of her bag and her eyes widened slightly.

James stepped forward. "Watch your words."

Cedric scoffed. "Why? It’s the truth."

"We just walked out of the courthouse," James said sharply. "And this is the first thing you choose to say to her?"

Cedric’s jaw tightened. "What do you want me to say, Grandpa? Congratulations? We’re divorced. She should start making arrangements for herself."

James stared at him in disbelief. "You have no manners."

Cedric’s eyes flashed. "And how is it possible that she can just stay there after today?"

James’s expression became cold. "Because that house isn’t yours alone."

Cedric immediately looked at him. "What?"

"You heard me." James pointed toward himself. "That house belongs to this family. It’s mine too. And if Daisy wants to stay there while she decides what she wants to do next, she will stay there."

Cedric laughed bitterly. "Oh, Grandpa, come on."

"What’s so funny?"

"If we managed to get divorced today, then why can’t she pack her things and leave today too?"

Daisy’s fingers slowly tightened. Her eyes were beginning to sting but she refused to let the tears fall.

James’s face hardened. "Because divorce papers don’t mean you can throw someone onto the street the moment the ink dries."

"I didn’t say I’d throw her onto the street!"

"You’re standing outside the courthouse telling her to leave before she’s even had time to breathe!"

Cedric’s expression darkened. "She has had three years to breathe."

The words came out before he could stop them.

Daisy’s eyes immediately became wet. She blinked rapidly, trying to keep the tears from falling but the hurt was evident on her face.

Cedric saw it. For a moment, his anger faltered. His expression flickered and something like guilt passed through his eyes. But instead of apologizing, he looked away.

James noticed Daisy’s expression and became even more furious. "Look at her."

Cedric didn’t move.

"Look at what you’ve done."

Cedric finally glanced toward Daisy.

Daisy stood silently beside Grandpa James, trying to keep herself composed. Her fingers were intertwined in front of her and although she was doing her best to hold herself together, the hurt in her eyes hadn’t completely disappeared.

Alessio had been watching her from nearby. The moment Cedric finished speaking, he stepped forward.

"Don’t worry, Grandpa."

James looked at him.

Alessio’s expression was calm. "If Cedric doesn’t want her staying at the house, she can stay at my place."

Cedric’s head snapped toward him. "What?"

Alessio looked at him without any fear. "I said Daisy can stay at my house."

Cedric’s face immediately darkened. "Who the hell are you calling Grandpa?"

Alessio blinked.

James looked between them.

Cedric pointed toward the old man. "He is my grandfather. You don’t get to casually call him Grandpa."

Alessio glanced at James. James simply raised an eyebrow.

Alessio looked back at Cedric. "He told me I could."

Cedric’s expression became even more irritated. "That doesn’t mean you can act like you’re part of the family!"

Alessio shrugged. "I’m not acting like anything."

"Then why are you involving yourself in Daisy’s living arrangements?"

"Because she needs somewhere safe to stay."

"She can stay in a hotel."

Alessio’s expression immediately became serious. "Why should she stay alone in a hotel?"

Cedric scoffed. "Why shouldn’t she?"

"Because it’s not exactly safe for women these days."

Cedric stared at him.

Alessio continued calmly. "There was an incident recently at a hotel not far from here. A woman staying alone was followed back to her room by someone who had been watching her downstairs. Fortunately, security intervened before anything happened."

He paused.

"Things like that happen more often than people think."

Cedric rolled his eyes. "So now you’re saying Daisy can’t stay in a hotel?"

"I’m saying she doesn’t have to."

Alessio’s voice remained steady. "She already knows me. She trusts me. My house has security, staff and plenty of space. If she wants somewhere to stay temporarily, she can stay there."

Cedric’s jaw tightened. "And why exactly are you so eager to have her stay with you?"

Alessio looked at Cedric for a long moment. Then his gaze shifted toward Daisy before returning to him.

"And why should I tell you that?" he asked calmly. "You’re no one to ask."

Cedric’s expression changed instantly. His eyes widened slightly and the words seemed to slapped him harder than he expected.

No one to ask.

Blood rushed through his head. His hands tightened into fists.

"How dare you..."
