Nangong Xiao actually didn’t notice, she was silently walking with her head down all along. It wasn’t until Di Yimo suddenly stopped that she almost bumped into his back, and it was only then that Nangong Xiao realized what had happened.

Reacting instinctively, she blurted out, "What are you doing? We were walking perfectly fine and then you just stopped suddenly."

Nangong Xiao’s face was somewhat resentful.

Di Yimo looked at her, and his lips curled slightly into a faint smile. "It’s you who wasn’t watching where you were going, didn’t you realize I stopped?"

Nangong Xiao did not answer, just pouted slightly.

"Or is it that you can’t bear for me to leave?" Di Yimo asked again, "So you’ve become absent-minded?"

Nangong Xiao was taken aback, suddenly lifting her eyes to look at Di Yimo, "Are you really going abroad?"

"Can’t bear it?" A faint smile seemed to linger at the corner of Di Yimo’s lips.

"Of course not." Nangong Xiao pursed her lips, "You’re just going to study, why should I be reluctant?"

"If you can’t bear it, I won’t go." Di Yimo pressed his lips slightly.

"No, you’re overthinking it." Nangong Xiao remained firm in her stance.

Di Wushuang, standing by the side, couldn’t help but quip, "If you two keep saying goodbye like this, it really will take until nightfall!"

Hearing Di Wushuang’s words, Di Yimo lifted his eyes to glance at the Nangong Family’s main hall, then withdrew his gaze and said, "Let’s go."

Nangong Xiao escorted the two to the entrance, and by this time, they were already far from the Nangong Family’s main hall, so Li Hui and Nangong Tiancheng definitely couldn’t see this side.

"Alright, I’ll see you off here." Nangong Xiao glanced at Di Yimo and Di Wushuang, then said, "Did you two take a cab over? Should I call a driver to take you back?"

"No need, we’ll just take a cab back, a walk isn’t bad either." Di Yimo replied.

"Oh, alright then, goodbye, I’m heading back." As Nangong Xiao spoke, she waved her hand, then wanted to turn and leave, but unexpectedly, Di Yimo grabbed her hand.

Nangong Xiao was stunned, feeling a bit flustered as she began to struggle, "What are you doing?"

"Are you really not reluctant at all?" Di Yimo asked again.

Nangong Xiao furrowed her brows, not answering, or perhaps not knowing how to answer.

Di Yimo smiled self-deprecatingly and continued, "If my going abroad can give you peace of mind, keep you from worry and trouble, and prevent your parents from making things difficult for you, then I believe my decision is wise."

"I..." Nangong Xiao’s brows knitted even tighter.

"You don’t have to say anything, Gu, you’ve won. I’ll back down, make concessions without bottom lines, as long as you’re happy, take care." As he spoke, Di Yimo released Nangong Xiao’s hand, his slender fingers lingeringly brushed her face, tidying the hair by her ear.

Then he withdrew his hand and walked away, seemingly casually, yet also heavily.

Di Wushuang followed along.

Nangong Xiao watched their retreating figures in silence, feeling a faint pain in her heart.

Shouldn’t she not be hurt?

His departure might be the best ending.

The girl stubbornly raised her eyebrows, a gentle "Take care" slipped from her lips, and then she turned and left as well.

Di Wushuang glanced back, seeing Nangong Xiao’s frail and thin figure, then turned back and asked, "Yimo, have you really decided to go abroad?"

"En." Di Yimo nodded, lifting his eyes slightly to the cloudless sky, and said quietly, "I’ve decided."

Probably in this world, only one person could change his decision, but that person didn’t ask him to stay, so there would be no change.
