Chapter 376 - 350: Clues to the Magic Potion
Ronin arrived at Lurans’s study.
The two old men were in the middle of a heated discussion about something.
“Ronin has some questions for you. Tell him everything you know, don’t hold anything back. You have to give my grandson the best guidance.”
Miroslav nodded with a smile. “Don’t you worry. I wouldn’t hold back on anyone, least of all your precious grandson.”
He sized Ronin up from head to toe.
The last time they had met in private, Ronin had asked him to search for Light Attribute Magic that could cure the Soul-Devouring Surge. He hadn’t expected that, while he had yet to find such magic, Lurans was already fully recovered.
He couldn’t help but suspect that the young man before him had something to do with Lurans’s recovery.
“Lately, you’re all anyone’s talking about at the Wushan Extraordinary Academy.”
Miroslav said with a laugh, “Tournament champion, Flame Knight, the slayer of pirates… So many of them see you as a goal to strive for, even an idol to be praised!”
Ronin rubbed his nose. With the events in the Royal Capital spreading, his fame was indeed growing brighter.
’Once word of this gets out, even more people will probably come to the Wubei Territory to pledge their allegiance to me.’
“That’s all just empty fame. People are exaggerating,” Ronin said modestly.
The two exchanged a few more pleasantries before Ronin slowly brought up his question—the magical herbs needed to create Magic Potions.
He took out the atlas of magical herbs drawn by Elron. It clearly recorded a description and an illustration for each ingredient, so that any ordinary person could find them.
Miroslav took it curiously and began to flip through it carefully.
It contained common magical herbs, some rarer ones, and even a few he had never heard of.
He couldn’t help but look at Ronin with suspicion. ’Where did this kid get this atlas?’
Recalling that Ronin had been to Golden Feather City and received a reward from His Majesty the King, he wondered, ’Could this atlas be from the Royal Family?’
’Thinking about it, that’s entirely possible. After all, the Royal Family’s Library contains all sorts of books.’
’But why would His Majesty the King give Ronin this kind of atlas? Don’t tell me he can actually make Magic Potions?’
’This is highly specialized work. It’s not something just any Mage can do.’
Pushing his thoughts aside, Miroslav asked, “Which magical herb are you looking for?”
Ronin flipped open two pages. “I was wondering if you know about Fury Flame Grass and Dream Flower. My attendant inquired at the Silva Magic Energy Chamber of Commerce in Pasture City, but they don’t have either of these magical herbs.”
“Fury Flame Grass is an ingredient for ’Fury Potion.’ This potion causes a Knight’s Fighting Qi to surge and makes their aura more aggressive while also reducing their sensitivity to pain and impact. It can enhance a person’s combat effectiveness to a certain degree.”
Miroslav continued, “As for Dream Flower, it has a calming and focusing effect on the mind. I’ve added it to the Magic Potions I’ve made for your grandfather over the years.”
Ronin’s eyes lit up. The man was surprisingly knowledgeable.
“Do you have these two ingredients?”
The Support Enhancement Potion required four ingredients: Fury Flame Grass, Dream Flower, Magic Crystal Dust, and Pure Water Essence.
The Magic Crystal Dust could be made from purchased Magic Crystal Stones, and the Pure Water Essence could be left to Jenny. The first two were the most crucial.
Miroslav nodded. “I do. These ingredients are typically only used by Chief Mages and above, which is why the chamber of commerce in Pasture City doesn’t stock them. If you need them, you can buy them in Wushan Town.”
He added, “But they aren’t cheap. A stalk of Dream Flower is 200 Gold Coins, and a stalk of Fury Flame Grass is as high as 400 Gold Coins!”
HISS!
Ronin sucked in a sharp breath. “They’re just two plants, and they sell for that much?”
Miroslav laughed heartily. “That’s how it is with Magic Potions. Besides, Fury Flame Grass comes from the deserts of the Gistana Duchy, and Dream Flower grows on ocean islands. Gathering and transporting them is a lot of work, so naturally, they’re expensive.”
Ronin sighed. He didn’t know how many stalks of Fury Flame Grass and Dream Flower were needed for a single bottle of Support Enhancement Potion. If it was too many, he wouldn’t be able to afford the price.
