Chapter 3955: Chapter 3955: As Long As He Dies, I Will Have a Chance

Jian Jin followed Lu Zhi silently, the atmosphere between them was unbearably awkward and heavy.

Why were even Mr. Lu and his people leaving?

Sangs and the others couldn’t figure out the situation at hand, but they still had to report to Lu Zhi what they had been through, so he braved himself and approached the wheelchair: "Mr. Lu."

Lu Zhi looked up at him lightly, already understanding the implications of him seeking him out: "Failed?"

Sangs recounted the events inside in detail, acknowledging his own incompetence, and before Lu Zhi could speak, he knelt down on one knee, extremely pale and pleading for punishment: "It’s my incompetence. Please punish me, Mr. Lu!"

"Tsk. You are indeed astute." Lu Zhi clicked his tongue with a laugh, without any murderous intent, though it was clear he was displeased that Sangs and his men did not manage to deal with Ye Wangchuan.

Sangs had been by his side for many years and felt he had grasped some of Lu Zhi’s ways, sensing that Lu Zhi’s words did not imply a threat to his life, he subtly relaxed.

Immediately, he looked up with astuteness at the person sitting in the wheelchair and spoke: "Mr. Lu, our next steps..."

Lu Zhi glanced at the subtly dark sky, and said upon hearing him: "Let’s return first."

Though Sangs did not understand why Lu Zhi was eager to leave, given his failure, he was in no place to question his master’s intentions.

He obediently got up and followed Lu Zhi’s order to gather his people and prepare for departure...

...

Jian Jin stood nearby and naturally overheard their conversation, and upon realizing Ye Wangchuan was safe, she relaxed entirely, softly speaking to the man in the wheelchair sideways.

"It’s a relief that Young Master Ye is alright, this way you and Jiang Yao have room to maneuver."

Seeing Lu Zhi unresponsive, even while instructing the tower-like bodyguard about the follow-up matters, she resisted, yet couldn’t help but block Lu Zhi’s view, her expression solemn.

"Boss Lu, what are you thinking? Do you really want to fall out with Jiang Yao? Or are you indifferent to losing even friendship in the future?"

"You go ahead and take care of it first." Lu Zhi instructed the bodyguard calmly.

The bodyguard glanced at Jian Jin, then silently left to take care of Lu Zhi’s instructions. Soon, only Jian Jin and Lu Zhi were left in this small spot.

Lu Zhi’s cold, white, and slender hand gripped the wheelchair, himself operating it to change direction and drive forward, a blanket over his legs, ethereal and noble, he was a beam of light in the night.

Just as Jian Jin was in a daze, she heard his leisurely voice arise.

"Does it matter if you care?"

"Being friends with her means I’ll only ever be friends; but what I want is not just a friendship."

"Also, harassing Ye Wangchuan isn’t just because of her. Over the years, Beijing’s reach has extended too far, and part of his faction has repeatedly attempted to take a share in the illegal zone. He messed with my cake, is it wrong for me to deal with him? Why can’t I?"

Jian Jin stared at his increasingly distant back, quickly returning to her senses and catching up, walking behind him: "But you shouldn’t take advantage of Jiang Yao’s absence to cooperate with Nie Qingru. Knowing full well her relationship with Jiang Yao, you still did it... anyone would feel disheartened. Not to mention Jiang Yao had an unpleasant falling out with you over this previously..."

Lu Zhi’s wheelchair suddenly stopped moving.

Jian Jin was forced to stop.

In her puzzled gaze, she saw Lu Zhi gripping the wheelchair tightly, veins bulging on the back of his hand, his voice still calm as always: "As long as he’s dead, I’ll have a chance."
