Chapter 306 - 303: Old Acquaintance
Chapter 306: Chapter 303: Old Acquaintance
On this vast, open sea, without a ship, even a Professional Knight with a Constitution far surpassing that of an ordinary person wouldn’t survive for long.
Especially now, as the sun was setting. With nightfall approaching, the sea temperature would plummet. Few who fell into the water could possibly survive the night.
Not to mention, there were other dangers.
Ronin, however, wasn’t too worried. If worse came to worst, he could just have Carlos, who was flying high in the sky, come down.
But if he did that, he would expose the Giant Dragon’s existence.
’He couldn’t just kill Reis and the others to keep it a secret, could he?’
So, the best solution was to get a good ship.
While the Wall of Sighs was blocking the arrows, Captain Wheat Bran went to the bow. He shouted towards the enemy, calling out names like the Marquis of Wushan’s Domain and the Dennis Clan, announcing his allegiance while seeking a chance to negotiate.
Meanwhile, the first mate was actively manning the helm, adjusting their course.
Fortunately, the second Ice Cone hadn’t hit the hull. The seawater hadn’t yet risen past the waterline, so as long as no large waves appeared, the Denis Three could still struggle on for a bit.
But clearly, Wheat Bran’s shouts were in vain. The enemy’s third Ice Cone Skill was already blasting toward them, accompanied by loud taunts from the enemy ship:
“You little brats from the Dennis Clan, you can go down with your ship and be buried in this sea!”
Countless peals of laughter erupted from all around.
“Reis, negotiation is pointless. If you want to live, prepare to take a ship,” Ronin suggested.
Compared to the panicking crowd, Reis was still relatively calm.
“Which ship should we take?”
He looked at the one on the right. It had a Magic Energy Cannon mounted on it, so it was likely their main ship. Taking it would be quite difficult.
“Then we’ll take the one on the left!” Reis made up his mind.
Just then, the Wall of Sighs vanished.
From the ship on the left, a tall figure used a sudden burst of Fighting Qi to leap forty or fifty meters, landing heavily on the stern of the Denis Three.
“Embrace your death!”
His Longsword pierced straight through the heart of the first mate at the helm. Blood splattered onto the Knight, and he couldn’t help but stick out his tongue to lick it, a look of pure enjoyment on his face.
A flash of his sword instantly claimed the lives of two nearby sailors. A Knight from the Dennis Clan charged forward, only to be sent flying with a single kick. He crashed into the mast, spat out a mouthful of blood, and died on the spot.
“The pirates are on board!”
“The pirates are on board!”
Cries of panic erupted from the rear. Ronin whipped his head around and saw the tall Knight carving a path of destruction from the stern toward the bow. Wherever he went, not even a group of Knights ganging up on him could slow his advance, let alone the sailors.
’It’s him!’
Ronin’s gaze hardened as he recognized the man—it was the same Golden Knight who had tried to assassinate Blanche in the Wushan City Beast Fighting Arena.
’Previously, all the evidence pointed to the Skull Society and the Black Gold Brotherhood. Why would this assassin suddenly show up here?’
“You’re no match for him.”
Ronin held back Reis, who was about to charge forward. “Keep an eye on the ship to the right!”
Looking across the entire Denis Three, no one but him could contend with the assassin who called himself “Mundo.”
Ronin first cast a Rapid Speed spell on himself, then grabbed his Flame Stream Sword and charged.
Seeing Ronin charge at him, a smile spread across Mundo’s face as he swung his broad Knight’s Sword.
He had already heard rumors about Ronin’s strength, but a mere Silver Knight was nothing to him.
CLANG! The two Knight’s Swords collided with a deafening crash. The impact of their clashing Fighting Qi created a powerful gust of wind, sending nearby sailors and the enemies who were just boarding stumbling backward.
“I remember you. Mundo from the Beast Fighting Arena!”
Ronin’s swift, flaming fist shot toward Mundo’s chest.
Mundo’s reflexes were sharp; he immediately threw a punch of his own.
BANG!
Their fists collided with a dull thud, and the immense impact forced them apart.
But they immediately charged and clashed once more.
The battle between Golden Knights had a huge area of effect. Although the Denis Three was a large ship, there was no longer enough space for them. The violent shockwaves blasted through the deck planks and shattered the ship’s railing.
In the blink of an eye, the magnificent Denis Three was reduced to a wreck.
Reis couldn’t believe his eyes. ’How is Ronin this strong? Isn’t he supposed to be a Silver Knight? How is he using the Sixth-level Wind Attribute Combat Skill, Wind Pressure Wave?’
“Lord Reis, another attack is coming!”
Wheat Bran shouted in a panic as the muzzle of the opposing Magic Energy Cannon began to glow again.
Sensing the fluctuation of the Water Element, Reis snapped back to his senses. “Everyone, defend!”
Following his roar, all the Intermediate and higher-level Knights crowded at the bow unleashed their Combat Skills, neutralizing the Ice Cone Skill in mid-air.