“Once things are settled here, I’ll have someone go and purchase them.”
He continued flipping through the atlas and pointed to other magical herbs. “Dean, what about this Starlight Grass and water from a Magic Spirit Spring? Do you have any leads on them?”
Miroslav’s brow furrowed. He carefully searched his memory for information on these two items, but after a long moment, he shook his head.
“I’m not familiar with those, but according to your description, a Magic Spirit Spring is often found within a Magic Crystal Ore Vein. And the Kingdom’s largest Magic Crystal Ore Vein is in the Amethyst County.”
As he spoke, he handed the atlas back to Ronin.
“When it comes to the deepest mastery of magic and Magic Potions in the Kingdom, if Mr. Bellora claims to be second, no one would dare claim to be first. So if you really want to find them, I suggest you visit the Silva Magic Energy Chamber of Commerce Headquarters in the Amethyst County.”
Ronin nodded.
At the tournament in Golden Feather City, he had met Franz Silva, the great-grandson of Magic Master Bellora. Franz had even invited him to visit the Amethyst Territory.
’It seems it’s time for me to make a trip there.’
Besides, in addition to gathering clues about these ingredients, he could also see if there were any higher-Level Magic Books there.
He was already a Great Mage and would become a Magic Master in the near future, but he had run out of Wind and Fire Dual Attribute Magic Books.
“What kind of Magic Potion are you trying to make?”
Miroslav asked curiously, “If you need guidance or help, you can come to me.”
As a Mage who had been immersed in creating Magic Potions for many years, Miroslav was very interested in magical herbs and the potions themselves.
So, even though he and Lurans were the closest of friends, he still memorized all the magical herbs mentioned in Ronin’s atlas. He planned to study them thoroughly once he returned to his laboratory.
However, making a Magic Potion wasn’t just about knowing the ingredients.
It involved numerous details, such as processing the magical herbs, the proportions, the combinations, the techniques used during refinement, and the input of Magic Power. The slightest deviation would lead to failure.
It was like an apple. Some people eat it directly, some make it into applesauce, some turn it into dried apple slices, and others make it into juice.
If Ronin had the secret formula for a Magic Potion, he would be even more interested.
Ronin chuckled mischievously.
The Awakening Potion didn’t matter, because creating it required pure Light Attribute Magic Power and a Mage of at least the Mage Level, making it difficult for others to replicate.
But the Support Enhancement Potion wasn’t as strict with the Mage’s Level—an Advanced Level Mage would suffice. That one needed to be kept secret.
So, he didn’t answer Miroslav’s first question. Instead, he smiled and said, “If I need help, I will definitely come to you.”
Miroslav couldn’t help but look at Lurans and say with a playful curse, “This grandson of yours is quite tight-lipped.”
Lurans chuckled. “What, at your age, you’re still thinking of stealing a secret Magic Potion formula from Ronin?”
“Bah! How can it be called stealing when it’s an Alchemist’s business? This is guidance, collaborative research, you understand?”
Lurans’s white beard twitched. “Doesn’t sound much different to me.”
Miroslav retorted with a laugh, “I see you’ve recovered and think you’re all that again. Come on, let’s find some time to go out and have a spar!”
“I was waiting for you to say that!”
Lurans’s eyes blazed with fighting spirit. “I want to see for myself if a guy who’s been bragging about his strength for years has actually improved at all!”
“You name the time. I’m ready whenever.”
“Then three months from now, after I’ve fully recovered.”
Ronin couldn’t help but smile. It was a rare sight—two men, nearly eighty, still ready to throw down at a moment’s notice just like youngsters.
“Grandfather, Dean, remember to let me know before you fight.”
A Meteor Knight versus a Great Mage—a battle of that Level wasn’t something you could see just anytime you wanted.
He was also eager to see just how powerful a Great Mage of the Earth Attribute truly was.
“No problem. I’ll have your grandfather notify you when the time comes.”
Miroslav seemed very confident in his own abilities. “Lurans, you’d better recover well. Don’t go losing in front of your grandson and then blame me for not saving you face.”
Lurans stroked his beard with an air of confidence. In three months, he might even have become a Silver Moon Knight.
“Don’t worry, I won’t lose!”
