She paused for a moment before continuing, “But it’s precisely because of this unique environment that Longze Lake has nurtured many Treasure Medicines and Spiritual Materials that are hard to find in the outside world. You could call it the largest natural Treasure Vault within the Cloud Water Upper Sect’s jurisdiction. Rumor has it that in its depths, not only might there be ancient, hidden Centennial Treasure Medicines, but the lake could even hide powerful Centennial Fish Kings. Their flesh and Essence Blood are supreme treasures for both Body Refining and Alchemy. Besides that, due to the influence of the mists and the earth’s veins, the lake sometimes gives birth to strange Spiritual Waters, Evil Qi, or other unexpected opportunities.”

Chen Qing committed every piece of this information to memory, cross-referencing it with what he had learned before.

At this point, Ruan Lingxiu looked at Chen Qing. “To be honest, Brother Chen, aside from the Sect contribution, my personal reason for taking this mission is to collect a type of Spiritual Water called ‘Cold Marrow True Dew.’ This water is extremely yin and cold, yet it contains a pure life force, which is quite beneficial to the Cultivation Technique I practice. You might want to keep an eye out as well during this trip, Brother Chen. Although the core misty region of Longze Lake is dangerous, the outer areas and some of the known hidden waters might hold other opportunities.”

As Chen Qing listened to her pleasant explanation, he was slightly moved and smiled. “Thank you for telling me, Junior Sister Ruan. If an opportunity arises, I certainly won’t miss it.”

Although this conversation didn’t completely eliminate the subtle distance between them, it at least broke the previous awkward silence, making the atmosphere for the rest of the journey much more relaxed.

While occasionally exchanging a few words with Ruan Lingxiu, Chen Qing silently strategized. ‘How can I find what I need within these vast mists without drawing anyone’s attention?’

The Golden Feathered Eagle was extremely fast. Five days later, a vast, boundless expanse of water finally appeared on the horizon.

As they drew closer, the magnificent vista of Longze Lake unfolded completely before their eyes.

Where the water met the sky, an endless expanse of emerald waves stretched out as far as the eye could see.

The lake’s water wasn’t a simple azure. Near the shore, it was slightly turbid and yellowish, but the farther out one looked, the deeper the color became, shifting to a dark green that was almost black.

Water vapor billowed, forming a veil-like mist that shrouded the lake’s surface. Far in the distance, toward the center of the lake, an area was completely enveloped in a dense, milky-white fog that refused to dissipate, giving it an air of profound mystery.

Islands of all sizes dotted the lake, like Pearls scattered across a Jade Plate.

A breeze blew across the lake, carrying with it damp water vapor and the faint smell of aquatic plants. Waves gently lapped against the shoreline’s reefs and reed beds, making a SPLASHING sound that further accentuated the vastness of the world.

Gazing at the immense, misty lake, Ruan Lingxiu couldn’t help but exclaim, “So this is Longze Lake. A twelve-hundred-li sea of mist… It truly lives up to its reputation.”

As Chen Qing looked down upon the vast, ocean-like lake, he felt a stir of emotion within him.

‘Such a vast body of water must contain countless Heavenly and Earthly Treasures, Treasure Fish, and Exotic Beasts. No wonder the Cloud Water Sect places so much importance on it, and no wonder it attracts the covetous eyes of the Demon Sect and other powers.’

Just then, the once-clear sky rapidly darkened. A soft spring rain began to fall silently, and the lake’s surface was instantly shrouded in a hazy curtain of rain.

The rain pattered on the lake’s surface, creating countless ripples. A faint scent of blood hung in the air.

Ruan Lingxiu’s Water Attribute Heart Method and Divine Techniques made her senses exceptionally sharp in a place so rich with the Water Element. She frowned slightly, her gaze fixed on a small island shrouded in the rain not far away.

“Brother Chen, over there… I sense an abnormal energy fluctuation, mixed with a very dense, bloody Evil Qi.” Ruan Lingxiu said, concentrating her senses, her voice tinged with caution.

Chen Qing followed her gaze, his eyes piercing through the threads of rain, and indeed sensed something unusual.

“Let’s go take a look.”

He directed the Golden Feathered Eagle, and the two of them sped toward the island.
