The warm, quiet stillness of Elena’s study felt entirely separate from the cold, violent world waiting for Liam outside.

The heavy mahogany doors remained shut, keeping the estate’s staff at bay while the muted afternoon light filtered through the high, arched windows.

On the broad leather sofa along the wall, the air still carried the heavy, lingering scent of dark cherry, amber, and skin—the fading aftermath of their chaotic, intense encounter.

Liam sat back against the dark leather cushions, his chest bare, a soft wool throw draped low across his waist.

His posture was slouched, his shoulders still aching from the brutal session with Wraith, his knuckles bruised and raw.

Beside him, Elena lay resting against his side.

Her silk robe was loosely tied around her waist, her , glossy hair spilled across Liam’s bare chest, rising and falling smoothly with the steady rhythm of his breathing.

Her soft, pale fingers absently traced the broad line of his collarbone, trailing down toward the fresh bruise near his sternum.

For a few minutes, neither of them spoke. The silence was heavy, comfortable, and strangely fragile.

Then, Elena let out a soft, measured breath against his skin.

She didn’t move away, keeping her head resting comfortably over his heart, but her soft, affectionate demeanor subtly shifted. The air in the room seemed to cool instantly.

"Clint ’Glacier’ Vance," Elena murmured, her voice smooth, low, and devoid of playfulness.

Liam didn’t look down at her immediately; he just stared up at the high, carved ceiling, his hand coming up to gently rest on her bare shoulder, his thumb stroking her skin. "Glacier, huh? Sounds like a comic book villain."

"Don’t laugh," Elena said quietly, her fingers tightening slightly against his chest, her nails digging in just enough to anchor his attention. "I am telling you this because I need you to understand what you are walking into on Friday. This isn’t another street brawler with a bad attitude, Liam. This man is a weapon."

Liam’s green eyes flicked down toward the top of her head.

He could hear the low, underlying tension in her voice—a subtle, rare flicker of genuine concern that she rarely let slip through her usual composure.

Elena was always in control, always calculating three steps ahead of everyone else, but right now, resting against his bare skin, she sounded almost... uneasy.

"Stiles didn’t just pick him out of a hat, did he?" Liam asked, his voice dropping an octave.

"No," Elena replied, her eyes staring off into the quiet shadows of the study as she spoke. "Stiles spent three months negotiating with an Eastern European syndicate to bring Vance into the circuit. He might have not pulled him out of a hat. But, he definitely pulled him out a black box of labelled "Demons"."

She paused, her breath warm against Liam’s ribs.

"Vance was a former high-tier mercenary," she continued softly. "Ten years active service in covert military operations before he went off the grid into the underground fighting ring. His official circuit record stands at forty-two matches."

She turned her face slightly, resting her chin on his chest so she could look straight up into his eyes. Her , almond-shaped eyes were serious, stripped of all her usual teasing arrogance.

"Forty-two wins," Elena said, her tone heavy. "Zero losses. Thirty-eight by absolute stoppage or severe medical emergency."

Liam’s jaw set. "Nobody’s undefeated forever."

"He is, because of how he fights," Elena countered, her palm pressing flat against his heart as if trying to feel its steady beat against the rising danger. "Vance possesses elemental Cryo-manipulation. Pure, high-density ice control."

Liam raised an eyebrow, a faint, skeptical smirk tugging at the corner of his mouth. "He’s a freezer?"

"Do not underestimate it," Elena snapped softly, her eyes narrowing as she cut off his attempt to brush it off. She leaned up slightly, resting her elbows on his chest, looking down at him with a gaze so fierce it made Liam’s smirk vanish instantly. "It is not a party trick, Liam. It is a lethal, tactical system."

She reached over to the small marble coffee table beside the sofa, picking up her tablet. With a flick of her thumb, she activated the glass screen and angled it toward him.

The cool blue light illuminated both of their faces in the dim room, displaying a black-and-white military dossier stamped with classified seals, alongside grainy underground combat footage.

"Watch," Elena whispered.

Liam focused on the screen.

The video showed a massive, heavily built man stepping into a dim, blood-stained steel cage somewhere in an industrial basement.

The man was towering—easily six-foot-four, broad-shouldered, with a thick neck, a shaved head, and scars running down his jawline. He looked like an immovable wall of muscle.

On the video, Vance’s opponent—a fast, agile kickboxer—surged forward, throwing a rapid-fire combination of punches.

Before the strikes could connect, Vance raised his hand.

Without moving his feet, the temperature inside the video frame seemed to drop instantly. Frost instantly spiderwebbed across the chain-link fence behind him.

As the opponent closed the gap, Vance flicked his wrist, and a cluster of sharp, crystalline ice stars—sharper than throwing knives—manifested directly out of the humidity in the air, spinning with terrifying velocity.

*THWACK*

The opponent shrieked as two ice blades buried themselves deep into his shoulder and thigh, pinning him back against the cage before Vance even took a single step forward.

The ice didn’t melt; it held the man pinned like a butterfly to a board while Vance calmly walked up, condensed a thick, jagged blade of solid, blue ice over his right fist, and delivered a devastating, concussive strike straight into the man’s throat.

The video cut to black.

Liam stared at the blank screen for a long, quiet second. The tension in his chest tightened like a overwound spring.

"He creates weapons out of thin air," Liam muttered, his green eyes .

"He doesn’t just create them—he molds them instantly," Elena said, setting the tablet back down and lowering herself back onto his chest, wrapping her arms around his waist as if trying to keep him anchored to the sofa. Her voice was unusually quiet. "Ice daggers, thrown projectives, ice-encased gauntlets that turn his punches into iron. In his previous matches, he’s frozen the canvas beneath his opponents’ feet to ruin their footwork, causing them to slip directly into his strike zone. He creates localized freeze zones that drain the oxygen right out of your lungs if you stay in close quarters too long."

