Chapter 2271: Man of the Impossible
Chapter 2271: Man of the Impossible
"...The entire treasury of your Empire couldn’t raise fifty of these." Robin spoke with a faint smile, then turned around and began walking back toward his table at an unhurried pace, his attention already drifting away from the conversation and returning toward the thoughts occupying his mind.
As far as he was concerned, the conversation was over, and it was time to contemplate that formation and see what conclusions he could draw from it. Compared to the mysteries hidden within the Laws, most other matters could wait.
"...." Glacion understood this from Robin’s body language as well. The man had likely already begun forgetting his existence, but Glacion had no intention of giving up that easily. "May I come in?"
As for the comment about his Empire being poor? well, he wasn’t lying, even if he managed to gather all his assists he wouldn’t be able to able that major space law the guards are using!
"Hmm? There isn’t much to do here, but suit yourself." Robin replied casually, then something caught his attention on the way back. "Hmm?"
There was a golden sphere slowly rotating where the Elder Cosmic’s residence had once stood...
Now that he thought about it, the house itself had disappeared.
"..." Robin stopped and looked toward Glacion. "Since you were watching me, do you know what happened here? There was a woman in that house. Did you see where she went?"
Robin felt as though he had been inside a temporal gap and had only just emerged from it.
Those symbols appearing and affecting the army was one thing, but destruction and changes of this scale occurring right beside him was genuinely strange and should not have happened without him noticing. The feeling was so unusual that it left him mildly unsettled.
"The woman, you mean Lady Althera?" Glacion advanced through the formations with ease after receiving Robin’s permission. "She’s inside that sphere."
At that moment, Glacion forgot—or chose to forget—something important he had been carrying in his hand.
Serfon.
Whom he had been holding by the clothes while approaching the mountain.
When he had dropped to his knees in the air beneath the pressure and shock of the phenomenon, his hand had opened involuntarily.
As a result, Serfon had plummeted freely down the mountain while screaming the entire way.
"Hmm?" Robin looked surprised and turned back toward the golden sphere. "Althera is inside? Strange... I can feel a familiar aura coming from the sphere itself. How did this happen?"
"That sphere was formed by the Master Law symbols. Six threads from the six symbols gathered together and created what you see now." Glacion had reached a position behind Robin.
He maintained a distance of exactly one step.
He did not dare move any closer.
"The Master Laws did that on their own? Strange..." Robin muttered thoughtfully, then nodded twice. "Well, I don’t feel anything hostile from it, and perhaps Althera received a fortunate opportunity for herself. I’ll find out what happened once she comes out on her own."
Then he continued toward his small table, sat down calmly, and fixed his eyes upon the board, treating the matter as something already settled.
"Lord Robin, regarding your comment earlier about my Empire..." Glacion took several steps forward until he stood before the table. "Am I to understand that Your Lordship knows who I am?"
"Glatheon, more or less?" Robin answered without looking up. "Yes. I got a general idea about you and saw your picture in the report when you first joined as a Wing." Then he looked up with a smile. "A wise decision." Afterward, he returned to examining the board.
"I know that now." Glacion nodded seriously. "Doesn’t Your Lordship have some curiosity about why I’m here?"
"Heh~" Robin let out a small chuckle and looked toward Glacion once more. "Do you want to play? Fine, let’s play." Then he leaned back slightly and stared at Glacion’s face for a moment, as though reading through his intentions, before lowering his gaze toward the table again. "So, the negotiations with the Endless Chaos Empire succeeded. Good."
"....?" Glacion’s eyes widened in surprise. "Did the report arrive before I did, Lord Robin?"
He had wanted Robin to ask what had happened so that he could begin recounting every detail at length, allowing the conversation between them to continue for as long as possible. He had even mentally prepared several places where he could embellish the story and describe the reactions of Omes, Omira, and the others.
But that path had been cut off.
And in an extremely strange manner as well.
Not because Robin already possessed a detailed report.
Not because someone had informed him beforehand.
But because he had simply looked at him for a moment and casually reached the correct conclusion as though it were the most obvious thing in the world.
"No." Robin raised the board by its sides as though he were reading a newspaper, his eyes remaining fixed on the countless connections and patterns hidden within it. "But I don’t need to hear a report to know what happened." Then he chuckled. "I don’t like bragging, but I can use First Grade Causality at a decent level without activating the runes, and I can see simple things from which I infer even simpler things."
Then he continued:
"The thread you have with me is strong and positive, and you have a strong thread with Holak as well. Positive, though it shows a degree of aversion, which is natural considering his personality. You also have a respectable thread with that poor fellow treating himself below the mountain. Beyond that, you have threads connected to the entity that is the Grave Empire, showing strong affiliation, and two threads connected to people roughly your equal in strength, whom I will assume are the Guardians of Endless Chaos."
Then he smiled and nodded toward Glacion.
"Putting all of that together leads to a single conclusion: the negotiations went better than expected. Well done."
"..." Glacion felt a chill run through him.
This analysis was performed using First Grade Causality?
What would happen if he used the Third Grade?
No wonder the Archon ruled the universe from the shadows...
The more Glacion learned about Causality, the more terrifying it became. Strength could be resisted, armies could be fought, and even Laws could be countered under the right circumstances, but information itself was another matter entirely.
"...Anything done in service to Your Majesty is my pleasure, and in the future you will hear much about me." Glacion bowed slightly.
Then he straightened his back and continued calmly:
"At this point, every major power in the Mid Sector 99 has either been destroyed or subdued. Only a handful of Centennial Empires remain. Once the Endless Chaos Wing publicly announces its accession, at least half of the remaining Centennial Empires will join as well. As for those who refuse submission, I volunteer to become the spearhead against them."
Then he placed a hand over his chest.
"I, Glacion, may be a person who loves peace and peace of mind, but I do not slack in serving someone I have become convinced of. Your Majesty will personally see what I accomplish during the coming years for the sake of unifying the sector on your behalf. Do not trouble yourself with these trivial side matters. I am sufficient for them."
"Heh~ Then I’ll rely on you." Robin revealed a smile. "Coordinate with Haros and tighten the Grave Empire’s grip over the sector. I think fifty years should be enough."
Then he continued after a brief pause, as though recalling another matter of greater importance:
"And during that time, keep in contact with Theo and Aro. Find a way to assist them. Unifying the sector is no longer a difficult task that deserves our full attention."
"...." Glacion stood without reacting for several moments.
Stunned.
Unifying the sector was not a difficult task...
How absurdly arrogant were those words?
Even after subduing every Millennial Empire, there would still be thousands of smaller kingdoms and empires scattered throughout the sector, countless noble houses, independent factions, mercenary alliances, hidden organizations, trade conglomerates, and local rulers who would all need to be brought under a single banner.
All of that would be completed within half a century?
Even ten thousand years would not be enough!
At least, that was what Glacion would have said a few hours ago.
But after everything he had seen...
After seeing six Master Laws gather beneath a single individual.
After seeing the Heavenly Laws themselves respond to his existence.
After seeing Althera wrapped inside a phenomenon no one could explain.
After hearing Robin casually deduce the outcome of negotiations through a few threads of causality.
After learning that even the Archon’s personal attempt to eliminate him had apparently failed.
The statement no longer sounded arrogant.
It sounded practical.
Like someone discussing the completion of a construction project or the organization of an army.
Glacion slowly lowered his gaze.
Then he nodded.
If this man said something was possible, then it was possible.
