Madame is Pretending to be an Academic Slacker Again!

Chapter 1008 - 1007: Accidentally Put on a Little Chef Vest

  • Next Chapter

Qin Xin completed the "mind-floating" class assignment, and the happiest person was the mentor. Finally, he wouldn’t have to suffer through detention.

"Class ends early today! Everyone, practice well when you go home, diligence leads to skill, idleness leads to decline..."

The mentor continued with his earnest advice, but as soon as the kids heard the words "class dismissed," they cheered and started packing their bags to leave the classroom.

Jing Zhichen invited Qin Xin, "I heard you missed lunch, how about we go out for a big meal tonight..."

Qin Xin immediately turned him down politely, "Thanks, but I want to eat something different tonight."

Jing Zhichen, the young master of an aristocratic family, envisioned a big meal as exquisite vegetarian dishes. Vegetarian isn’t necessarily bad; it’s just that the chefs in this world are technically lacking. The dishes are bland, and when eating vegetarian, she feels like a rabbit, while eating meat makes her feel like a wild beast in a jungle.

Even someone like her, who doesn’t ask for much from food, finds it hard to swallow.

But Jing Zhichen was persistent, "Something different? Like what? Just tell me what you like to eat, and I’ll cover the bill."

Qin Xin: "..."

It’s not about the bill; it’s whether there’s any good food in this world.

Qin Xin sighed and rubbed her head, "Let’s have a barbecue."

"Barbecue?" Jing Zhichen looked a little blank.

Qin Xin: "..." Knew there wouldn’t be a barbecue pit here.

She recalled the scenes at the Imperial University, having barbecue parties with her friends, "Is there an open space where we can set up a charcoal grill or wood frame?"

Jing Zhichen: "Does the dormitory building rooftop count?"

Qin Xin: "Sure, a rooftop barbecue fits the mood."

Jing Zhichen: "But we probably don’t have a charcoal grill."

Qin Xin: "Then let’s get some firewood, as well as some fresh meat, seafood, mushrooms, and a few vegetables. Oh, make sure to get some bamboo skewers and seasonings... Never mind, I doubt you have much in terms of seasonings, so sea salt, black pepper, chili powder, and sesame oil will do.

Jing Zhichen noted it down one by one and went to find help to arrange it.

He was genuinely curious about what kind of "different big meal" she was planning.

Half an hour later.

The rooftop of the girls’ dormitory.

Jing Zhichen, Ding Dou, and a few strong guys were busy lighting fires and cutting meat, working with great effort.

Qin Xin brought two girls from her dorm and taught them how to skewer meat and vegetables on bamboo sticks and spread seasoning.

Though she used to be a disaster in the kitchen, she had seen enough from Mr. Nalan and Master Tuantuan, both incredibly skilled chefs.

At this moment, she tried to recall and relay their methods to everyone. Although not getting about seventy or eighty percent right, she got at least forty to fifty percent of the process similar.

Everyone was excitedly learning, much more enthusiastic than in their mentor’s ability class.

Soon, the first batch of skewers was ready.

"Sister Xin, would you like to try?" Ding Dou cautiously presented a skewer of bell peppers and chicken to Qin Xin.

Recalling her previous kitchen disasters, Qin Xin coughed, "Why don’t you try it first?"

With the respectful attitude of presenting a dish to the queen, Ding Dou took a bite.

Everyone stared at him.

Moments later.

Ding Dou swallowed the skewer, took a breath, and then shouted excitedly, "This is the best thing I’ve ever eaten!"

Then he devoured the whole chicken and bell pepper skewer.

Everyone: "...!"

After pausing for a moment, everyone got busy enjoying the feast as well.

Then the rooftop was filled with exclamations:

"Why haven’t I thought of marinating meat and vegetables like this and grilling them?"

"It’s delicious!"

"Soul food!"

"Sister Xin, turns out you’re the hidden chef empress!"