She let out a slow, shaky breath, her fingers sliding over Liam’s bare stomach.

"Stiles bought him off to execute you in that ring, Liam," she whispered, her voice carrying a rare, vulnerable edge. "He wants Vance to freeze your limbs, break your legs, and leave you crippled in front of thousands of high-stakes bettors."

Liam didn’t answer right away.

He felt the soft, warm weight of her body pressed tightly against his, contrasting sharply with the cold, brutal realities she was describing.

He reached up, running his fingers through her long, silky hair, untangling a lock from her shoulder.

"You sound worried like you already belive there’s no way I’m coming out of this alive." Liam said softly, his voice low and steady.

Elena paused.

She didn’t immediately mask it or toss back a witty remark. She kept her cheek resting over his heart, listening to the heavy, calm beat beneath his chest.

"I am worried," she admitted quietly, her eyes looking out toward the walnut bookshelves. "I have built an empire, Liam. I control men, money, and land. But I cannot control the velocity of an ice blade coming at your neck in a blood ring. If you step into that cage unprepared, Vance will tear you apart."

Liam’s fingers gently cupped her chin, lifting her face until her , anxious eyes met his.

"Look at me," Liam said quietly.

Elena looked up at him, her lips slightly parted, her usual aura of absolute dominance softening into something raw and real.

"You don’t need to worry all i need to know is if he has a weakness i can explore. So does he?" Liam asked flatly.

Elena blinked, thrown off slightly by the sudden question. "Urmmm. There is only one weakness that i know. His physical strength is that of an elite heavyweight soldier, but biologically, his muscles are human. His power is purely elemental manipulation."

"So he doesn’t have super strength and won’t be able to move at light speed."

"No," she replied, her brow furrowing slightly. "He relies on range, environmental control, and heavy impact."

Liam’s mouth curved into a sharp, dangerous smirk—the look of a man who lived on the edge of a razor and thrived there.

"Then he bleeds like anyone else," Liam said, his voice dropping into a hard, confident growl. "He can throw all the ice stars he wants. He can freeze the floor, he can build blades out of air. But if his body is human, he can’t freeze a fist he can’t see coming."

Elena stared at him, her eyes searching his face for any sign of hesitation, any flicker of fear.

There was none. Liam’s eyes were cold, bright, and completely steady.

"He’s never faced someone with my speed," Liam added, his hand sliding down to rest firmly on her hip, pulling her closer. "All that power doesn’t mean a damn thing if I get inside his guard and put a hook through his jaw before he can finish forming a blade. The only way I beat him is by getting that one clean hit before he freezes the room."

Elena let out a long, quiet breath, the tension slowly draining from her shoulders as his unshakable confidence seeped into her.

A small, brilliant smirk returned to her lips—the dangerous, captivating smile that made her who she was.

"You really are an arrogant." she whispered, though her tone was laced with deep, possessive warmth. She leaned up and pressed a slow, lingering kiss to his lips, tasting the heat of his mouth. "A fast one, but still one nonetheless."

"I’m arrogant?." Liam corrected raspy, pulling her tighter against him.

"Yes," Elena murmured against his cheek, her hand sliding up his bare back, her nails tracing his spine. "You are. Which means you’re not scared. And I intend to keep it that way."

She shifted her body, sliding off his lap and standing up beside the sofa.

Her silk robe fluttered around her legs as she tied the sash securely, instantly transforming back into the immaculate, commanding woman who ran the estate.

She turned back to face him, looking down at his bare chest and the , focused expression in his eyes.

"Wraith is waiting for you at the rear grounds," Elena said, her voice crisp and authoritative once more, though a faint warmth lingered in her eyes. "Your training starts right now. No more lazy mornings. No more soft beds. If you are going to close the distance against Clint Vance without getting turned into an ice statue, you are going to need footwork faster than anything you’ve ever displayed."

Liam slowly sat up, swinging his bare legs over the edge of the leather sofa. His muscles groaned, his shoulder throbbed, and his body felt completely drained from their earlier session—but a surge of cold, focused adrenaline was already washing away his fatigue.

He looked up at her, wiping a hand across his jaw. "Wraith still gonna try to break my legs?"

"Wraith is going to push you until you vomit," Elena replied smoothly, a tiny, smile gracing her lips. "And then I am going to make you do it again."

Liam let out a dry, breathy laugh, standing up and pulling his pants back on, his eyes locked onto hers.

"I wouldn’t expect anything less," Liam said.

Elena watched him pull his jacket on, her eyes tracking every fluid, dangerous movement of his body. She stepped close, reaching out to straighten his collar with a gentle, lingering touch.

"Do not lose on Friday, Liam," she whispered softly, her eyes locking onto his one last time.

"I love you way too much to watch you freeze."

Liam smirked, leaning down to catch her lips in one brief, bruising kiss before pulling away toward the double doors.

"Tell Stiles I’m winning this match if you see again," Liam called back over his shoulder as he opened the heavy mahogany door. "And I’m coming for him after all this is over."

He stepped out into the grand hallway, the heavy doors clicking shut behind him, leaving Elena standing alone in the quiet warmth of her study.

Liam walked down the marble gallery, his sneakers echoing off the walls, his mind completely clear.

The party on Friday, Kelvin’s texts, college classes—all of it faded into distant background noise.

Ahead of him, through the glass French doors at the end of the corridor, the wide green grounds stretched out under the cool sun, where Wraith stood waiting by the edge of the pond.

Liam rolled his shoulders, tightened his fists, and stepped out into the cold air.
