“Thousands of years after the age of dinosaurs, human civilization emerged. The first humans lived on a landmass called the Ancient Continent. “A type of creature known as a ‘Demon God’ came into being along with human civilization. They were the greatest enemies of ancient humanity, viewing humans as prey and food. “Under the leadership of the Star Association, the ancient humans used various means to counterattack the Demon Gods. These attacks, initially weak, gradually grew in intensity. Soon, the ancient humans successfully defeated the host of Demon Gods, conquered the kingdoms they had built, and discovered a large number of forbidden ancient texts within them.”

“From these evil books, ancient humans learned for the first time of the ‘Abyss’ and the existence of indescribable, chaotically Twisted, and incomprehensible Evil Gods. As a result, some who were swayed by this knowledge left the Ancient Continent, traveling to other corners of the World in search of the Abyss.”

“During this same period, Adam and Eve were born in the Eden Garden. They were later tempted by a serpent—the Demon God Satan in disguise—to eat the Forbidden Fruit, bringing Original Sin into the world. They were expelled from the Eden Garden by ‘God’—a great Mage from the Ancient Continent. After wandering for several centuries, they unexpectedly encountered the ancient humans who had been swayed by the evil texts.”

“Adam and Eve formed a partnership with these ancient humans. They learned their Magic and Curse Techniques and, as the progenitors of Original Sin, established Fallen Paradise with them. Together, they continued the search for the Abyss, hoping to find truth, knowledge, and the Power to overthrow ‘God.'”

“This search lasted for several hundred years. They scoured nearly every corner of the World outside the Ancient Continent but found no trace of the Abyss. During this time, more and more captivated ancient humans joined Fallen Paradise, causing it to grow ever stronger.

“This drew the attention of the Star Association on the Ancient Continent. They decided to eliminate these disaster-chasing heretics and launched a campaign of suppression against Fallen Paradise that lasted for several years. In the end, Adam and Eve were killed by the Star Association, but their child, Cain, escaped and survived, living on in anonymity.”

“At the same time, the ancient human civilization on the Ancient Continent experienced explosive development, reaching a period of extreme brilliance. Their confidence swelling, the Mages began to read vast quantities of the evil books that corroded the mind, attempting to gain more knowledge and secrets from them. Unsurprisingly, they were corrupted and became worshipers of the Evil Gods.”

“Ultimately, a genius Mage devised a magical ritual capable of summoning an Abyssal Evil God. He mobilized all the forces of the Abyssal Cult to begin the summoning. The Star Association tried to stop it, but it was too late. A colossal tentacle reached out from the Abyss. In that instant, every human on the Ancient Continent was driven mad by the Evil God’s psychic corruption, and the mighty ancient human empire collapsed overnight.”

“Outside the Ancient Continent, Cain sensed the Divine Descent of the Evil God. He trembled with Fear, believing his end had come. But not long after, the Evil God’s presence vanished. He then spent several years traveling to the Ancient Continent, only to find an empty ocean before him—the entire, bountiful Ancient Continent had disappeared without a trace. Nothing remained.

“He speculated that the great Mages within the Star Association must have stopped the Evil God’s Divine Descent, and the price they paid was their own lives and the entire Ancient Continent.”

The Sea Monster paused for a long time at this point. The actual story was far more complex than what he had recounted; with time being short, he could only share the key points. After a moment of thought, he continued, “Before the Ancient Continent was destroyed, a portion of the uncorrupted ancient humans were sent away. They migrated to various parts of the World, where they prospered and gave rise to the great ancient civilizations of history.

“Cain, meanwhile, became the leader of Fallen Paradise. He led them from the shadows, interfering with the progress of human civilization and making multiple attempts to resurrect Adam and Eve.

“The Star Association had not been wiped out. Instead, it became the guardian of human civilization. They detected signs of Cain’s clandestine activities and sought to kill him. However, the destruction of the Ancient Continent had left the Star Association severely weakened. Facing the powerful Fallen Paradise and a Cain who had gathered his strength, they found themselves at a disadvantage for a time.

“Thus, the Star Association began to seek out exceptionally talented individuals, guiding them to join its ranks and fight against Fallen Paradise.

“From the most ancient of times to the present day, the conflict between the Star Association and Fallen Paradise has continued unabated, not even ceasing during the era when the Extraordinary was forbidden. Their shadows loomed behind several of the world wars of the old era.

“The appearance of the Abyss was the doing of Fallen Paradise. In the final years of the old era, they succeeded in opening a passage to the Abyss based on the contents of the ancient books.

“As for the Abyss, it is a place that came into existence at the same time as the Cosmos itself. It is the dark side of the Cosmos, the source of all Darkness and Twist, standing in opposition to realms like the Material Realm and the Spirit Realm. No race in the Cosmos knows the exact location of the Abyss. One can only catch a fleeting glimpse of its horror within the Illusion Realm.

“The ‘Demon Gods,’ due to their Attributes being close to the Abyss, were able to reach it through the Illusion Realm. They sought guidance from the races within the Abyss and learned much forbidden knowledge, including how to open the Gate of the Abyss. However, they were exterminated by the ancient humans before they had a chance to use it…”

The Sea Monster’s telling of this ancient history was a revelation to Zhou Chen, completely shattering his worldview. ‘So there were so many other civilizations in ancient times… so that’s how the Star Association and Fallen Paradise were originally founded… and that’s how the Abyss came to be…’

“After they finished recounting the ancient history, those of us at Tier Four and some at Tier Five were sent away,” the Sea Monster said. “The resurrection of Adam and Eve is a crucial part of the “Rebuilding Eden” plan. They must be plotting something sinister right now. Master, you must be careful!”

Just as Zhou Chen was mulling over this ancient history, the voice of No. 9 suddenly came through his communicator.

“We have a situation. Get to Zone One, now.”

An Any Door abruptly opened in front of him. Without a second thought, Zhou Chen pushed it open and stepped through.

He arrived directly in President Zhang Tao’s office.

Zhang Tao’s expression was grave. “Just now, some of my memories and those of the other old-timers were unsealed. They’re about the history of the ancient era.”

A thought struck Zhou Chen, and he immediately told Zhang Tao what he had learned.

“So it was the resurrection of Adam and Eve that caused these memories to resurface…” Zhang Tao clicked his tongue. “This is not good.”

BEEP BEEP BEEP—The landline on the desk suddenly began to ring.

Zhang Tao picked up the receiver and listened in silence. A few seconds later, he placed it back on the cradle and looked at Zhou Chen.
