Love You for the Rest of My Life
Chapter 2511 - 2512: Tempting Me to Commit a Crime
"Mrs. Nangong, I should remind you of something." Nangong Yue leaned in again with that faint drawl, pressing his lips to her ear. "Showing that kind of expression in front of your husband—are you trying to seduce me into committing a crime?"
Gu Mian: "...!!!"
"I..." Gu Mian’s face flushed scarlet in an instant, and she couldn’t help snapping, "So this is all my fault, huh!"
"Yeah, it’s all your fault." Nangong Yue reached out and brushed a hand over her smooth, soft cheek, then burst out laughing.
Gu Mian’s face got even redder from holding it in. Damn it, why did it feel like she’d fallen into a den of foxes!
And the worst part was, she didn’t seem to have any room to resist!
"I haven’t called my mom yet." As if suddenly remembering something, Gu Mian said, "I’ve got to hurry up and call her! She might be worried about me, or maybe there’s something important and she wants me to come home."
Talking as she moved, Gu Mian hurriedly fished out her phone, but before she could dial, Nangong Yue pressed his hand down over it.
Gu Mian raised her brows in confusion. "What?"
"If that’s the case, why don’t I call your mom for you?" Nangong Yue said, and without giving her a chance to object, reached out to take her phone.
Gu Mian: "..."
"I-I-I-I’ll call myself!" Gu Mian snatched the phone back in a panic, hastily finding an excuse. "I don’t think my mom has anything that urgent anyway!"
Nangong Yue’s lips curled as he nodded. "Mm, take your time calling."
Gu Mian took her phone and ran off to a corner of the living room, moving carefully, looking for all the world like some bullied little wife completely under her husband’s thumb.
Meanwhile, Nangong Yue was leisurely and elegantly making tea.
He actually looked really handsome when he made tea—it had a whole different kind of charm.
Or maybe it was just that with a good-looking face, anything you did looked good!
Which is why, if you’re hot, you’re allowed to be willful!
Thinking that, Gu Mian dialed Qin Qian’s number. Qin Qian picked up, sounding quite surprised as she asked, "Gu Mian, where did you run off to? You’re not coming home tonight?"
"I...I’ve got something going on." Not used to lying, Gu Mian stammered a little. "So I didn’t go back. It’s already late now, so I won’t come back tonight. I’ve got work tomorrow."
"Oh." Qin Qian responded with an "oh." "I thought you’d be coming home to stay tonight."
"Next Saturday." Gu Mian answered casually.
Even though she had her own place outside, she basically went home to be with her family almost every week.
It had become a habit—whenever she was free, off work, or on holiday, she’d definitely spend that time with her family. That was why Qin Qian thought she’d be home tonight.
"Alright then." Qin Qian readily agreed. "I won’t meddle in your business."
After all, Gu Mian was already an adult; Qin Qian couldn’t keep treating her like a little kid.
"Mm, okay, I’m hanging up then." Gu Mian faked a yawn.
But Qin Qian said, "Are you really tired? You sound exhausted. What did you go ask Nangong Yue about today, that you had to consult him for so long? Don’t tell me you’re worn out from asking questions?"
The moment Qin Qian asked that, Gu Mian’s face inexplicably went red. She couldn’t help sneaking a glance at the leisurely tea-making Nangong Yue.
Who knew that just then, Nangong Yue happened to turn his head and look at her too. Their gazes collided without warning.
"Nothing much." Gu Mian instantly dropped her eyes guiltily, pretending to look around casually as she said, "Just some academic stuff. You wouldn’t get it even if I explained. Anyway, that’s it, I’m going to wash up and sleep now. You should rest early too, bye-bye."