Seeing that their “beam struggle” wasn’t working, the people on the enemy ship stopped using the Magic Energy Cannon. Instead, their captain began steering their ship to close in on the Denis Three, which could no longer change course.
Clearly, they intended to board as well.
“I never expected you to be Golden Level!”
After exchanging over a hundred moves with Ronin, Mundo felt the pressure. He had originally thought that with a Golden Knight like himself present, the operation would be a one hundred percent success. He never expected to have misjudged his opponent’s strength.
The previous assassination attempt on Blanche at the Wushan Beast Fighting Arena had failed because of Ronin. At that time, Ronin had relied on a Sixth-level Spell Scroll.
This time, his objective was to assassinate Ronin, only to find that his target was now strong enough to fight him one-on-one!
Ronin pressed forward. Their swords clashed, and his immense power forced his opponent back.
“Who is backing you?”
Mundo gritted his teeth, veins bulging on his arms. This young man’s Power was actually greater than his.
To create an opening, he said, word by word, “It’s your grandfather… Lurans!”
’Huh?’
The words struck a nerve. For a split second, Ronin was stunned. His opponent seized the opportunity to pull back, escaping the disadvantage in their struggle of strength. The Fighting Qi around his body surged, coalescing upon his longsword into a colossal wave.
“Tsunami Frenzy!”
Mundo swung his longsword, and the Combat Skill crashed over the deck like a raging tsunami, its power unstoppable.
“Fuck, he tricked me!”
Ronin cursed angrily. As his opponent was unleashing his Combat Skill, he had already made his move.
The immense Fighting Qi within him was drawn out, forming a massive, several-meter-long red sword silhouette under the enhancement of his Flame Stream Sword. The silhouette blazed with towering flames, emitting a heat wave so intense it was terrifying to behold.
The power of Ridder’s signature Combat Skill, Blast Flame Slash, was already stronger than ordinary Combat Skills. When unleashed by a Golden Knight, its might was even greater, especially when amplified by the Flame Stream Sword.
BOOM!
Their signature Combat Skills met above the damaged deck of the Denis Three, creating a deafening roar. The tall mast could no longer withstand the impact; it was toppled over and crashed into the sea.
The power of Blast Flame Slash was more concentrated, and it ripped right through his opponent’s Tsunami Frenzy.
’How is he so strong?’
Mundo’s eyes went wide as he watched the aftershock rush toward him. He wanted to dodge, but it was too late.
BAM!
A colossal force slammed into his chest. For a second, Mundo felt his heart stop. Then, he felt himself being engulfed in a ball of flame, launched into the sky, and sent arcing down into the sea.
The shockwave from this one blow was like a tempestuous gale, tearing at the ship’s hull and causing the Denis Three to rock violently.
All the enemy Knights who had just jumped aboard and hadn’t yet found their footing were torn from the deck by the immense force and thrown into the sea.
The steam created by the clash of water and fire enveloped the entire area for a hundred meters around.
Cries of pain, calls for help, and furious roars blended into a chaotic cacophony.
Ronin cast the Clear Wind Skill, blowing away the steam in front of him. The stern of the Denis Three was torn to shreds, with only the main timbers of the hull still holding it together.
Ronin leaped to the stern and surveyed the surface of the sea.
A dozen or so figures were floating on the water, most of them enemies.
From the recent impact, some had been knocked unconscious, others had been impaled by sharp splinters of wood, and the few survivors were flailing, trying to get back on board.
Mundo was floating on the surface, a pool of crimson spreading out beneath him. It was unclear if he was dead or just unconscious.
Ronin didn’t have time to care. He quickly cast Wind Blade, sending it slicing across the man’s throat. Blood instantly shot four or five meters into the air.
After doing this, he looked up at the enemy ship a dozen meters away. The sailors on board were trembling in fear.
“Quick, turn the helm! Turn the helm!”
The captain roared. To him, Ronin looked like the god of death himself. Even though they were on separate ships, he didn’t feel safe in the slightest.
After all, if Mundo could leap a distance of forty to fifty meters, then a dozen meters would be no problem at all for the man who had just killed him.
Just then, the low sound of a Horn echoed across the sea.
The other ship, the one carrying the Magic Energy Cannon, had also been planning to board. But now, seeing that Mundo was dead, they quickly chose to retreat.
In truth, destroying the Denis Three to this extent already signified the success of their assassination mission.
After all, trapped on this sea with no islands in sight, their chances of survival were practically zero.
“Trying to leave?”
Ronin sneered. ’You think you can just come and go as you please? It’s not that easy.’
“Reis Knight, how’s your courage?”
“You need not doubt my courage!”
Reis puffed out his chest. “Tell me, what do you need me to do?”
Ronin pointed to the ship at their stern. “Go. Take that ship! As for me…”
He crouched down, channeling Fighting Qi to the soles of his feet. Then he stomped hard on the deck. The erupting Fighting Qi produced a massive propulsive force, launching him forward like a cannonball.
